Watching all this unfold, Mo Han dared not let his guard down for an instant. He quickly summoned Xiao Mo and Xiao Han to his side, fixing his gaze intently upon the scene.
Sure enough, the ground beneath their feet began to churn with violent tremors, and the entire street slowly started to split apart under the immense power. What happened next astonished Mo Han even further: dense swarms of Skeleton Warriors began crawling out from the fissures in the earth. They gathered rapidly, easily numbering in the tens of thousands at a glance, forming an ocean of bone directly before Mo Han, Xiao Mo, and the others.
"You are actually a Saint Magister of the Necromancy lineage? That is utterly unbelievable."
Gazing at the sight, Mo Han spoke with a measure of surprise, "Weren't Necromancers of the Undead school thought to have been wiped out hundreds of years ago? Furthermore, no Necromancer has ever been known to achieve the realm of a Saint Magister. I never imagined someone would actually accomplish it."
This was because Necromancers had always been targets of persecution by every faction across the continent due to their inherently evil cultivation methods, methods which necessitated the lives of countless people for every single promotion. Moreover, Necromancers traditionally behaved in bizarre and malevolent ways, frequently using living beings to enhance their magical prowess.
Consequently, several centuries prior, led by the Church of Light, all powers on the continent—regardless of alignment—launched a concerted purge against the Necromancers. The outcome was devastating losses for the Church of Light and the major factions, but every single Necromancer on the continent was executed.
To think that a straggler remained, and one as formidable as this, someone who had already reached the rank of Saint Magister.
Upon hearing Mo Han’s question, the shadowy figure erupted in furious curses. "Did you truly believe that the Church of Light and those insignificant clowns could eradicate us all? A pipe dream! I have endured this arduous cultivation for so long precisely to properly repay the Church of Light for what they did to us back then.
This is merely the beginning. Far greater troubles await them yet. Hahahaha… Just open your eyes wide and watch."
Mo Han heard this.
He spoke coolly, "I do not know, nor do I care to know, the history between you and the Church of Light. However, to achieve your vengeance, you have slaughtered so many innocent civilians. While I am generally not one to meddle, I truly cannot stand by and watch this. I suspect the method you used against those commoners wasn't magic, was it? It was some kind of potion, correct?" Mo Han probed cautiously.
The shadow, surprised by the question, spoke, "I didn't expect a young lad like you to possess such knowledge. I won't hide it from you: the disaster that struck was indeed not brought about by magic, but by a potion I fortuitously discovered in some ancient ruins, complete with detailed instructions on its use. To possess such a fine tool and not use it? How could I forgive myself?
Thus, the city of Yima is my first testing ground, but absolutely not my last."
Mo Han’s voice turned gradually colder upon hearing this.
He let out a cold scoff and asked, "Do you truly believe you will have a second chance?" The shadow seemed to find this hilarious, bursting into loud laughter. "Boy, you talk a big game yourself. I suggest you worry about yourself first. This time next year will be the anniversary of your death. You should focus on how to stay alive."
As the shadow’s words faded, he flicked his wrist, and the countless Skeleton Warriors on the ground surged towards Mo Han, Xiao Mo, and the others with frenzied speed.
Seeing this, Mo Han quickly pulled the still-dazed Komos aside. "You had better find somewhere safe to hide and only emerge once this is over."
Noticing Komos was still frozen, Mo Han couldn't help but shout, "Hurry up and go! Are you waiting to die?" Hearing this furious outburst, the completely stunned Komos snapped back to reality. Without a word, he bolted rapidly behind Mo Han and his companions.
Meanwhile, Xiao Mo and Xiao Han, having just advanced their power, began to unleash their might. Xiao Mo opened his massive maw and launched a colossal Beast King's Roar Bomb toward the dense throng of skeletons. It smashed a pocket of open space right through the tightly packed ranks. However, the sheer number of Skeleton Warriors was overwhelming; within moments, the vacuum was swiftly filled by new skeletons, which continued to stream toward Mo Han and his group.
Xiao Han’s Black Light Cannon fired like a machine gun, relentlessly sweeping across the surging tide of skeletons. Every Dark Light Cannon blast shattered one Skeleton Warrior, instantly clearing a swath. Yet, the Skeleton Warriors seemed inexhaustible. As one bone soldier fell, countless more poured forth from the cracks in the ground behind them, aggressively rushing Mo Han and the others.
Observing this, Mo Han understood that no matter how many Skeleton Warriors he, Xiao Mo, or Xiao Han destroyed, it would be futile; these things were endless. Even killing until they dropped from exhaustion wouldn't thin the horde. Since the strategy was to capture the king first, Mo Han naturally fixed his target on the mysterious shadow still hovering mid-air.
Mo Han leaped up, his body swiftly soaring toward the shadow. But the shadowy figure showed no urgency, seemingly anticipating this move all along, only displaying a flicker of mockery in his eyes. Mo Han sensed danger from this reaction but couldn't afford caution; he sharpened his focus and pressed his attack against the shadow.
Just as he was about to reach the shadow, Mo Han distinctly felt several intensely powerful attacks flying up from beneath him. If he continued forward, he would certainly be struck by these incoming blows. Forced to change course, he leaped aside to dodge. Mo Han then watched as several gigantic axes sliced through the very spot he had just occupied.
And standing before the shadow, three colossal skeletons emerged, their entire bodies a dark crimson hue, encased in black armor. The exposed bone sections glowed dark red, and eerie crimson light flickered in their eye sockets, chilling anyone who gazed upon them.
"Boy, well? Haven't you seen a Skeleton Elite before? Did it not frighten you? Did you think I didn't know your plan? Laughable."
The mysterious shadow stood opposite Mo Han, chuckling triumphantly. "If you wish to kill me, you had better dispatch these three Skeleton Elites first."
As the shadow finished speaking, the three dark-red Skeleton Elites let out a low growl from their maws and charged toward Mo Han in unison.
Mo Han sneered inwardly at the sight, having no desire to evade. Moreover, Mo Han was eager to test the current extent of his Dou Qi cultivation.
With a great shout, Mo Han invoked 'Raging Dragon Slash'—the signature move among his repertoire. He swept his sword toward the charging Skeleton Elite head-on.
A stream of white Dou Qi erupted along the length of the Bright Holy Sword, forming a semi-circle that rushed swiftly towards the three Skeleton Elites, reaching them in an instant.
The three Skeleton Elites simultaneously raised their massive axes to block the Raging Dragon Slash unleashed by Mo Han. Following several sharp cracks, the three giant axes shattered into two pieces under the force of Mo Han's intense Dou Qi. The white Dou Qi was only momentarily halted before continuing its trajectory toward the three Skeleton Elites, striking them dead center.
Under the impact of Mo Han’s potent Dou Qi, the massive bodies of the three Skeleton Elites were hurled backward, flying a considerable distance.
Seeing this, Mo Han couldn't help but admire the result of his strike with satisfaction. But then, something astonishing occurred: the three Skeleton Elites, which he expected to be destroyed, all flew back. Only on the parts struck by Mo Han’s Dou Qi were a few white marks visible; elsewhere, there was no discernible damage.
Mo Han marveled internally, Damn it, are these even living beings? Oh, right, they aren't people to begin with. Should I say, are these even skeletons? Their skin is comparable to top-tier armor.
Even after being struck by his Dou Qi, they appeared virtually unharmed, as if only scratched lightly, perhaps not even breaking the surface. This was too monstrous! Just then, the shadow’s voice rang out again, "Boy, if the Skeleton Elites I painstakingly trained took such effort to build were so easily dismantled by you, why bother training them? You haven't even seen the more surprising things yet. Don't you dare die too soon, or you’ll miss out."
Hearing the shadow’s arrogant words made Mo Han grit his teeth in frustration, but he currently had no counter for him. He forced himself to ignore the taunts, focusing only on how to quickly dispatch the three Skeleton Elites before him, lest Xiao Mo and Xiao Han’s strength be depleted entirely.
Having been struck by Mo Han, the three Skeleton Elites seemed to have their rage ignited. They simultaneously roared and split into three separate directions, attacking Mo Han. It appeared that after suffering that initial setback, the three Skeleton Elites had learned their lesson; they seemed almost sentient, even employing tactics. Moreover, the giant axes they had just wielded, which Mo Han had shattered, had reappeared in their hands—it was unclear if they were new axes or the originals somehow restored.
Leaping up...
