University, for a student, is undoubtedly the most coveted path of learning, not just because it is a crucial period for experiencing life, but also because it is the very arena for striving for one's future. Thus, people often attach great importance to university life, especially the older generation, who toil endlessly to send their children to school with the sole aim of securing a better life for them. Although life after graduation isn't guaranteed to be perfect, it is still ostensibly better than the lives of those without formal education, particularly those from impoverished backgrounds.
University is mysterious; it is vibrant and full of color. For some, it holds profound significance, yet for others, it is undoubtedly the prime season for chasing romance. It encompasses a spectrum of life's flavors—sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy—a confluence of students from all corners of the nation, brimming with youthful energy. These elements are what people often call the university era. (Author’s note: Apologies, brothers and sisters, as I myself have never attended university, my depiction might lack depth.)
"So, this is university life!"
"Yeah! Damn it, I finally get it!"
"Hey, you two!" Xu Ming glared at his two brothers, whose bull-like eyes were fixed on the main gate of Fudan University, their mouths practically drooling, looking utterly shameless. He scoffed at them, "Keep your drool in, it’s about to drip!"
"Piss off!" Lin Pangzi and Ye Xiaohou rolled their eyes in unison at Xu Ming. "Don't pretend you’re immune, buddy. You don't get excited when you see beautiful women?"
"I…!" Xu Ming was left speechless. To say he wasn't moved was a lie, but perhaps because he harbored feelings for Liu Qingqing, he dared not be too obvious, especially since Li Qian was standing right next to him.
Li Qian, standing nearby, couldn't help but purse her lips and chuckle softly. These guys were truly amusing. Watching the students constantly coming and going through the entrance, especially those stunning beauties who occasionally appeared, had them nearly salivating. As for Xu Ming, constrained by his status as Liu Qingqing's close confidante, he restrained himself, appearing exceedingly proper, which was quite laughable to observe.
"Damn it! Why is the Boss taking so long?" Noticing Li Qian's knowing smile, Xu Ming quickly tried to cover his own awkwardness and spoke up.
Just as his words fell, two strikingly handsome young men walked past Xu Ming and approached Li Qian. One of them, particularly good-looking, performed a courteous bow towards Li Qian, asking with a face full of smiles, "Excuse me, classmate, are you perhaps enrolling at Fudan University?"
"Uh!" Li Qian was momentarily taken aback by the sudden appearance of the two young men. Seeing the rather forced smiles on their faces, she seemed to grasp the situation in an instant.
But it wasn't just her; Lin Pangzi and the others understood even more clearly. However, their expressions soured slightly, overlaid with a hint of anticipation, as they stared intently at the two young men.
"What does it matter to you whether I am a student at Fudan University or not?" Li Qian asked, a signature 'demoness' smile playing on her lips as she looked at the pair.
"Uh—well, hehe! Of course, it doesn't matter much. It’s just that I saw you standing here for quite a while, so I thought I’d ask. We just wanted to see if there was anything we could do to assist a beautiful lady!" The young man who spoke first paused, then added with a smile.
"That's right, we have no other intentions, we just want to make friends with the beauty!" The other youth chimed in awkwardly.
"Make friends?" Li Qian feigned surprise, then inquired, "What kind of friends? Sex partners, or perhaps..."
"Damn! Those two are finished," the three muttered under their breath as Li Qian uttered a completely inappropriate term.
Hearing this, a sinister glint flashed in the eyes of the two young men; they seemed to assume Li Qian was the easy sort. One of them licked his lips, a wicked smile spreading across his face, and provocatively leaned in close to Li Qian, inhaling deeply. This prompted Lin Pangzi and the others to quickly shut their eyes, inwardly praying for the duo.
After taking a breath, the young man sighed softly, "So fragrant." He then said, "Of course, if the beauty is willing, sex partn—"
Before the young man could finish his sentence, a sharp SMACK echoed through the air. Li Qian, her face icy cold, had slapped him hard. Following that, she delivered a vicious kick to the young man's lower abdomen, cursing, "You little brat, daring to hit on me! You must truly be tired of living."
The sudden turn of events left the young man stunned, but the searing pain in his groin made him clutch the area, hopping around like a kangaroo. The other young man watched, his face contorting in shock, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead as he stared disbelievingly at the suddenly thuggish Li Qian.
"Sigh! We were mourning for these two long ago," Lin Pangzi and the others muttered again, a thought suddenly popping into their heads: "Brother Yi and the Boss are hooligans, and Sister-in-law is also a hooligan, a supremely powerful, demonic version! What a combination!"
"Do you want me to be your sex partner too?" Li Qian turned her head, her expression provocatively playful as she asked.
"Ah... ah..." The young man trembled, terrified by Li Qian's demonic look. After a yelp, he bolted. The other one, clutching his lower body with veins throbbing on his forehead, hopped away while enduring the agony. The three observers clamped their hands over their mouths and stomachs, trying to contain their laughter.
Simultaneously, a black sedan pulled up nearby. Yang Yi stepped out of the car and, seeing the three brothers trying to suppress their 'suffering,' asked with confusion, "What's wrong with you three?"
"Mmm! Mmm! Mmm!" All three seemed to be struggling intensely as they shook their heads, though their gestures were quite telling.
"Yi, you’re here!" Li Qian, whose expression had abruptly transformed from domineering and roguish, rushed over to Yang Yi, hooking her arm through his, and asked, "Hehe, nothing, we’re just heading to registration!" Li Qian pulled the confused Yang Yi along, cast a sharp glare at the three stifling their giggles, and ordered, "Hurry up, we need to register!"
"Coming," the trio replied, a bead of cold sweat trickling down their foreheads. They dared not provoke Li Qian; remembering past incidents and the recent one, they instinctively shuddered.
At the main gate of Fudan University, numerous tables were set up, staffed by several students—clearly the new student reception area. Yang Yi and his group of five headed towards it. Registration, form filling, fee payment, class assignment, and collecting uniforms—after this relentless sequence of events, they finally breathed a collective sigh of relief. Enrolling in university was proving to be anything but easy.
"Damn, registering for university is even more tedious than high school!" Xu Ming complained gloomily.
"I know!" Ye Xiaohou nodded, looking thoroughly wrung out.
"Alright! Stop grumbling, let’s find our classrooms first," Yang Yi shot the three of them an exasperated glance.
"Yeah, let's find the classroom and sit down first. My legs are numb," Li Qian pouted. The registration process had been grueling; not only was the sun beating down, but they had waited in line for over an hour before it was their turn, illustrating the hardship involved.
Shanghai Fudan University was, without question, the most renowned institution in Shanghai. It boasted numerous teaching buildings, and the campus itself was vast. It took them nearly ten minutes just to walk from the main gate to the classrooms designated for the first-year students. Unbeknownst to them, their major, Business Management, was housed in the largest building, which is why it was situated further away. Class 1(6) was their destination. After a process of friction-filled searching, they finally arrived at their classroom.
"Finally found it," Xu Ming, Ye Xiaohou, and Lin Pangzi exclaimed in unison as they peered through the doorway into the classroom.
"Brother Yi, there aren't many people here yet!" Lin Pangzi asked.
Yang Yi glanced at the room. The student desks were arranged in long, tiered rows, likely accommodating around fifty students. However, whether due to the early hour or some other reason, the room was nearly empty. He checked his watch and said, "Class starts in ten minutes, let’s find our seats first."
"En!" Lin Pangzi and the others nodded in agreement.
"Hmm?" Suddenly, a handsome, cool, and aloof young man halted his steps. His gaze landed on Yang Yi, and a faint smile crossed his face. He thought to himself, "Unexpectedly, he’s also a Fudan student. Looks like we’re in the same class too. Hmm... interesting, very interesting!"
