After Hu Shenxiu finished conveying everything he needed to, he departed, leaving Stanley in charge for the time being. The "Necromancer Association" exploded into chaos.
When Stanley and Faraday, the President and Vice President, revealed their true appearances to the assembled necromancers, everyone was dumbfounded. If not for the fact that the two men’s voices remained unchanged, they would surely have been dismissed as imposters.
As the necromancers stared intently at their beloved leaders, Stanley and Faraday presented the potions Zhong Shenxiu had left them, each taking responsibility for introducing one.
Following a brief silence, a chorus of shrieks erupted from within the "Necromancer Association"!
They were too excited; they had never felt such fervor in their lives!
They harbored not a shred of doubt regarding the authenticity of the two potions. Two living examples stood right before them, and they knew their President would never deceive them!
“I want to buy, two bottles of each!” someone exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
Though the price of the medicine was steep, compared to the ability to walk freely under the sunlight and reclaim their true forms, the cost was negligible!
With one person taking the lead, the rest followed suit, creating an unprecedented frenzy. One could even clearly hear the strange roars emanating from the "Necromancer Association" out on the street!
“Don’t crowd, everyone will have a chance to buy!” Faraday worked to maintain order. He knew the two potions would sell well, but he had severely underestimated the explosive reaction they would generate!
This was just the internal staff; once word spread externally, the "Necromancer Association" would surely be overwhelmed! And the area would undoubtedly become utterly impenetrable!
The necromancers who secured the medicine followed the usage instructions provided by Faraday and Stanley, first consuming a "Sunscreen Pill." An indescribable coolness instantly flooded every pore of their bodies, bringing immense comfort.
Then, tentatively, they rolled up their sleeves and moved toward the sunlight, intending to verify if it truly worked.
Under normal circumstances, the moment a necromancer’s skin touched sunlight, an excruciating pain would strike, and if the exposed area was large or the duration extended, it could even endanger their very lives!
So, as a precaution, these necromancers who had taken the medicine first tested it on small, localized parts of their bodies.
“Ah, it really works! I truly don't have to fear the sunlight anymore!” The first necromancer to attempt the verification shrieked with excitement, his voice even carrying a hint of choked emotion.
Soon, the other necromancers verified the medicine’s efficacy one after another, joining the chorus of screams. Some even embraced each other!
This triggered another wave of pandemonium. Those who were still observing hesitated no longer and rushed to purchase. Those temporarily short of funds began borrowing and scraping together whatever they could to secure two bottles of each potion!
These individuals were not foolish; they all understood that such miraculous medicine would inevitably increase in price later, and there might even come a time when money alone couldn't buy it!
Thus, the quick-witted among them began stockpiling, even trading valuable assets as debt collateral just to acquire a couple more bottles, because this medicine was not only for their own use but also for resale in the future!
It could be stated with certainty that the current price of these two potions was absolutely a promotional rate, and prices would surely rise faster than real estate in the future! They, the necromancers, currently enjoyed the advantage of being first in line; whether such bargains would present themselves again was uncertain!
Faraday and Stanley exchanged glances, seeing clear delight in the other’s eyes. In such a short time, they had already sold nearly half of the potions Zhong Shenxiu had provided. This sense of accomplishment was not something one experienced often.
These two potions had only just been introduced to the market, and few knew about them. But they had every reason to believe that with word-of-mouth promotion among necromancers, practitioners from all regions would soon converge here!
When that day arrived, the scene—tsk—would simply not be adequately summarized by the word "shocking"!
And perhaps the "City of Midnight Dreams" would gain renown because of this! Of course, that was speculation for later; no one could predict what changes the future held!
After confirming that no one else was buying medicine, Faraday and Stanley, suppressing their excitement, returned to the office. Afterward, they merely gazed at each other with smiles, neither speaking first—everything seemed understood without words!
Although the income from the medicine sales was tempting, neither of them would pocket a single cent. Setting aside their deep reverence for Zhong Shenxiu, their very character forbade such an action!
In the eyes of outsiders, "necromancers" might be perceived as filthy, dark, and untrustworthy beings. In truth, they were all misled by rumors; the reality was far from it. If one were to truly assess them, necromancers were often more trustworthy than those who preached morality with every breath. Because necromancers lived within their own tightly-knit circle, far less complicated than the outside world, they generally trusted one another and rigidly upheld their promises!
Although the existence of wicked necromancers could not be ruled out, one had to ask: weren't there hypocrites in the other world?
The discussion had strayed a bit. Returning to the main topic, after a long silence, Faraday was the first to let out a laugh and walked over to Stanley.
It was then that Stanley spoke: “I truly never imagined I could make money selling things!”
“Me neither!” Faraday exclaimed with deep emotion, then continued, “I admire the Elder more and more; he’s actually able to concoct such miraculous medicines!”
“Oh, right, Faraday,” Stanley suddenly remembered something. “I recall you mentioning earlier that the Elder could create medicine to heal the ‘Darkness Backlash.’ Do you think the effect would be even better if we sold all three types of medicine together?”
Faraday’s body stiffened. He truly had never considered this issue and looked at Stanley with a strange expression. Faraday now had to admit that at times, Stanley’s insights could be profoundly illuminating!
“What? Did I say something wrong?” Stanley asked, feeling somewhat uncertain when he saw Faraday looking at him oddly.
“Stanley, that suggestion of yours is absolutely brilliant. Why didn’t you tell the Elder sooner?”
“Actually, I just thought of it a moment ago!” Stanley replied.
“I’m starting to look forward to the future now!” A sharp light glittered in Stanley’s eyes.
Faraday chuckled again and remarked, “I increasingly want to follow the Elder now.”
“If you really go, count me in too,” Stanley interjected eagerly, as if afraid Faraday might leave him behind.
“Can you bear to give up this position as President?” Faraday asked Stanley with a smile.
“What’s there to be reluctant about?” Stanley returned the smile.
Faraday didn’t want to drift off-topic. After a pause, he asked, “So, what should we do next?”
Zhong Shenxiu had entirely delegated the responsibility of sales to the two of them. Everything that followed was for them to discuss and proceed with.
Stanley pondered for a moment: “The Elder didn't set a deadline for us, just that the sooner the better, and he didn't give any other instructions.”
Faraday watched Stanley quietly, unsure what he intended to say.
“I have a small selfish thought right now. My idea is, could we first sell this medicine to people we know? After all, we shouldn't let the benefits slip away to outsiders. Plus, we can use them to spread the word about the medicine—killing two birds with one stone. What do you think?”
Faraday nodded; he had actually been thinking along the same lines!
Meanwhile, Brant and the other two returned to the room, each deep in their own thoughts. Inside, Norwin was still conversing with the other two.
“Hey, what were the three of you doing? Does a trip to the latrine really take that long?” the blond youth, Jason, teased.
To his surprise, none of the three responded; they simply slumped into their chairs.
“We just finished discussing with Norwin. We’ll stay here for two days and then return to the ‘Capital City’ together. Do the three of you have any objections?” Mars asked.
Although he was the least talkative among them, Mars was the backbone of the group. Not only was his strength superior to the others, but he was also the most insightful. When traveling, they relied on his planning. It was under his lead that they had come to find Norwin this time.
The other two nodded. Isaac, however, spoke up at this moment: “Norwin, Brant and Edgar just said they saw the two children you mentioned!”
“What?” Norwin jumped in alarm, nearly leaping from his chair, then quickly inquired, “N-nothing happened, did it?”
“No, we only saw them from a distance; we didn’t approach!” Brant replied.
“That’s good then!” Norwin mumbled to himself, his expression as if a weight had been lifted from his heart.
However, whether intentionally or not, Brant immediately added: “But Isaac is very curious about those two children and wants to test for himself whether they are truly as formidable as you claim. He’s also very eager to know where those two children live.”
After speaking, Brant looked at Isaac with the expression of someone watching a good show, as if to say: Am I being a good brother or what!
Isaac hadn't expected Brant to betray him so abruptly and was caught completely off guard, unsure how to smooth things over.
Norwin stared fixedly at Isaac. Just when everyone expected Norwin to reprimand Isaac, what Norwin said next nearly made the others burst out laughing.
“Isaac,” Norwin said with an utterly serious face, “Write your last will and testament first, okay?”
“Don’t listen to Brant’s nonsense. I only want to meet those two children; I have no other intentions,” Isaac said, having no mood to laugh.
“Fine, I’ll take you there!” Unexpectedly, Norwin said something else that shocked the others.
