A torrent of pure white light burst forth with Mo Han's magic, instantly flooding the entire surrounding space. As the white light struck Zamus, the creature let out a piercing shriek. The scales covering Zamus's body began to emit plumes of black smoke upon contact with the light.
A pungent, scorched odor emanated from Zamus, yet in the final moment, he managed to rely on his own strength, swiftly shifting his body and forcing his way out of the area where Mo Han's magic was being unleashed.
This light-based magic was undoubtedly the most potent weapon against the dark-aligned Underworld Clan. Typically, being struck by such high-level Light Magic resulted in nothing less than complete purification. However, Zamus was, after all, one of the Ten Underworld Generals of the Underworld Clan, and thanks to the protection afforded by the layer of green scales covering him, he was not instantly purified.
Even so, Zamus, now sprawled on the ground, looked utterly half-dead. Every scale on his body had been burned black by Mo Han's magic, emitting a foul, rotting stench. His head was scorched beyond recognition, and his nose and eyes were almost completely featureless due to the magic’s effect.
What was truly astonishing was that despite such grievous injuries, Zamus had not yet breathed his last. He only continued to howl piteously on the ground, the tragic sound carrying far, sending chills down the spine of anyone who heard it.
After a long while, Zamus finally ceased his wretched cries.
Yet, it was plainly obvious to everyone that this Underworld General of the Earth was at the end of his tether. Magic unleashed by a God of Magic was something even the Ten Underworld Generals could not withstand. Although Zamus had managed to avoid immediate death through sheer fortitude, the fate of perishing was ultimately unavoidable.
Mo Han, who had been standing calmly nearby, observed the scene, fully aware of the might of his own spell.
Mo Han knew perfectly well that Zamus could not escape death, so he was in no hurry to end the creature’s life. He hoped to extract some useful intelligence from Zamus before the Underworld King arrived, even though he understood the chances were slim.
But the matter was too critical; Mo Han had to try.
“Tell me the Underworld King’s plan, and perhaps I will grant you a quicker death.”
Facing the Zamus before him, Mo Han slowly voiced his intention.
Upon hearing Mo Han’s question, Zamus paid him no mind whatsoever. Instead, he spoke slowly toward the west in his now-hoarse voice: “The legendary God of Magic truly lives up to his reputation. I, Zamus, am thoroughly defeated and accept my loss. I die without regret, having served His Majesty the Underworld King in his grand undertaking. My only sorrow is that I cannot witness the day His Majesty conquers this continent. But His Majesty will surely avenge me. When that time comes, you humble humans will regret ever opposing the Underworld Clan, ha-ha-ha…”
Hearing Zamus’s arrogant words, the members of the Church of Light flashed looks of intense anger. If Mo Han had not been present, these people from the Church of Light would have undoubtedly unleashed several more purification spells upon Zamus without hesitation. After all, humans and the Underworld Clan were mortal enemies; such an action would have been entirely appropriate.
Mo Han, however, stared at the scene coldly, his expression utterly unchanging.
To be frank, Mo Han held a degree of admiration for Zamus’s courage—knowing death was certain, yet showing no sign of flinching.
By comparison, what Mo Han admired even more was the never-before-seen Underworld King, Hades. Setting aside Hades’s raw power, the mere fact that he commanded such absolute, devoted loyalty from Zamus was enough to cause deep concern. Moreover, the Underworld seemed rife with Underworld Clan members who were fanatically devoted to the Underworld King like Hades, which compounded Mo Han’s worries about the impending war between humankind and the Underworld Clan.
As Zamus’s laughter gradually faded, he completed his final mission on the Dragon Ascent Continent. His body slowly dissolved into wisps of black mist under the efficacy of Mo Han’s magic, vanishing into the air. This signified that his soul had also been utterly destroyed, preventing any return to the Underworld.
Only after witnessing Zamus's complete annihilation did Mo Han and his companions withdraw, finally returning to Dragon Sky City. Although they had gained no useful intelligence, weakening the Underworld Clan’s strength by eliminating a General before their main army arrived was certainly a positive outcome.
In the following period, under the diligent efforts of the Church of Light, the major powers across the Dragon Ascent Continent achieved an unprecedented alliance. This included the Beastmen tribes, who had long been hostile to humans, the Elves who dwelled deep within the Elven Forest, as well as the sparsely populated Dwarves and Gnomes, all uniting to confront this continental crisis.
Reinforcements continued to stream in ceaselessly from every corner of the continent, converging on Seahaven City, the largest city in the eastern sector of the Dragon Sky Empire. After careful consideration, Mo Han and the others decided to entirely abandon the more than ten cities situated east of the Dragon Sky Empire.
Due to geographical limitations, these cities were not particularly large, and because of the presence of the Transverse Mountain Range, the Dragon Sky Empire had never anticipated an attack from that direction. Consequently, the defenses in the eastern territories were sorely lacking in robust fortifications.
Therefore, Mo Han and his allies concluded that rather than stubbornly defending cities that were likely to fall at any moment, it was better to shift the battlefield directly to the location of Seahaven City. This was the tallest and most solid city in the eastern region of the empire, as its fall would directly threaten the safety of the Imperial Capital, Dragon Sky City.
For this reason, successive emperors of the Dragon Sky Empire had established several key military strongholds around the capital, and Seahaven City served as the easternmost of these. Now, it proved to be perfectly situated for their purpose, which is why Mo Han and the others chose it as the primary battleground for humanity’s defense against the main Underworld army.
This decision received strong support from the Church of Light, which utilized its extensive continental network to assist the Dragon Sky Empire in urgently evacuating the eastern populace. Fortunately, the east was not as economically developed as other regions of the empire, meaning the population density was lower than elsewhere.
After nearly half a month of urgent relocation, the evacuation task was largely complete.
Another pressing matter was the mobilization of sufficient military forces to counter the massive invasion of the Underworld Clan. Although time constraints meant it was impossible to fully assemble the entire continent's strength before the main army arrived, this moment was critical to the survival of every race on the continent, so no power dared to hold back any reservations. All factions dispatched their most capable vanguard units to Seahaven City.
While the numbers in these vanguard forces were not overwhelming, every soldier belonged to the elite corps of their respective empires or major powers, meaning their combat capability was naturally exceptional.
Simultaneously, the Judgment Knights of the Church of Light, led by the Pontifex of Light, successfully arrived at Seahaven City. Accompanying them were the Saintess Shui Ling’er, as well as the Ascetic Elders and the remaining Cardinals of the Church of Light. Forces from the Church of Light and other factions continued to pour into Seahaven City from across the continent. Coupled with the Dragon Sky Empire's troops urgently redeployed to the city, Seahaven, originally designed to house a population of five hundred thousand, suddenly swelled to a terrifying nearly two million inhabitants.
Although Seahaven was a crucial military hub, the sudden influx of such a massive army placed a considerable strain on its resources. Fortunately, Mo Han and the others had anticipated this situation. With the assistance of the Church of Light, and using the Church’s authority, they managed to assign some of the forces that could not be billeted within the main city to two nearby subsidiary cities and some hastily constructed temporary military fortresses, thus alleviating the pressure on Seahaven.
Since the Church of Light remained the foremost human power on the continent, all other factions showed deference, ensuring the process proceeded smoothly. While there were some complaints from certain groups, they were brief. Furthermore, the reception officials from the Dragon Sky Empire made every effort to satisfy the requirements regarding lodging and provisions for these diverse forces, preventing any major disorder. If all these armies had been crammed into Seahaven, given the underlying friction that existed between various factions—even though Mo Han trusted most would prioritize the greater good—there was no guarantee that everyone would remain quiescent. Any outbreak of unrest among predominantly military personnel within the city walls would have created immense trouble.
Seeing everything proceed according to plan brought Mo Han a slight measure of relief. The strength gathered here, if not the entirety of the continent’s might, certainly represented at least half of it, with reinforcements still arriving continuously. Mo Han believed that even if the Underworld Clan arrived at Seahaven City now, breaking through would not be an easy task.
Because the Dragon Sky Emperor had delegated complete command of this mobilization to Mo Han, in the days that followed, Mo Han, like all officials of the Dragon Sky Empire, was frantically busy, working around the clock with no time for rest, yet still unable to keep up with the workload.
It was only thanks to the assistance of capable helpers like Daili and Murong Feixue, along with the unprecedented gesture of the Pontifex of Light allowing Shui Ling’er to assist Mo Han in command, that the situation remained manageable. These women were all highly skilled in military matters. Daili, being royalty, was naturally familiar with military knowledge. Murong Feixue was already a renowned general of the empire. Even Shui Ling’er was counted among the foremost military strategists in the Church of Light. With their help, Mo Han could barely cope with the current demands; otherwise, knowing his own limitations—being better suited for fighting or scheming than commanding a major battle—he shuddered to think what chaos would have engulfed Seahaven City by now.
At this point, only one day remained until the predicted date of the Underworld Clan’s invasion. However, the broad strokes of the plan were mostly settled; the remaining minor details were entrusted to subordinate officials for execution. Mo Han, Shui Ling’er, Daili, and Murong Feixue finally had a rare opportunity to sit down and rest in the City Lord’s Residence of Seahaven City.
Mo Han had initially worried about the dynamic when so many women were gathered together. With the exception of Liu Yanran, the Dark Saintess, who was left behind in Dragon Sky City due to her health, it seemed all the other women with whom Mo Han shared ambiguous, intimate relationships had converged here. This included the Saintess of Light, Shui Ling’er, along with Daili, Murong Feixue, and Bai Ling. With Mo Han present, all were gathered in the main hall of the City Lord’s Residence. However, things did not unfold in the direction Mo Han had feared. The women, gathered together, were chatting away quite happily. Even the usually taciturn Bai Ling managed a rare smile. Instead, they completely sidelined Mo Han, the male protagonist, leaving him no room to interject, as if he barely existed.
These women seemed to share a silent, mutual understanding. Whenever Mo Han tried to speak, he was interrupted, never given a chance to voice his thoughts. This left Mo Han forcing strained smiles. He understood perfectly that while these women might not voice their complaints aloud, they were certainly displeased with his philandering nature and were using this rare opportunity to seek light retribution.
Feeling guilty, Mo Han dared not argue. He merely offered a quick excuse and slipped out of the hall, letting out a sigh of relief. He felt more exhausted than if he had fought a pitched battle with the Underworld King. Who ever said having many women was always a good thing? Mo Han certainly didn’t feel that way now. He wandered aimlessly through the garden alone.
Just as Mo Han was feeling bored, a familiar voice drifted from across the way: “Oh, why has our Casanova left his cozy haven to come out here and catch a breeze?”
Princess Rou Xue, clad in white, stood with her two guards and several dragons from the Sacred Dragon Clan, not far from Mo Han, staring at his crestfallen expression with an air of triumphant amusement, as if seeing Mo Han vexed was her greatest pleasure.
“Girl, I’m in no mood to argue today. Don’t bother me,” Mo Han replied listlessly.
“Hmph, serves you right for being such a flirt,” Rou Xue retorted with a smug look that made Mo Han genuinely want to deliver a swift kick to the brat’s face, or perhaps give her a sharp rap on the head. But with so many people watching, Mo Han dared not act. If the zealous dragons saw him strike their princess’s noble head, they would surely fight him to the death. Mo Han wasn't foolish enough for that; it remained only a thought. He ignored Rou Xue, offered a brief smile to the familiar dragons beside her, and prepared to leave.
However, just then, Mo Han seemed to sense something. His expression suddenly shifted to one of delighted surprise. He looked up toward the distant sky, then rapidly activated his flight magic and soared into the air above Seahaven City.
Rou Xue and the others, puzzled by Mo Han’s inexplicable action, followed him up into the air, standing together to observe.
Not long after, the most powerful Dragon Elder among them changed expression, speaking with grave seriousness: “What an immensely powerful Dragon aura. Could it be that the Clan Chief has arrived so soon?” At this moment, the other members of the Sacred Dragon Clan also perceived this formidable presence, their faces etched with confusion. Their Clan Chief had explicitly stated he wouldn't arrive this early, yet the aura before them was incredibly strong. Besides the Sacred Dragon Chief, they genuinely could not conceive of another dragon possessing such an aura, hence their bewildered looks.
“It’s not your Chief. But there is one other among your Dragon Clan who possesses God-level strength. Didn't I mention him to you all? Have you forgotten?” Mo Han explained with a smile from the side.
Hearing Mo Han’s explanation, Rou Xue was the first to react, exclaiming with delight: “Brother Mo Han, are you saying Brother Briz is back?” In her excitement, Rou Xue entirely forgot her intention to tease Mo Han and immediately used a respectful form of address.
Mo Han nodded with a smile. “That’s right, it’s Briz. I can sense his aura.”
As Mo Han finished speaking, a streak of golden light rapidly appeared in the distant sky, speeding toward Seahaven City. In just a few moments, it reached Mo Han and the others. The golden light dispersed, revealing Briz, still dressed in black, his face showing clear exhaustion.
“Brother Briz, is it really you?” Rou Xue reacted first. Ignoring the crowd, she shouted Briz’s name and lunged toward him, immediately throwing herself into his embrace.
Seeing Rou Xue, a genuine smile spread across Briz’s face. He chuckled, affectionately stroking her head, and said, “Girl, it’s been so long, yet you’re still this fiery and impetuous.” His tone was brimming with undisguised affection.
