Dunpu Port fell. Agon shot up like a rocket, piercing the gray port's shield and entering the vacuum of space.
"Go complete your mission."
Heras narrowed his eyes to slits, ripped off the robe draped over him, revealing his burly ape-like form, and charged out immediately after Agon.
"Yes!" Ulysses replied.
In the emptiness of space, two pinnacle masters, possessing immense power, faced off silently.
Heras produced a light-staff. With a zila sound, two golden-yellow light blades extended from opposite ends of the hilt. He spun the staff in his hands twice, pointing one end toward Agon.
"Even now, you refuse to show your true face?" Heras's mental projection echoed in Agon's mind.
Agon’s true form remained hidden beneath the full-body black robe. A hand encased in a black glove gripped a light-staff, emerging from the black fabric. With a zila sound, it too revealed two golden-yellow light blades!
"Jato is dead, Yego has not yet arrived. Do you presume to slay me with your lone strength?" Agon assumed a fighting stance and communicated via mental projection.
"I have no more idle words for you. Yego found you back then, and I let it be for the sake of the Legion's grand cause. But now, your existence threatens the Legion's plans. It is time to send you on your way!"
Heras flashed forward, arriving before Agon. His light-staff struck with the force of ten thousand mountains, colliding head-on with Agon's.
The staves locked for an instant before separating. Heras opened his right hand, five fingers extended, spewing a blood-red shockwave at Agon—a pillar of light approximately ten meters in diameter. Judging by its momentum, the light appeared utterly indestructible.
Agon dodged, leaving the shockwave's immediate path, yet the impact seemed to have locked onto him, following relentlessly like a shadow.
Agon’s expression was hidden by his black robe. He turned his wrist, holding the light-staff horizontally before him to meet the shockwave. As the blast reached him, the staff cleanly sliced it in half.
"This shockwave isn't purely an energy attack. It's energy bonded to material particles—both energy and matter attack. A lightsaber cannot absorb it!" Agon instantly perceived this from the resistance in his hands.
"This beam carries the attack power equivalent to a Level Five Blaster Cannon, initiated by the psychic focus on this small device on my wrist. For a near-master, a single shot would drain them dry," Heras said, extending his right hand to display a crimson-gold bracelet resembling a crown around his wrist. "This is the latest technological product from the Kustarians. Its power surpasses that of spells, and it activates faster. If you hadn't betrayed the Legion, perhaps you would possess one now."
"It’s the latest tech provided by the Kustarians, isn't it, Agon," Agon scoffed. "Hmph. Those butchers only know how to forge killing machines. What use are they to me!"
The residual push from the blast sent him backward, and the hat covering his head flew off.
Pinnacle Master Agon: he possessed a protruding muzzle and brow ridge, his face covered in bristly red fur! His eyes were blood-red goggles. Every detail confirmed that Agon was a small ape-man!
"How is this possible? Two ape pinnacle masters fighting outside Gray Port? Am I hallucinating, or is the telescope malfunctioning?"
On the roof of the Administration Building, Yang Ying pulled his eyes away from the eyepiece of the high-powered astronomical telescope, staring blankly at the starry sky. Realizing his naked eye couldn't perceive the battle in space, he quickly returned to the eyepiece, looking down.
Although Agon and Heras had smashed two holes in Gray Port’s external shield, causing the vacuum of space to rapidly drain air from the city, the breaches weren't large; the air loss rate was still acceptable. Therefore, Yang Ying didn't seal the outer armor, instead dispatching repair bots to plug the holes.
Of course, there was a more critical reason: sealing the outer armor meant losing sight of the two pinnacle masters’ battle!
The Kerrigan couple stood beside Yang Ying, doing exactly the same thing.
Fortunately, the rooftop’s astronomical telescopes were powerful enough—one for each of the three—allowing them to watch with rapt attention, utterly absorbed.
These were the legendary pinnacle masters; missing even a second now would result in a lifetime of regret!
As Kerrigan pressed his eye to the eyepiece, he spoke into his communicator, reporting the situation to the Thirteenth Fleet.
"Yes, yes, two ape pinnacle masters are fighting in the vacuum outside Gray Port. I’m not lying, nor am I mistaken. Master Garcia, you know me—do you think I’m a liar? Even if I were, who would believe such an outlandish lie? Oh, alright, I understand. Seeing is believing."
Kerrigan switched off the communicator and turned to Yang Ying. "Colonel Blade, Master Garcia wants us to send him a live feed of the battle."
Even as he spoke, his eyes never left the telescope.
"Since Master Garcia is interested, I'll arrange it."
Yang Ying summoned a Ghost operative and instructed him to find a long-range viewing device capable of transmitting images. The Ghost operative acknowledged the order and left. Throughout this process, Yang Ying’s attention remained fixed on the scene in the telescope.
Because the cosmic background was so dark, he had to rely on the faint sunlight filtering through the asteroid belt and the golden light emitted by the two light-staves to track the two figures moving and attacking in the scope.
They were incredibly fast!
Yang Ying knew they were tens of kilometers from Gray Port. At this distance, an object moving at the speed of sound should appear to crawl like an ant through the telescope, but the speed of the two figures in the lens nearly overwhelmed his vision.
Even now, he still couldn't definitively identify the two figures; he could vaguely guess one was Heras, but the other was completely unknown.
The trajectories of the two figures in the lens intersected and separated repeatedly, punctuated by dazzling spell attacks unleashed by both combatants.
These spells, in the vastness of space, showed little destructive power, but within Gray Port, they could easily have annihilated a significant portion of the urban district.
"It's fortunate they are fighting in a vacuum," Xanana murmured, breathing a sigh of relief. "Otherwise, the residual shockwaves from a battle of this magnitude could easily obliterate the entire city of Gray Port."
"If ape pinnacle masters possess such immense power, then human pinnacle masters must be equally formidable," Yang Ying felt a surge of emotion as a thought suddenly took root in his mind: A true man must live like this!
Survival and evolution were the central themes of all life, a universal truth even when spanning the entire cosmos.
The sheer might displayed by the pinnacle masters galvanized Yang Ying. He had never been so resolved to break through the barrier of the Master realm and achieve transcendence!
"Colonel, the item you requested has arrived."
The Ghost operative earlier returned, accompanied by two Riflemen carrying a large astronomical telescope. Its barrel was fitted with a row of ports for image output.
"Excellent, calibrate it immediately," Yang Ying commanded.
"Yes, sir."
The Ghost operative activated the telescope, adjusted its angle, set a series of parameters, and finally attached a wireless signal transmitter to a port. "It's ready, sir. You can receive the wireless signal directly through your communicators."
"Perfect."
Kerrigan and Lina immediately took out their communicators, searched for the signal, and linked the image feed to their screens. Sure enough, the battle scene in space appeared on their devices.
Kerrigan dialed Master Garcia, synchronizing the image transmission.
Upon receiving the image, Master Garcia convened a video conference immediately, summoning Randolph, over a dozen senior officers from the Thirteenth Fleet, and several veteran masters from the Psionic Temple Council to jointly devise a countermeasure.
Clearly, given this efficiency, the news of two ape pinnacle masters fighting outside Gray Port was critically important!
Seeing this, Yang Ying’s mind suddenly drifted to Master Pang Qian.
In the world of the Awakened, his knowledge remained extremely shallow compared to the masters who had accumulated centuries of experience. The disparity was astronomical.
Perhaps consulting Master Pang Qian about these two ape pinnacle masters could yield insights he hadn't considered.
Thus, Yang Ying transmitted the image feed to his main body located at the base, which then dialed Master Pang Qian's private communicator.
"Young man, what requires my attention?" Master Pang Qian’s image appeared on the holographic screen. He seemed to be meditating in a quiet room and looked quite surprised by Yang Ying’s call.
"Master, there is a matter here upon which I seek the guidance of your wisdom." Yang Ying forwarded the image.
"This is..." Master Pang Qian's face registered astonishment. He clearly understood the implications of this image.
"Two ape pinnacle masters are battling outside Gray Port. One is likely Heras, the leader of the Ape Cult. We have no clue about the other ape." Yang Ying explained.
"There is only one ape pinnacle master who would fight Heras. You are young, so it's understandable you haven't heard this history," Master Pang Qian sighed as if reminiscing. "Pinnacle Master Agon, after being missing for over thirty years, has finally reappeared."
"Agon?" Yang Ying finally learned the name of the other ape pinnacle master.
Master Pang Qian nodded and explained, "Over fifty years ago, when the Ancient Legion launched its full invasion of the Solar System, Agon was a staunch anti-war advocate. When the fighting began, he retreated into seclusion in the Solar System to avoid involvement. There were hints of his presence for a time, but thirty years ago, he vanished without a trace. The Ancient Legion still regards him as a traitor."
"Are there pacifists among the ape-men?" Yang Ying asked, intrigued.
"Of course. I have seen noble ape-men and vile Terrans. Nobility or vileness should not be judged by race," Master Pang Qian stated soberly.
While Yang Ying's main body was speaking with Master Pang Qian, on the rooftop of the Gray Port Administration Building, a purple lightsaber suddenly materialized above Blade’s head like lightning!
"Ulysses!" Kerrigan instantly drew his silver lightsaber and moved to intercept.
