Mo Han hurriedly patted his chest, saying, "As long as it’s within my power, I certainly won't refuse."
Though deeply thrilled inside, Mo Han was careful not to burn his bridges; if what Bryce asked of him was something he couldn't manage, he’d have an excuse to decline.
Bryce, however, seemed not to catch the subtle implication in Mo Han’s words. His expression remained unchanged, but he smiled and interjected, "Put that aside. With your current capabilities, the tasks I need help with shouldn't be too difficult for you."
Hearing Bryce’s assurance, Mo Han finally relaxed. Since the other party had put it that way, and considering how much he had already benefited from him, refusing now would actually make Mo Han feel an unprecedented sense of shame. Thus, upon hearing Bryce’s words, Mo Han readily agreed without hesitation.
Bryce continued, "Since you know my background, you can probably guess that I was framed. I didn't kill Elder Grandfather back then; it was Elder Blade. He took advantage when Grandfather was inattentive and used Seven Night Grass brewed into tea. Grandfather, being unprepared, fell victim to Blade's treachery and drank the tea steeped with the Seven Night Grass."
"Seven Night Grass."
Mo Han murmured the name slowly. He was already familiar with that substance. At the time, all the Dragon Clan believed Bryce had poisoned the Old Patriarch by tricking him into drinking the Seven Night Grass venom. No one suspected Elder Blade was the actual perpetrator.
"That’s right,"
Bryce affirmed, picking up where Mo Han left off. "The Seven Night Grass is something even the Dragon Clan cannot resist."
"However, Grandfather was a God-level master even then. While the Seven Night Grass possesses a fatal potency for ordinary dragons, for Grandfather, although it could severely impair his strength, it wasn't enough to make him collapse. Seeing Grandfather poisoned, that Blade revealed his true colors. His real objective was the Dragon Clan's supreme treasure, the 'Seven Star Dragon Pearl.'"
"This Blade somehow learned of another function of the Seven Star Dragon Pearl,"
Bryce explained, "and thus, he wickedly coveted its energy, hoping to use it to boost himself to the God level. But how could Grandfather possibly hand over the Seven Star Dragon Pearl to such a malicious wretch? Consequently, a fight broke out between him and Blade."
Speaking of this, even though Bryce had reached the God realm, he couldn't help grinding his teeth in anger, "It’s a pity Grandfather was poisoned by the Seven Night Grass, preventing him from unleashing his full power. He had less than one-tenth of his usual strength. Even exerting his utmost, he couldn't match that old fox Blade, and was soon defeated. Under Blade’s coercion..."
"...Grandfather used the brief moments during their exchange, while Blade was momentarily distracted, to channel his remaining magic power to send me, along with the Seven Star Dragon Pearl, outside. He wanted me to alert the other members of the Sacred Dragon Clan and expose Blade’s conspiracy. But when Blade saw his scheme about to be revealed, he actually struck down and killed Grandfather, and then turned to injure me."
At this point, Bryce managed a bitter laugh, saying with resignation, "What happened next is the version you heard. I became the murderer of Grandfather and was relentlessly hunted by the entire Sacred Dragon Clan. After surviving nine deaths and escaping peril, I finally reached this Ancient Blue Relic, where I found the letter and some ancient martial arts left by my Master. I have been hiding here cultivating ever since, hoping for the day I can personally avenge Grandfather and clear the misunderstanding everyone holds against me."
Mo Han nodded upon hearing this and remarked, "I heard from the current Sacred Dragon Patriarch that the Clan must have searched for you in this Ancient Blue Relic during this time, correct?" Bryce nodded in response, "That's correct. Although I hid in the Ancient Blue Relic, the Dragon Clan's power is immense. They found the Ancient Blue Relic in just a few decades. But for some unknown reason, whenever those Sacred Dragon Clan members enter the perimeter of the Ancient Blue Relic, their power is almost completely stripped away, leaving them with less than one-tenth of their strength. Furthermore, this power limitation only affects powerful beings like the Dragon Clan; it barely affects other races."
"But I possess treasures left by my Master, so I am not restricted by these limitations. Consequently, even if the Sacred Dragon Patriarch sent his top experts, they couldn't defeat me. After several attempts, they realized they couldn't beat me within the Ancient Blue Relic's boundaries and were forced to temporarily retreat. This has persisted until now; the Sacred Dragon Clan has not sought me out since."
Hearing Bryce's explanation, Mo Han finally understood why Bryce’s strength wasn't affected by the Ancient Blue Relic’s power—a formidable Master had already prepared everything for him. No wonder Bryce held such reverence for his Master.
However, Mo Han was also intensely curious about what incredible item Bryce's Master had left him that could counteract the ancient gods' lingering restrictions specifically targeting the Dragon Clan. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but inquire.
Bryce readily agreed to Mo Han's request, pulling out a palm-sized yellow stone and smiling as he presented it. "It's this. However, this item only has a limiting effect on the Ancient Blue Relic's power. Additionally, it can greatly accelerate our Dragon Clan's cultivation progress. The fact that I could become a Magic God—this stone helped me immensely. So, it is effective only for our Dragon Clan, because other races are not restricted by the Relic’s power in the first place, and the acceleration feature has no effect on them. Therefore, even if they took it, it would be useless."
Looking at the unassuming yellow stone before him, Mo Han and Bai Ling were somewhat astonished. They never imagined such an ordinary-looking stone could help Bryce ascend to the God realm; it seemed utterly incredible. Yet, neither Mo Han nor Bai Ling perceived anything unusual about the stone.
One could say that apart from its strange color, the stone looked no different from an ordinary rock. Mo Han, with Bryce's permission, even touched it but still discovered nothing remarkable. It seemed Bryce was correct; this stone truly only worked on the Dragon Clan.
To prove his claim, Bryce reached out, picked up the stone, and channeled a faint trace of magic power into it. Upon contact with Bryce’s magic, the stone began ravenously absorbing ambient energy, continuously converting it into magical energy which flowed inexorably through Bryce's hands and into his body.
Witnessing this scene,
Mo Han and Bai Ling were stunned. Given the speed at which the stone absorbed magical elements, it was definitely much faster than a mage could manage alone. With such a treasure assisting him,
it was a matter of achieving twice the result with half the effort for Bryce. He could accomplish in one day what others took several days to achieve. No wonder Bryce claimed the stone helped him so much. It was a pity the stone was only effective for dragons and utterly useless for humans. Otherwise, Mo Han truly wished he could borrow it from Bryce to help Bai Ling advance; with the stone's aid, Mo Han was sure Bai Ling could break through her current bottleneck and reach the God level very quickly.
After concluding his explanations to Mo Han, Bryce pointed at the spatial ring Mo Han held,
and said seriously, "Inside this, there are many lost spells and ancient martial arts that should greatly aid your cultivation. My condition is that after you master everything within, you must personally help me deal with Blade. You absolutely cannot allow that Blade to continue harming the Sacred Dragon Clan. Only then can my injustice be cleared."
Mo Han was not surprised by Bryce’s demand. When Bryce recounted the earlier events, Mo Han had already vaguely guessed the terms, so he showed no astonishment upon hearing them. He merely frowned slightly and stated, "But Blade currently holds a high position of authority within the Sacred Dragon Clan. Even if we return and reveal the truth, I fear the Clan won't believe us. This would make it very difficult to clear your name."
Bryce smiled upon hearing this and replied, "Worry not. I can give you something that will expose Blade’s true nature, no matter how cunning he is."
Having said this, Bryce smiled and pointed toward the shattered Seven Star Dragon Pearl Mo Han had set aside, saying with a grin, "The evidence you need is right here."
Seeing Mo Han's puzzled look, Bryce lowered his head and chanted a few soft incantations. Then, a stream of blue magical energy flowed directly into the pile of glass-like shards of the Seven Star Dragon Pearl. At that moment, a golden light emerged from above the broken fragments, gradually forming a screen.
In the center of the screen, three figures were visible. Mo Han recognized two of them: one was Elder Blade of the Sacred Dragon Clan, whom Mo Han had met previously, and the other was Bryce himself, sitting before him now. Although the Bryce in the screen appeared much younger than the one present, Mo Han instantly recognized him. The last figure bore a slight resemblance to the Sacred Dragon Patriarch Mo Han had met. Seeing these figures, Mo Han seemed to grasp something and exclaimed in surprise, "Does the Seven Star Dragon Pearl record fragments of what happens?"
Bryce smiled and nodded, "That's correct. Another function of the Seven Star Dragon Pearl is temporal recording. Even when shattered into pieces, it doesn't affect its recording capabilities. However, only a master who has reached the God realm can utilize this function; ordinary people absolutely cannot activate it."
"What you are seeing now is a result of Grandfather exhausting his power to activate this feature of the Seven Star Dragon Pearl. This is also why Blade has been so desperate to retrieve the Dragon Pearl."
"Wait a minute," Mo Han interjected, recalling what Bryce had said earlier, a slight confusion in his voice. "Didn't you say Grandfather’s abilities were greatly diminished due to the Seven Night Grass? How could he still activate this?"
Bryce explained, "I mentioned that only those who have reached the Magic God realm can automatically activate this function. It doesn't require the magic power of a Magic God to initiate. So, even when Grandfather was injured, he still possessed the capability to activate this. But if one hasn't reached the Magic God realm, no matter how powerful they are, it’s useless."
At this moment, the floating images above the screen began to flicker, showing scene after scene from the past flying before Mo Han and the others. Astonishingly, even sound was preserved—it was practically identical to the projectors Mo Han had known on Earth, though the visual quality was much clearer. Mo Han was certain that with this evidence, even the most cunning Blade would have no room for denial. It was no wonder Bryce was so confident.
Bai Ling, standing nearby, expressed some confusion. "Excuse me, Lord Bryce, since you possess this evidence and are now a God-level expert, why don't you go to the Sacred Dragon Clan yourself to explain things clearly? If these matters came from your own mouth, wouldn't it be even more convincing? Moreover, with your current God-level strength, even if the Sacred Dragon Clan members doubted you, you should have no problem leaving, right? Wouldn't that be better?"
Bryce shook his head with a helpless, bitter smile, "If I could leave this place, I would have left long ago. Why wait until now?" Seeing Mo Han and Bai Ling looking bewildered, Bryce continued, "Originally, I could have left, but I hadn't reached the Magic God realm yet, so leaving would have been pointless. However, just as I successfully advanced to Magic God, certain events transpired that prevent me from leaving this place. I must ask your pardon for not being able to disclose the reason right now."
Hearing Bryce's explanation, although Mo Han and Bai Ling were intensely curious about what could possibly trap a Magic God like Bryce, they were wise enough not to press the matter further.
