Nolan’s decision was not a sudden impulse; he had given it thought. He knew the personalities of several of his classmates; if he didn’t take them along, they certainly wouldn’t stay put, perhaps even attempting a late-night scout, which would undoubtedly be more dangerous.
By leading them, at the very least, his presence could prevent them from messing around and might satisfy their curiosity!
Isaac and the other four stared at Nolan in astonishment. They all thought they must have misheard!
“Are you planning to come with me now, or wait a little longer?” Nolan glanced at them.
“You—you really plan to take us?” Isaac asked dazedly.
He now suspected Nolan might have become unbalanced from the stress; why else would he refuse to say anything earlier and then agree so readily now?
“Of course, but you have to behave!” Nolan didn't forget to caution them.
“Nolan, don’t worry, we just want to look out of curiosity; we won’t actually do anything. Don't you trust us?” Isaac quickly interjected, looking impatient.
Nolan shot him a look that seemed to say: I’m saying this precisely because I don’t trust you!
Just as Isaac was clamoring to leave immediately, Brandt spoke up: “Perhaps we should wait a bit before going!”
Isaac looked at Brandt, his expression asking: Why do you always contradict me?
Brandt smiled and explained, “Have you forgotten? Edgar and I just saw them leaving, so they can’t possibly be back so soon!”
Edgar blinked, realizing the implication as well. Finally, they all reluctantly settled back into their chairs.
Afterward, the group chatted about various trivial topics, and time passed quickly!
At Edgar’s renewed insistence, the five finally proceeded toward the "Fengshao Courtyard" under Nolan’s guidance. By this time, Zhong Shenxiu and his group had already returned quite a while ago.
“Remember, don’t cause any trouble!” Nolan reminded the five repeatedly.
“Just leave it to us!” Edgar was eager to fly over there immediately!
“Especially you, I worry about you the most. If you make any sudden moves, I’ll knock you out first. Don’t say I didn’t warn you beforehand!” Nolan said half-seriously, half-jokingly.
Edgar merely turned his head away, pretending not to have heard.
Just then, Brandt suddenly cried out, “Look, it’s that group!” He pointed forward with his hand!
Everyone followed his gesture and indeed saw Zhong Shenxiu’s party walking along majestically; the one leading was none other than Cherie!
Nolan froze instantly, and the others stopped as well!
In no time, Cherie and the others were drawing nearer.
“Second Brother, where are you heading off to?” Unexpectedly, Cherie spoke first, asking.
“N-nothing!” Nolan stammered, realizing he couldn't very well say: We were just about to look for you!
However, Nolan’s eyes were now fixed intently on Kaine. He had always found this woman alluring, but now she seemed even more so!
After Edgar’s gaze fell upon Kaine, it never left her; he didn’t even spare a glance for Zhong Shenxiu or Robin beside her. It seemed that compared to the mystery of a child, beautiful women were simply more eye-catching!
Kaine wore a faint, elusive smile the entire time and didn’t appear uncomfortable under the direct stares of the flushed youths.
“Second Brother, I won’t chat with you anymore; we are heading out!” Cherie said, making to leave.
“Where are you going?” Nolan quickly asked.
“We’re going to the ‘Tianxing Hotel’ for dinner!” Cherie replied with a smile.
While not the most luxurious in the ‘City of Dreamy Evenings,’ the “Tianxing Hotel” was the largest in the vicinity—the food there was quite expensive, but exceptionally delicious!
“Perfect timing, we were planning on going there too. Let’s go together!” Isaac, seeing Kaine’s group about to leave, had a sudden inspiration.
Cherie didn’t answer but looked toward Zhong Shenxiu and Kaine, because going to the “Tianxing Hotel” was actually Kaine’s idea this time, though Zhong Shenxiu was the one paying!
Kaine seemed to understand the meaning behind Cherie’s glance and quickly said, “It’s fine to go together, but everyone pays their own bill!”
Hearing Kaine’s captivating voice, Isaac was further unable to control himself, nodding his head furiously like pounding garlic.
Zhong Shenxiu, too lazy to dawdle with Nolan’s group, continued walking forward, essentially conveying an attitude of, Do as you please.
Cherie’s group followed closely behind, afraid of falling too far behind.
Nolan’s expression remained somewhat dazed; this was far from what he had anticipated. As he stood there in a stupor, Isaac asked excitedly, “Hey, are you coming or not? If not, I’m going ahead by myself!” He then actually moved to catch up with Cherie and the others.
Nolan and the others exchanged glances, ultimately having no choice but to follow, genuinely fearful that the unrestrained Isaac might stir up trouble!
The “Tianxing Hotel” didn't seem particularly close; it took the entire group nearly an hour to arrive. Along the way, Nolan’s group maintained a certain distance from Zhong Shenxiu’s party, so everything remained peaceful!
Since it wasn't yet the main dinner rush, the
The “Tianxing Hotel” was divided into five floors, shaped somewhat like a pyramid—the higher one went, the more luxurious it became, naturally.
“Welcome!” As the groups entered, several attractive hostesses greeted them with sweet voices.
However, these hostesses clearly couldn't compare to Kaine, not even to Charlotte or Angelina.
Cherie seemed very familiar with the place and led everyone directly to the fifth floor!
Upon reaching the fifth floor, they understood what true disparity meant. The surrounding decor could only be described as ‘magnificent and glittering.’ The highly polished floor even clearly reflected their figures.
This area wasn't vast; wealthy people often reserved the entire floor for gatherings and banquets, but Zhong Shenxiu had no such intention. He was merely going for a meal and didn't wish to waste money unnecessarily.
When Zhong Shenxiu’s party entered, five or six tables were already occupied, totaling perhaps twenty people, leaving the entire fifth floor feeling quite spacious.
Zhong Shenxiu’s group chose a bright spot to sit. The table before them was huge, with several empty seats remaining after they were seated.
At this point, Isaac, perhaps overestimating his standing, walked over. He first offered the group a somewhat gentlemanly smile, then his gaze settled on Kaine, and he asked in a gentle tone, “May I sit here?” He gestured with his finger toward an empty chair.
Nolan’s group, watching from a distance, were startled by Isaac’s presumptuous move; none of them had expected the boy to act so quickly, and by the time they wanted to stop him, it was too late.
Having no other option, they walked over. What surprised them even more was that just as they reached Isaac’s side, they heard Zhong Shenxiu utter a single phrase in a tone of absolute disgust:
“Go away!”
Instantly, Isaac was stunned, and even Nolan and the others were momentarily bewildered, all looking at Zhong Shenxiu with expressions asking: Did you just say that?
It was only then that Isaac truly began to assess Zhong Shenxiu. Previously, his attention had been solely focused on Kaine!
Is this the so-called child? Isaac thought with confusion; I don’t see anything particularly impressive about him.
“Um… this seat is free, and it would be livelier if everyone ate together. If you don’t mind, I’ll treat for this meal!” Isaac said, once again looking at Kaine with an air of, See how generous I am.
However, Kaine responded with words that left him utterly perplexed for a long moment: “I advise you to find another spot!” She then looked toward Robin beside her.
Isaac, still not giving up, tried to press his luck.
Just then, Robin rose from her seat. Although her expression was placid, her eyes were fixed on Isaac, her look conveying, You forced me to act!
The moment Robin stood up, a chill went down Cherie’s spine; her previous excitement instantly turned tense. Finally, summoning courage from some unknown source, she also stood up, stepping in front of Robin to face Isaac.
“It’s the same if you eat somewhere else; there are plenty of empty tables here,” Cherie said, gently pushing Isaac while discreetly signaling her brother, Nolan.
Nolan snapped back to attention, grabbing Isaac’s arm. With a slight pull, he yanked Isaac back, echoing his sister’s words: “Yeah, let’s go somewhere else.”
Saying that, he actually dragged Isaac toward an empty table nearby!
Only then did Cherie dare to steal a glance at Robin; seeing that Robin had sat back down, she let out a breath of relief. That moment had terrified her; she had genuinely feared a bloody confrontation!
Second Brother is truly something else; where did he find such an idiot for a friend? I warned him so clearly earlier, and he wouldn’t listen! Cherie grumbled inwardly as she sat back down on her chair.
Isaac, being dragged by Nolan, was loudly complaining, “Ouch, ouch, ouch! Nolan, ease up!”
Nolan shot him an annoyed look, and the force he exerted did not lessen; in fact, he increased it slightly, causing Isaac to almost jump up from the pain.
When they reached the other table, Nolan finally let go! He stared directly at Isaac, saying nothing!
“Hey, Nolan, don’t be angry. I think this kid Isaac can’t change his stripes. You should just knock him out, and when we’re done, we can bring him back some leftovers. That should be enough to keep him from starving,” Brandt said to ease the tense atmosphere with a joke.
Isaac only glared at Brandt but dared not retort, as he could sense that Nolan was genuinely annoyed.
It seemed like everything had settled down. However, none of them expected that at that very moment, a procession of luxurious carriages suddenly arrived before the entrance of the “Tianxing Hotel.”
Then, a rather arrogant voice drifted out from one of the carriages: “Matthew, same as last time. Book the entire fifth floor for me; I intend to dine.”
