Having uttered those words, Rou Xue gazed at Mo Han with an expression of pleading. Hearing her, Mo Han offered a bitter smile and replied, "Alright, I'll try my best. But then again, even if I do go in, I might not be a match for that Blazes. How can you be so sure I can deal with him? He is a Dragon, after all, and I'm just a human. Perhaps he'll be the one to kill me."
At Rou Xue’s words, she quickly interjected with urgency, "That won't happen. Once you retrieve the Holy Sword of Light that Father King is helping you unseal, even Brother Blazes won't be able to harm you easily. Besides, Brother Blazes isn't someone who casually harms the innocent. If he were, the clan would have already sent people to deal with him, and he would have killed them already when they entered that Gulan Ruin. So, please don't worry."
Mo Han heard this and let out a knowing, meaningful laugh. "You seem quite fond of that Blazes, don't you? Speaking up for him like that."
Upon hearing Mo Han’s question, Rou Xue hurriedly shook her head and said, "Don't misunderstand me. I've always treated him like an older brother. If my brother is in trouble, I, as his younger sister, naturally cannot stand by and do nothing."
After saying this, Rou Xue suddenly realized why she was so anxious to explain herself to this irritating fellow. It was utterly baffling.
With that thought, Rou Xue quickly added, "Why do you care so much? You're so boring! Are you going to help me or not?" Mo Han found this amusing—she was the one who brought it up, and he hadn't said much at all. Nevertheless, Mo Han replied aloud, "Fine. I will do my utmost. That should be sufficient, right?"
Hearing Mo Han's answer, Rou Xue nodded in satisfaction and exclaimed happily, "Then it's settled! I will investigate everything thoroughly as quickly as possible. Thank you."
With that, she left, clearly pleased.
Mo Han had initially wanted to ask her what suspicious points she had uncovered and if there was anything he could assist with. But then he realized these were matters concerning the Dragon Clan itself. If Rou Xue didn't want to disclose them, it likely meant there were certain inconveniences he wasn't meant to know about. Thinking this, Mo Han abandoned the idea and headed toward the main hall.
Arriving there, he saw Daili and Latin chatting cheerfully inside. Noticing Mo Han, Latin immediately called out, "Boss, greetings! You got promoted and didn't even tell us? You've kept it hidden so well! If the Emperor hadn't shown up today, we’d still be in the dark!"
Mo Han laughed and chided him, "Go on, you're not a woman; why would I tell you? Actually, I intended to tell Daili and Xue'er first, but when I returned yesterday, they happened to be out, and then we went straight to the fiefdom. When I got back, Rou Xue’s issue got so messy that I forgot everything. I was planning to tell Daili and Xue'er this morning, but the Emperor was faster than me! Daili and Xue'er, you aren't angry with me, are you?" Mo Han directed his final words as an inquiry toward Daili and Murong Feixue.
Daili and Murong Feixue both smiled and shook their heads. Murong Feixue even spoke up, "Brother Mo Han, we are overjoyed that you could become a Prince of the Empire. How could we possibly be angry with you? Do you really think Sister Daili and I are that petty?" Mo Han immediately chuckled, "Of course not! I'm only being so anxious because you two are important to me. You should already know your standing in my heart! If I weren't concerned, why would I ask? See, I didn't ask Latin and the others."
Hearing Mo Han’s words, Daili and Murong Feixue both giggled, feeling sweet warmth inside, happy to know they held such an important place in Mo Han’s heart.
Latin and the others, however, showed expressions of displeasure, loudly accusing Mo Han of favoring women over friends. But once Mo Han announced his intention to subject them to a new round of his devilish training, everyone wisely kept quiet, expressing their support for Mo Han instead, which only elicited more laughter from the young women.
Just then, Jack spoke up urgently, "Boss, there’s something you still haven’t explained to us. Surely this isn't subject to the same male-female segregation as with Daili and Feixue, is it?" Mo Han looked puzzled. "Oh? What is it? Tell me. I don't recall anything at all."
"It’s Princess Rou Xue’s identity! She's actually a Dragon! Boss, you didn't even tell us. You're being too unfair!" Shi Yan, standing nearby, couldn't wait and blurted out first.
Jack then laughed slyly, "I know! Princess Rou Xue is so beautiful; I bet the Boss has some ideas for her, which is why he’s keeping it from us. Maybe the Boss plans to tell us when the time is right! Haha..." Jack’s laughter was instantly accompanied by a sharp cry of pain, and several small lumps immediately appeared on his head. The person administering the blows was none other than Mo Han, the very subject of Jack’s joke. With Mo Han's current strength, Jack had absolutely no way to evade the attack. Even Latin and the others couldn't dodge Mo Han's punches, let alone Jack, a rookie mage.
Mo Han smiled, rubbing his palm, and said cheerfully, "I swear, if I don't discipline you for a day, you feel restless, don't you? You really asked for it. Are you feeling better now? Let’s see if you dare speak nonsense again."
Poor Jack rubbed his swelling head and grumbled discontentedly, "Boss, even so, you didn't need to hit so hard! This is ruined; how am I supposed to face anyone now? I even have plans to chat with Feiyu tonight! How can I see her looking like this?"
Hearing Jack mention Feiyu, Mo Han became curious. "Oh, Feiyu? Who is that? You haven't been idle lately, young man. Sneaking around stealing glances at other beauties, are we?"
As soon as Mo Han finished speaking, Jack hastily protested, "Ptooey, ptooey! Boss, don't talk nonsense! I’m not as filthy as you! My feelings for Feiyu are very pure; don't spread rumors!"
Mo Han couldn't help but laugh harder at this. "Oh? So you're saying my feelings for Daili and Xue'er aren't pure, huh, boy? You don't just curse me; you even dare to curse Daili and the others! I think you really need a good lesson today."
Saying this, Mo Han deliberately struck a pose, rolling up his sleeves as if preparing to fight. Seeing this, Jack immediately cried out, "Boss, don't frame me! You know I didn't mean it like that! Daili, Feixue, quickly stop the Boss! If he attacks again, someone might die!"
Jack quickly pleaded with Daili and the others for help, knowing only they could stop Mo Han’s tyranny against him. Fortunately, Daili intervened with a timely smile. "Alright, Mo Han, stop bullying Jack. He's pitiful enough already. Look at the bump on his head hasn't even faded yet, hehe."
Mo Han was only posturing anyway and had no real intention of striking. Seeing Daili speak up, he was happy to grant her favor. He smiled and said, "I will definitely listen to what my wife, Daili, says! Heh heh. That’s because you’re my wife!"
Daili laughed and scolded him, "You're never serious! Why don't you go tell Xue'er that? You only bully me! I'm ignoring you." Mo Han immediately replied, "Heh heh, it’s the same for both of you! I’ll listen to whatever Xue'er says too, since you are all my wives!"
It was the first time Murong Feixue had heard Mo Han refer to her as his wife, especially in front of so many people. Her face immediately flushed crimson, and she sat quietly, too embarrassed to speak. Daili, however, was already immune to Mo Han’s remarks and scolded him with a smile, "Who wants to marry you? Stop dreaming! Xue'er and I have decided that we'll only consider marrying you after we see you perform satisfactorily. For now, you can keep dreaming!" Mo Han immediately adopted a serious expression and declared, "Don't worry, I will perform well and strive diligently to achieve my wife’s goals as soon as possible! Heh heh."
His words made everyone burst into laughter. Daili then said, smiling, "Alright, enough nonsense. Don't you still want to hear Jack talk about his Feiyu?"
Mo Han’s curiosity immediately piqued. He laughed and said, "Of course I want to know! Daili, please hurry up and tell me. Who is this divine being named Feiyu?" Daili smiled and replied, "Don't ask me; you should ask our protagonist, Master Jack, hehe."
Mo Han could only turn to Jack with a helpless expression and said with a smile, "My dear Jack, you know what you need to do, right? Do you need your boss to handle it personally?"
Under Mo Han's threat, the poor Jack had no choice but to explain, "It's nothing really. Feiyu is just a girl I met on the street. We just get along well; there's nothing more to it. Daili and Latin are exaggerating, Boss, please don't misunderstand."
He quickly offered his explanation. It turned out that Feiyu was the daughter of a declining minor noble family in the Empire—her father was a Viscount, and Viscounts were a dime a dozen among the Imperial nobility. She had coincidentally met Jack on the street not long ago, and they had since become friends. She had even visited the Duke's mansion a few days prior, but Mo Han hadn't returned yet, so he was unaware.
At this moment, Shi Yan urgently interjected, "Boss, you’ve heard about Feiyu. You still haven't answered our earlier question: Did you know Princess Rou Xue was a Dragon long ago?" Mo Han smiled and replied, "Something like that. And didn't that Rou Xue visit here last time? I thought you all knew by now, didn't you? Did you not recognize her just because she was dressed as a man this time? Even if you didn't know, I suspect Daili and Xue'er guessed it a long time ago, didn't they?" Mo Han finished, smiling as he looked toward Daili and Murong Feixue.
Daili and Murong Feixue smiled and nodded, saying, "I was suspicious to begin with. Even though Rou Xue tried hard to disguise herself, we still recognized her, and she admitted at the time that she was cross-dressing. Also, I found it strange the other day when I saw Ru Hua acting so scared of Rou Xue. It was too abnormal. I guessed Ru Hua must have been afraid of the aura around Rou Xue—the Dragon essence. Although Rou Xue hid it well and we didn't sense it, animals instinctively fear the strong. Ru Hua is no exception, so Sister Xue'er and I were basically certain back then that Rou Xue must be the Dragon Princess."
Hearing Daili's analysis, Latin and the others suddenly realized the truth, unable to help but admire Daili’s deduction.
While everyone was happily chatting, a servant from the mansion came to report that an old man in white robes requested an audience with Mo Han. Mo Han immediately thought of Blad, the Elder of the Sacred Dragon Clan. Had the Holy Sword of Light been unsealed already? Why else would Blad seek him out without warning? The Sacred Dragon Clan Chief had only told Mo Han that it would take a few days to unseal the sword, without specifying how long. Mo Han hadn't pressed for details, which was why he was confused now. Thinking this, Mo Han quickly instructed Daili and the others to wait there while he went out to greet the visitor personally.
Mo Han had initially preferred not to go out himself because his impression of Blad was thoroughly negative; the Elder always carried an air of arrogance. Mo Han despised such people most. However, considering the future standing of the Heavenly Dragon Empire, which would rely on the strength of the Sacred Dragon Clan, and since Blad was an Elder with considerable influence within the clan, any interference from him later on would cause immense trouble. Furthermore, he had promised the Emperor that he would successfully negotiate an alliance with the Sacred Dragon Clan and could not break his word.
Considering all this, Mo Han decided to greet the visitor personally.
As soon as he reached the doorway, Mo Han spotted Blad standing alone, his back to him, hands clasped behind his back, still maintaining that pompous stance. Mo Han felt a surge of annoyance internally, but he forced a smile and said, "Ah, Elder. Why have you come in person? If there was anything, you could have sent someone to notify me. Having the Elder run such an errand personally makes me feel quite terrible. Please, Elder, come inside."
Hearing Mo Han’s words, Blad slowly turned around. His sharp eyes swept over Mo Han without reservation, and he said coolly, "No need for such fuss. I came only upon the Clan Chief's orders to inform you that the item you require is prepared. You may come and collect it tomorrow. Oh, right—is Her Highness the Princess at the Duke's residence? Could the Duke please inform the Princess that the Clan Chief requires her immediate return? I hope Her Highness can return with me today."
Blad was clearly unaware that Mo Han had been promoted to Prince, and the plaque bestowed by the Emperor had not yet been hung at the entrance. Thus, he addressed Mo Han in the old manner. However, his tone this time seemed less haughty and less overbearing than before, which surprised Mo Han slightly, making him feel unaccustomed to the change.
Mo Han mused inwardly, Do I have a masochistic streak? Now that the other party is being relatively polite, I feel uneasy. This is truly strange. When did I become the type of person who seeks trouble just for the sake of it? Mo Han felt a wry sense of helplessness internally, but he quickly replied aloud, "Understood, thank you, Elder. Please convey my gratitude to the Clan Chief on my behalf. The Princess is indeed within the residence; please wait a moment, Elder. I will send someone to inform her immediately."
With that, Mo Han hurriedly instructed a nearby servant to inform Rou Xue of Blad's message. Since Blad was unwilling to enter, Mo Han would have to stand there and accompany him. However, this suited Mo Han fine; it saved him trouble. Mo Han truly hoped the old man would remain as far away as possible, and since he didn't want to come in, it perfectly aligned with Mo Han's wishes.
Not long after, the servant emerged alone, which made Mo Han look puzzled. Had he failed to find Rou Xue? Just as he was about to ask, he heard the servant say with a helpless expression, "Reporting to His Highness the Prince, Princess Rou Xue said that she will return with His Highness tomorrow. She still has matters to attend to and requests that Elder Blad return first. She will explain everything to the Clan Chief when she returns tomorrow."
