Bloluobu, not far away, was leading Zhong Shenxiu and the others forward. He was smiling so broadly that an outsider might have thought they were a family out for a visit—adults and children alike.
As they walked, Chelsea began giving them a guided tour.
What was going on? Had his eyes deceived him?
Solomon and the other two dared not believe what they were seeing. It was too sudden, too unbelievable, too bizarre. How could such a coincidence occur? And how could Che He possibly be with them?
"Chelsea, is that you?" Laurent called out, stunned.
He was deeply curious how Chelsea ended up walking alongside Zhong Shenxiu and his group, and why they appeared so close. What exactly had transpired?
Hearing the call, Chelsea visibly flinched. She quickly stopped and turned to see the trio staring at them with eyes wide as saucers.
"Hi!" Chelsea waved to the three, her smile still fixed on her face.
Little did she know, the more she acted normally, the more bewildered the three became.
After a moment of hesitation, Solomon and the others cautiously approached, gravitating toward Chelsea but constantly glancing toward Zhong Shenxiu and Robin.
"Chelsea, what are you doing here?" Solomon asked, his voice laced with astonishment.
The unspoken subtext was: Why are you walking with them?
"It's a long story. I'll tell you later. Right now, I'm showing them around our academy," Chelsea said, unwilling to keep Zhong Shenxiu's group waiting. She immediately turned and led the others onward.
Solomon and the others did not follow. They exchanged bewildered glances, their expressions suggesting their minds had completely stalled.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Solomon was the first to recover and turned to Thomas. "Thomas, what in the world is going on?"
"How—How would I know!" Thomas retorted irritably.
"Isn't your family quite close to Chelsea's?" Solomon pressed.
Thomas shot Solomon a look that clearly communicated: Just because our homes are close does that mean I'm privy to everything?
"Who is that woman in the purple dress?" Laurent interjected from the side.
Thomas was nearly speechless. Why were both of them asking him? He hadn't done anything to invite this interrogation! Finally, he sighed. "Stop asking me, both of you. I genuinely have no idea what’s happening, and I don't know who that attractive woman is, or I would have told you already! In fact, I saw Chelsea just yesterday, and these people weren't around then."
Changing the subject abruptly, Thomas turned to Laurent. "By the way, Laurent, you mentioned that girl, Angelia, was specially recruited to our academy, right? Do you think she might be here to handle her enrollment procedures this time?"
Laurent stiffened. In his shock, he hadn't considered that possibility, but now, reminded by Thomas, it seemed plausible!
However, Solomon raised a pertinent objection. "Then why are those two children here?"
Indeed, Thomas also desperately wanted the answer to that question. For a moment, the three fell silent again, only to simultaneously jolt as they saw shared horror reflected in each other's eyes.
Could those two children also be planning to attend this academy?
The thought, once it surfaced, sent a shiver down all three of their spines.
It sounded incredible, yet it wasn't impossible. Zhong Shenxiu and Robin both had prior experience studying at academies. Attending school here wouldn't be entirely unprecedented. Even if they weren't specially recruited, given their monstrous strength, passing the entrance assessment would be as easy as breathing!
If this were true, it would be massive news!
Although the assumption wasn't confirmed, Solomon had already made a decision: he would hold off on filing his graduation paperwork for now. They needed to observe the situation first!
"Do you think we should inform Teacher Elena about this?" Thomas asked, looking toward Laurent alongside Solomon.
Chelsea had originally been leading Zhong Shenxiu’s group to find Elena, but fate had intervened; Elena appeared to be absent from the academy. It seemed the chance to introduce Kaine to Elena would have to wait.
Having no other immediate destination, Chelsea continued her tour, pointing out and describing various buildings as they walked.
This "Homebody Magitech Academy" truly lived up to its reputation as a major city institution; its grounds were vast. After wandering for a long time, the group had explored less than a tenth of the campus. Countless teaching buildings and student dormitories dotted the landscape, hinting at the sheer volume of students enrolled.
This was, after all, expected. Families from smaller towns or villages surrounding "Dream Evening City," provided they had the means, hoped for their children to study at the city's premier institution, and the Homebody Magitech Academy was arguably the best there was, naturally leading to a large student body.
As they strolled, Chelsea pointed to a circular structure nearby. "This is our academy's... the library. During the official term, it's open twenty-four hours a day, but currently, during the break, it's only open ten hours."
Chelsea kept walking as she spoke, failing to notice that Zhong Shenxiu had stopped, his gaze fixed on the library.
For Zhong Shenxiu, there were still many subjects he needed to delve into, especially "Spatial Magic," which fascinated him greatly, yet he lacked relevant texts.
Kaine watched Zhong Shenxiu, then suddenly called out to Chelsea, "Chelsea, wait up."
Only then did Chelsea realize Zhong Shenxiu had paused while she had been mindlessly marching ahead.
"Sister Kaine, what is it?" Chelsea walked back.
"Can we go look inside the library?" Kaine inquired. She had clearly discerned Zhong Shenxiu’s thoughts—no wonder Zhong Shenxiu treated her so well!
Chelsea nodded. "Yes, you can. During the break, if you don't have a library card, you can pay a fee to read inside, but you can’t check books out!"
This was a prudent policy for the Homebody Magitech Academy. It offered multiple benefits: first, generating revenue for the academy; second, enhancing its reputation. Even now, many non-students were inside reading.
Hearing this, Zhong Shenxiu’s expression brightened visibly. He hadn't expected this place to be more accommodating than the "Dover Magitech Academy," allowing access to non-students for a fee. Without another word, he strode toward the entrance.
Kaine offered a slight smile and followed without comment.
Zhong Shenxiu and his group had arrived late; not much time remained before the library closed. Nevertheless, Zhong Shenxiu paid the fee and stepped inside.
Seeing Zhong Shenxiu enter, the others had no choice but to follow, each paying their admission.
It had to be said, the library was deceptive; though it appeared modest from the outside, its interior space was maximized. The bookshelves were specially constructed to conform to the building’s curved architecture.
Furthermore, the library wasn't limited to a single floor; it extended downward. How many subterranean levels existed was unclear, as Zhong Shenxiu currently had no inclination to investigate. He was deeply engrossed in a book titled Introduction to Basic Spatial Magic, reading with rapt attention!
Kaine watched Zhong Shenxiu’s absorbed state and smiled again, choosing not to disturb him. She casually picked up a random book to read. Kaine was, technically, a dual practitioner of both magic and martial arts, possessing a smattering of skill in both disciplines, though neither was mastered. In a real fight, she couldn't even defeat Reis.
A short distance away, the Xia Luo group seemed uninterested in reading. They flipped through books haphazardly, never settling on one for more than a minute.
Time seemed to pass quickly when a bell chimed from outside, followed by a loud, booming voice: "Time's up! Everyone inside, please exit now."
Zhong Shenxiu complied cooperatively, returning his book before walking out. As he exited, Chelsea called out, "What time does this open in the morning?"
Chelsea paused momentarily before relaying the library’s opening hours to Zhong Shenxiu, adding a reminder that once the official term began, outsiders would no longer be permitted entry.
The sky was growing increasingly dark. Although many places remained unexplored, Zhong Shenxiu’s group decided it was time to return.
They had entered through a side door, but this time, they planned to exit through the main entrance, as the night market in "Dream Evening City" was quite famous, and they wanted to browse it on their way.
But the moment they stepped outside the main gate, Zhong Shenxiu stopped again, walking directly toward a bulletin board not far away.
This board was plastered with various announcements. A significant portion detailed the Homebody Magitech Academy, followed by the criteria and assessment methods for applying, and finally, a meticulously itemized fee schedule.
However, Zhong Shenxiu wasn't looking at any of that. His attention was fixed on a less prominent recruitment notice pinned beside the others. It stated that due to expanded student enrollment, the academy was facing a teacher shortage and urgently required capable, motivated instructors. Age and gender were irrelevant, and prior teaching experience was preferred.
The notice concluded with the application standards and interview schedule.
Xia Luo and Angelia exchanged puzzled glances, unsure what Zhong Shenxiu was scrutinizing. Che Wei looked even more confusedly toward Kaine, hoping for an explanation.
Kaine, however, offered a cryptic smile and asked Chelsea, "Chelsea, what are the salary and benefits like for teachers here?"
Huh? Chelsea clearly blinked, failing to grasp why Kaine would ask such a question. But Xia Luo and Angelia instantly stiffened, recognizing the implication behind Kaine’s words.
Could it be that Zhong Shenxiu intends to apply for a teaching position??
Oh, my! If that were true, then they could only offer a silent prayer for the students who would soon be under Zhong Shenxiu’s instruction. Amen.
