"Oh, so you mean you expect me to get hurt again next time," Mo Han smoothly picked up on Latin's words with a smile. "Wife Daili, you must help your husband seek justice! This brat is clearly cursing me. Wife Daili, you must help your husband seek justice! This brat is clearly cursing me." And Daili played along, glaring at Latin with an expression of fury.
Hearing Mo Han's reply, Latin couldn't help but feel even more awkward. Staring at Murong Feixue, who was glaring daggers at him, Latin felt a cold sweat bead on his forehead. Their Boss clearly knew that wasn't what he meant, yet when the same words came from Mo Han's mouth, they suddenly twisted their meaning! Now he was stuck taking the blame—he realized he couldn't clear his name even if he jumped into the river.
With that thought, Latin could only pull a long face and say, "Boss, I was wrong. Please forgive me with your great generosity. I truly dare not do it again. I promise to correct myself from now on."
Hearing Latin’s answer, everyone in the room burst into laughter.
Just then, Na Rouxue spoke up. "Right, Big Brother Mo Han, this is what my father instructed them to bring. You should keep it safe for now."
Mo Han heard this and saw what Rouxue was holding: it was the Holy Sword of Light he had entrusted to the Sacred Dragon Patriarch to help unseal. He quickly reached out and took it.
The moment his hand closed around the blade, Mo Han felt an overwhelmingly powerful light energy surging madly into his body through the Holy Sword of Light. The sheer force of that energy was astonishing. Even with Mo Han’s physique, he couldn't accept such an influx instantly. Caught completely off guard, Mo Han's face changed, and the Holy Sword of Light immediately dropped to the ground. Daili and the others nearby all looked perplexed.
Daili and Rouxue, assuming Mo Han’s injuries hadn't fully recovered, making him unable to hold the sword tightly, rushed to inquire with concern.
Mo Han looked confused and asked Rouxue, "Rouxue, when you were handing me this Holy Sword of Light, did you feel anything unusual?" Hearing Mo Han's question, Rouxue quickly shook her head. "No? I didn't feel anything strange at all. What's wrong? Did you discover something, Big Brother Mo Han?" Hearing Rouxue's answer, Mo Han grew even more bewildered.
Mo Han then said to Rouxue, "Rouxue, try again. Sense it carefully and see if there's anything strange about it." Rouxue nodded, picked up the Holy Sword of Light from the floor, concentrated her senses, but still shook her head. She then passed the sword to Elder Kalimo and the others beside her, signaling them to sense it carefully too. However, after grasping the Holy Sword of Light, they all shook their heads one after another, stating they felt nothing.
Seeing everyone's expressions, Mo Han couldn't help but start doubting himself. He spoke, "Could it really be my illusion? But that seems utterly impossible, doesn't it?" Saying this, Mo Han cautiously picked up the Holy Sword of Light again. Instantly, that intense surge of light energy rushed from the sword into Mo Han's body once more. This time, however, Mo Han was prepared. Although his hand trembled violently, he still gripped the Holy Sword of Light tightly. A strange gleam flashed across Mo Han's face.
Mo Han slowly placed the Holy Sword of Light onto the table, a wry smile spreading across his face. He spoke slowly, "This is strange. Why is it that the moment I touch the Holy Sword of Light, I feel this intense light energy flooding my body, yet none of you feel anything?" Hearing Mo Han's explanation, everyone in the room grew puzzled. Elder Kalimo thoughtfully offered, "I wonder if it’s related to the ability unlocked from the Holy Sword of Light?" Mo Han questioned, shaking his head firmly. "It shouldn't be. If it were truly related to the unsealing, then I wouldn't be the only one sensing this. Daili and the others have touched the Holy Sword of Light before, and they had no issues, just like me. Now, only I have this sensation. It clearly isn't due to the unsealing of the Holy Sword of Light."
At that moment, Latin spoke up hesitantly, "Boss, I feel like something is different about you, and earlier, didn't a streak of rainbow light flash across your face? That was so bizarre. Didn't you feel it?" Hearing Latin’s query, Mo Han became even stranger, shaking his head to indicate he knew nothing. Rouxue then spoke up. "Big Brother Mo Han, I forgot to tell you this. The Pope of Light had previously instructed that the seven-colored feathers have all merged into your body. But because the energy of the seven-colored feathers is too immense, you cannot fully absorb it yet. Some of that energy still remains within you. The Pope of Light said that as time passes, this energy will eventually be completely absorbed by you, so you needn't worry too much."
Hearing Rouxue’s explanation, Mo Han exclaimed in surprise, "There's such a thing? Damn it! If a grown man like me has rainbow light flashing on his face, wouldn't that be perverse?"
Everyone laughed at Mo Han’s response. Daili said with a chuckle, "No, I don't see any rainbow light on your face at all. You’re perverse enough without it, so those colors wouldn't make any difference to you. Stop worrying over nothing."
Mo Han, hearing this, couldn't help but laugh and cry, asking, "Wife Daili, are you comforting me or attacking me? How can you talk about your own husband like that?" Daili shot back without restraint, "I'm just saying what I see. If you don't believe me, ask Latin and Rouxue if I’m lying."
Hearing Daili’s comment, Latin shook his head frantically like a rattle drum. "I don't know anything! Boss, I swear I didn't say anything this time! You can't blame me for this, can you?"
Seeing Latin’s frightened expression, everyone laughed. Just then, Rouxue frowned in deep thought. She then said, "Latin’s comment gives me an idea. Big Brother Mo Han, do you remember when I told you about the seven-colored feathers? The feathers are said to have originated from the God of Light, which is why they possess such immense power. And the Holy Sword of Light is rumored to be a divine artifact forged personally by the God of Light. Both items are connected to the God of Light. I believe the connection must be related to that."
Hearing Rouxue's explanation, everyone felt it made some sense. After all, among them, only Mo Han had received treatment from the seven-colored feathers, and only Mo Han sensed the difference in the Holy Sword of Light. Therefore, Mo Han sensing the light energy of the Holy Sword of Light was likely connected to those seven-colored feathers, as both items related back to the God of Light. If that was the case, everything became logical.
Mo Han let out a wry laugh. "I truly don't know if this is a blessing or a curse. Right now, I struggle just to lift the Holy Sword of Light, let alone use it. In this situation, an unsealed Holy Sword of Light is no better than the unsealed one—it's practically useless."
Seeing Mo Han’s dejected look, Rouxue quickly comforted him. "Big Brother Mo Han, don't be so pessimistic! With your current strength and your comprehension, perhaps if you use it a few more times, you might get used to the Holy Sword of Light. When did you become so gloomy? Besides, when I leave later, I can ask my father. Perhaps he might have a way to resolve this problem."
Hearing Rouxue's reply, Mo Han asked in surprise, "Are you leaving already? So soon?" Rouxue smiled and said, "Because there are matters at the clan that need attending to. And since you, Big Brother Mo Han, are fine now, Elder Kalimo and I must rush back. But don't worry, once our clan matters are settled, I will definitely come to Dragon City to find you all. Just don't get tired of me by then, okay?"
Hearing Rouxue’s explanation, Mo Han and Daili quickly welcomed her to return. After bidding farewell to Daili and the others, Rouxue left with Elder Kalimo and a few Sacred Dragon clan guards.
As to why Rouxue and the others didn't escort Mo Han and his group back to Dragon City, Mo Han understood the reason after Daili explained it. Dragons are inherently proud creatures, and they have always taken pride in being dragons. What they detest most is being used as mounts. This only happens under very special circumstances, such as with the legendary Dragon Knights. However, due to the Dragon race’s nature, how could these proud dragons allow humans—whom they consider far beneath them—to ride them? Only if they shared a profoundly deep affection with that human would they willingly submit to being ridden. Therefore, in human records, Dragon Knights have only appeared twice in history, making them exceedingly rare. Furthermore, due to humans' short lifespans, these Dragon Knights were but a fleeting moment to the dragons’ long lives, vanishing quickly. The last recorded Dragon Knight, closest to the present day, was a thousand and five hundred years ago.
Another reason is a debt owed to the Dragon race. Like how Mo Han was allowed to be carried by the Sacred Dragon guards because he saved Rouxue—and Daili and the others were allowed the exception to be carried by the guards to find Mo Han—now that Mo Han was safe, Rouxue and the others naturally wouldn't carry Mo Han and his group back to Dragon City.
Fortunately, the distance to Dragon City wasn't far—only a few days' journey. So, Mo Han and his group weren't in a rush. After spending money to dispatch someone to report back to the Prince's Manor in Dragon City, Mo Han and the others began their slow journey back. Daili was also worried that Mo Han, newly recovered from severe injuries, wasn't suited for rapid travel, so they took their time, treating it as sightseeing. A journey that normally took four or five days stretched out to more than double that time before Mo Han and his party arrived.
As soon as they returned to the Prince's Manor in Dragon City, Murong Feixue and Rock Jack had already received the news. Upon entering the city, Mo Han ran straight into the Prince's Manor guards whom Murong Feixue had positioned at the city gate to await their return. The guards immediately recognized Mo Han and his party, hurriedly sending someone back to notify Murong Feixue and the others, while they subsequently escorted Mo Han back to the manor.
Seeing that Mo Han was unharmed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. However, due to the intermittent rainbow light flashing across Mo Han's face, he endured quite a bit of teasing from Rock and Jack. But, inevitably, these arguments always ended with cries of pain from Rock and the others.
Thanks to several days passing, Mo Han had adapted considerably to the light energy within the Holy Sword of Light and could now hold it steadily. What Mo Han currently lacked was the application and control of that energy, but he was confident he would eventually master it; it was only a matter of time.
After a few days of recuperation, Mo Han consulted with everyone and decided they should continue their original journey: venturing into the restricted area of the Magical Forest. During this time, Jack introduced Liu Changqing, Fei Yu's second elder brother, whom he had mentioned to Mo Han earlier. Liu Changqing’s family belonged to the class of low-level nobles that were ubiquitous in the capital. His father was a Viscount in the Empire; there were thousands, if not tens of thousands, of nobles holding that rank, so they certainly attracted little attention.
Liu Changqing's father doted on his eldest son, Liu Changyun, who was born to his official wife. However, Liu Changqing and his younger sister, Liu Feiyu, were born to a concubine, so their father paid them almost no mind. Consequently, Liu Changqing and his sister had always been bullied by members of their own family. Liu Changqing possessed ambition but had nowhere to exercise it, believing he would live out his life resigned to such helplessness. That was until he heard from his sister that the Prince Kang's Manor, currently the most influential power in the Empire, was looking to hire a steward. He immediately accepted Jack’s invitation.
