With that thought, Mo Han no longer hesitated, raising his voice to command the Little Mo and Little Han before him, "Little Mo, Little Han, give me your absolute strength, hold nothing back."
Mo Han squeezed the small hand of Daili beside him. "Don't stray too far from me, understand? And don't go easy on them. Remember, they aren't human anymore, otherwise, we’ll be the ones dead."
Daili heard this, raised the knight's sword she had long prepared, and nodded, indicating she understood Mo Han's meaning.
By then, the mercenaries had rushed frantically toward Little Mo and the others. However, Little Mo and Little Han were worthy of being high-level magical beasts. With just one roar from Little Mo, he slapped one charging mercenary so hard he flew a great distance. Normally, even if this mercenary hadn't died, they would have been severely wounded. Yet, after falling to the ground, the mercenary acted as if nothing had happened, immediately leaping up and continuing to charge toward Mo Han and the others. Seeing this, Mo Han’s expression turned grim.
"It seems what they said is true; these mercenaries can’t be killed by ordinary attacks. Remember to aim for their heads next time, understand?" Mo Han said to Daili beside him. "For these people, unless their heads are severed, I see no other way."
Although Little Mo and Little Han fought bravely, blocking most of the mercenaries attacking Mo Han and the others, the sheer number of these mercenaries was overwhelming, and they had clearly lost all fear of death.
Quite a few mercenaries had already bypassed Little Mo and Little Han’s defensive line, swarming toward the spot where Mo Han and Daili stood.
Seeing this, Mo Han didn't hesitate any longer. He directly swung the Holy Sword of Light he held tightly in his hand, aiming for the heads of the two mercenaries lunging at him. It was as swift as lightning; he unleashed his full power from the first move. A flash of white light cut through the air, and the two mercenaries charging Mo Han didn't even have a chance to dodge.
Their heads were cleanly severed by Mo Han, but their bodies continued to surge forward for over ten meters, leaving a trail of blood before finally collapsing.
Daili, too, wielded the knight's sword Mo Han had given her, following suit by severing the head of a high-level swordsman attacking her. Although she had killed the opponent, Daili clearly wasn't accustomed to this method of killing.
Her face was a little pale, and she hesitated momentarily.
Just then, an infected intermediate sword master seized the opportunity, swinging the weapon in his hand toward Daili. By the time Daili snapped back to attention and realized she needed to dodge, it was too late.
Staring at the long sword aimed at her, despair welled up in Daili’s heart.
She inwardly cursed her own weakness, but at that moment, a streak of white light flashed from an oblique angle.
It struck the long sword attacking Daili squarely, slicing it in two. Its momentum undiminished, it continued toward the sword's owner, directly cleaving the mercenary into two pieces. The mercenary didn't even manage a final groan before falling dead.
It was Mo Han, who had seen Daili in danger from the side, who had blocked the strike, ignoring the weapons attacking him. However, in doing so, Mo Han’s arm was gashed by a high-level swordsman wielding a knight's sword.
Fortunately, the wound wasn't severe. Mo Han countered with a swift slash, relying on the power of the Holy Sword of Light. The high-level swordsman instinctively raised his own sword to block, but how could he stop the Holy Sword of Light? The knight's sword in his hand was instantly split in two by the Holy Sword of Light, and the man himself was subsequently bisected by the sword's residual power, following his companion’s fate. Afterward, Mo Han swiftly took care of several other mercenaries who had slipped through. The remaining dozen or so intruders were all eliminated by Mo Han.
After dispatching those mercenaries, Mo Han quickly cast a healing spell on himself to tend to his wound, then anxiously asked Daili, "Are you alright?" Seeing Mo Han injured for her sake, Daili looked filled with guilt. "I'm sorry, it's all my fault for getting you hurt. Are you okay?" Hearing this, Mo Han smiled, waving the arm he had just injured. "See? I'm fine, silly girl."
Daili saw that Mo Han seemed fine and finally relaxed, nodding her head.
"But you absolutely cannot do that again next time. Do you know how terrified I was? If anything had happened to you, even killing everyone here wouldn't have eased my guilt. Do you understand?" Mo Han said to Daili, his voice taut with concern.
Seeing how much Mo Han cared for her, Daili replied with a blissful expression, "Don't worry, I promise I won't make that mistake again."
Mo Han nodded upon hearing this and looked toward Little Han and Little Mo.
He observed that although the mercenaries' attack speed and cultivation level seemed slightly enhanced, they had completely lost their minds. They only knew how to instinctively attack and evade; there was no method or structure—just chaotic flailing.
However, their attacks caused little significant harm to Little Mo and Little Han. Moreover, the cultivation level of the remaining mercenaries was clearly not high. Mo Han and Little Han’s attacks, however, were entirely different. Little Mo and Little Han seemed to know that these mercenaries couldn't be broken by ordinary attacks, so every move was made with full force, specifically targeting the mercenaries' heads. Every swing of Little Mo’s giant paw resulted in a mercenary falling beneath it, their heads smashed to pulp. Meanwhile, the mercenaries’ attacks couldn't cause Mo any discernible harm.
Little Han was not to be outdone, though its method of attack was clearly easier than Little Mo’s. Little Han continuously spat out black orbs of light toward the attacking mercenaries. These mercenaries possessed no sense of evasion, only an endless urge to charge forward. But their attacks stopped dead when they hit the small barrier Little Han erected, unable to advance even half a step further. Conversely, Little Han’s black orbs accurately struck their heads. These infected mercenaries collapsed forever without so much as a whimper.
Before long, all the mercenaries besieging Mo Han and the others were wiped out by Little Mo and Little Han.
Just as Little Han struck down the last mercenary, that familiar shadowy figure appeared before Mo Han. "Hmm, you're a bit stronger than I anticipated, but this is just the beginning. Stronger foes await, so don't celebrate too soon. Boy, that weapon you hold is impressive—it looks like a divine artifact. I must have it, hah hah…" As the words ended, the shadowy figure slowly vanished.
Looking at the remnants, Mo Han’s teeth itched with frustration, yet he couldn't locate the shadow’s hiding spot, leaving him utterly helpless and boiling with suppressed anger. He muttered under his breath, "Go ahead and gloat. If I ever find you, I guarantee you won't even have the chance to cry."
Daili, overhearing him, couldn't help but smile. "Look at you. You just told me to stay calm, and now you’re the one getting agitated."
Mo Han chuckled, replying, "Not at all. I was just idly cursing that bastard. I hope my curse kills him so he saves me a lot of trouble. I really hope the God of Light hears my prayers, hehe."
Hearing Mo Han’s explanation, Daili giggled. "Only you could think of something like that. If that mysterious person could be killed so easily, we wouldn't have gotten this far. Stop dreaming."
Mo Han was about to reply when he seemed to notice something suddenly. Disregarding his retort to Daili, he leaped toward the street corner. His voice echoed from mid-air, "You stay here with Little Han and Little Mo and wait for me. I think someone is ahead; I’ll go check. Do not separate, I’ll be right back."
And with that, Mo Han’s figure had vanished around the corner.
Although Daili didn't understand what Mo Han had discovered, she would certainly obey his instructions. She called out to Little Mo, who was about to chase after Mo Han, and firmly pulled him back. Even though Little Mo was very unwilling, he was very obedient to Daili’s words. Besides Mo Han, Daili was arguably the kindest person to him. Thus, after a few whimpers, Little Mo quietly stayed by Daili’s side with Little Han. Only a look of confusion in their eyes was directed toward Daili, as they didn't understand why she was stopping him.
Seeing their look, Daili smiled and patted Little Mo’s head. "Hehe, you worry about Mo Han too. I am worried, but we both need to listen to Mo Han, don't we? With his skills, he should be fine. If we separate again, it will only make him worry more, you see?" Little Mo seemed to understand Daili’s meaning. He affectionately rubbed against Daili, letting out low whines, as if playfully acting spoiled, which made Daili giggle.
After rounding the corner, Mo Han saw the figure ahead flicker momentarily before vanishing completely. Mo Han quickly followed the direction the figure had disappeared, and in just a few steps, he arrived before a tall building. In the center of the building hung an eagle-shaped crest. It was immediately recognizable as the symbol of some noble family, much like the Murong family, whose emblem was a tiger roaring toward the sky, or the Gongsun family, whose emblem was a winged Pegasus. Mo Han surmised this must be the residence of some noble in Yima City.
He leaped toward the entrance.
