The morning air in winter was indeed rather biting, but today it felt exceptionally warm, with tendrils of sunlight streaming through the window, illuminating a small figure. The girl looked around, her face etched with confusion, then she hopped off the bed, suddenly seeming to spot something.
"Hehe, why is Brother Yi sleeping on the floor? Huh... what is this big sister doing?" Murong Lianxue looked at Yang Yi embracing Li Qian and sleeping soundly, her expression full of bewilderment. But moments later, she pouted, climbed onto the bed, tilted her head down, and stared at the two bundled together under the quilt. "Hmph—Brother Yi doesn't love Lianxue anymore, sleeping with this big sister and not hugging me."
Ugh, if anyone had witnessed this, they would likely have smacked their head against the wall immediately. But after Murong Lianxue spoke, she couldn't help but nudge Yang Yi, calling out, "Brother Yi, wake up quickly! The sun is shining on your bottom!"
"Mmm?" Li Qian, appearing thoroughly refreshed after yesterday evening's adult initiation, reluctantly opened her eyes. Seeing a pair of bright, watery young eyes staring at her, Li Qian cried out in alarm, "Ah!"
"What's wrong, Big Sister?" Murong Lianxue asked with an adorable, bright smile.
Li Qian didn't answer. After a moment of stunned silence, she glanced at Yang Yi beside her, then at Murong Lianxue, quickly covering her mouth and taking a deep breath.
Murong Lianxue grew even more curious; why was this Big Sister’s face turning redder and redder?
"Little Sister Lianxue, could you please turn your head away for a moment!" Li Qian managed to squeeze out a smile and spoke softly to Murong Lianxue.
"Oh!" Murong Lianxue hummed. Although perplexed, she obediently turned her head away.
Li Qian hurriedly tried to break free from Yang Yi’s embrace, but with the slightest movement, a flash of lightning-like pain shot through certain areas. Her face instantly turned deathly pale. Thankfully, she possessed some internal fortitude, and slowly managed to sit up, gently pulling on her clothes. Seeing the red stain on the white sheet, she froze for a second, then quickly tried to shift the quilt off Yang Yi. But the mere act of moving it caused her face to flush crimson once more.
At that very moment, Yang Yi seemed to stir awake. He opened his eyes, looking at her with confusion, but a moment later, understanding dawned on him. He pulled the blanket off himself, then looked up at Murong Lianxue, who was staring resolutely out the window. Yang Yi jolted, swiftly grabbing his clothes and dressing himself in a hurry.
Li Qian watched, unsure if it was amusement or shyness; in any case, she gazed at Yang Yi’s flustered dressing with a smile coloring her naturally rosy cheeks.
In less than a minute, Yang Yi was fully dressed, just as the room door was tapped.
"Young Master, are you awake?" Feng Shi's voice called from outside.
Yang Yi let out a wry chuckle and said, "Come in!"
Hearing Yang Yi’s voice, Murong Lianxue immediately spun around, exclaiming, "Ah! Brother Yi, you’re awake!" She launched herself onto Yang Yi, clinging to him—this kind of affectionate behavior had clearly become second nature to her. This was understandable, as she was still unfamiliar with the people, events, and objects of modern society. Although she had read some modern literature, having spent so long with that unscrupulous old man had left her with decidedly antiquated ways.
"Mmm," Yang Yi murmured, relieved that she hadn't mentioned the previous events.
Feng Shi entered, carrying several sets of clothes, and placed them on a nearby table. "Young Master, these are your clothes. Please wash up and change. We have some for Sister Lianxue too."
"Ah? Really?" Murong Lianxue jumped down from Yang Yi, suddenly beaming with excitement at the news.
Yang Yi looked at Li Qian and said, "You and Lianxue should go wash up."
"En," Li Qian replied, her face still flushed scarlet.
After a round of vigorous washing and scrubbing, Yang Yi and the others changed into their clean attire.
It had to be said, when Murong Lianxue put on a set of Western-style tailcoat attire—a woman’s version, naturally—she underwent a transformation. Her previously cute and crisp face, with its bright, watery eyes, was now framed by the formal women's tails, making her look every bit the little princess. Coupled with the aura emanating from her youth, the effect was simply astonishing.
On the way to First High School, although the examinations had concluded, Yang Yi had not attended the final test, meaning a visit to the school was necessary. Furthermore, First High had not officially started its summer break; all students were still attending classes, with one sole purpose: awaiting the results announcement.
"By the way, Brother Yi, there's a birthday party tomorrow night, hosted by the great beauty Leng Yue, apparently. Are you going?" Fatty Lin suddenly seemed to remember, handing Yang Yi a red invitation card.
Yang Yi took the card, glanced over it, and a smile touched his lips. "Go? Why wouldn't I go?"
"Tsk tsk, this time I must—hehe!" Fatty Lin chuckled with a distinctly roguish grin.
This prompted a remark from Murong Lianxue that nearly silenced Fatty Lin: "Brother Fatty, your smile is very indecent, just like those villainous criminals."
"Uh!" Fatty Lin froze, dumbfounded.
The others burst into laughter upon hearing this.
"Second Brother, look, even little Sister Lianxue is commenting on you. Just drop it!" Ye Xiaohou teased.
"Damn it, aren't you just as indecent, you brat?" Fatty Lin grumbled miserably.
Indeed, to be called indecent by a little girl when he was a grown man was quite a blow to his pride, so it was no wonder he was upset.
The car traveled slowly, and in a short while, they arrived at the gates of First High. Once out of the vehicle, their direct destination was the Principal's office.
After walking for a bit, just as they reached the office door, a familiar voice began singing loudly: "The Lin sister who fell from the sky, I love you so much I’m worn out..."
"Damn, is this old man crazy?" Yang Yi cursed inwardly just as he was about to knock.
"Shit!" Fatty Lin echoed the curse.
"Holy crap!" Ye Xiaohou exclaimed in shock.
"Son of a bitch, that old fogey is shameless!" Xu Ming sneered disdainfully.
"Grandpa!" Li Qian stomped her foot, her face burning with shame. This old man was clearly losing his decorum, singing such songs at school! After calling out, she immediately pushed the door open and walked in.
Principal Li started, startled to find them outside. His brow furrowed briefly upon seeing Yang Yi, but then his face broke into a smile as he addressed him. "Stinking kid, you’ve finally returned?"
"Of course, but you don’t need such a disgusting welcome. I’m not going to bring you a Lin sister, and singing that song was nauseating. Damn, it gave me the creeps," Yang Yi retorted contemptuously, clearly showing no deference to the Principal’s status.
"Stinking kid..." Principal Li instantly regretted his timing. These fellows always arrived at the most inconvenient moments, right when he was singing that particular song. Even with his thick skin, his aged face flushed red. "Alright, what brings you here?"
"The university matter, naturally!"
"Tch. I thought it was something important. Isn't it just a declaration of intent form? Little I." The Principal seemed to be in an unusually good mood today. He pulled a paper from his drawer and handed it to Yang Yi. "Go ahead and fill this out. Leave the rest to me."
"My goodness, has this old guy lost his mind today?" Yang Yi was suspicious but didn't argue; filling out the form and letting the Principal handle the processing was efficient enough. However, after glancing at the smiling Murong Lianxue standing beside him, Yang Yi added, "Old man, give me another one. She wants to go too!"
"Who?" Principal Li seemed to notice Murong Lianxue only then. But upon seeing her, his eyes glazed over in a stunned silence that lasted a moment before he finally spoke, "That might be difficult. How old is this little sprout? She wants to attend university?"
Though he spoke that way, his thoughts were different. He was no ordinary man; he could sense that the little girl standing there presented a danger greater than Yang Yi himself, as far as conventional sense went.
"Damn it... Old man, what exactly do you want for you to help me?" Yang Yi asked, his eyes narrowing.
"Can't you speak with some decency? Decency!" Principal Li scolded, though his face betrayed his utter lack of concern.
Li Qian, seeing Yang Yi about to lose his temper, turned to her grandfather and pleaded, "Grandpa, please agree to what Yi asks, won't you?"
Principal Li dreaded and doted on Li Qian the most. Seeing her expression—which was less a smile and more a plea—made him deeply uncomfortable. Yet, he genuinely faced a dilemma; how could an eight-year-old girl, at most, enroll in a university? That sounded like a joke.
"Sigh, it's not that I won't help him, it’s that I truly can't. How old is this child? I doubt she's even ten."
"Hehe, old man, you won't help me, will you?" Yang Yi suddenly grinned wickedly, staring at Principal Li with a rather suggestive expression.
"What the hell is that look? My God, could it be..." Principal Li mused internally, glancing nervously at Li Qian beside him, thinking, A daughter grows up and is no longer his to keep. However, the next words from Li Qian made him even more skeptical.
