It wasn't long before Mo Han arrived at a wide, open plain. It was then that Mo Han suddenly spotted his target, the Emerald Blood Centipede, just ahead. The Emerald Blood Centipede was currently enveloped by several tentacles, struggling fiercely within their grasp, but to no avail. Mo Han followed the tentacles upward and, upon clearly seeing the owner, was utterly stunned. It was identical to the squid he knew from Earth, except it was orders of magnitude larger than any he had ever encountered. Even the largest squid he had seen on television was less than half its size.

This colossal squid extended tentacles that were at least a hundred meters long, while its main body spanned twenty meters. On its body were two massive, oversized eyes, entirely black without any visible sclera. It possessed ten tentacles in total: eight shorter ones and two exceptionally long ones. Even the eight shorter tentacles measured nearly fifty meters each, while the two long ones stretched over a hundred meters, an image that sent a chill down the spine. As Mo Han cautiously approached, he noticed that four of the eight shorter tentacles were tightly wrapped around the Emerald Blood Centipede. The poor creature, pinned by the tentacles, couldn't muster any resistance, held fast.

Moreover, the tentacles of this giant squid were covered in suckers the size of buckets, surrounded by a translucent border. Mo Han realized these suckers were slowly draining the Emerald Blood Centipede’s blood. Bright red ** flowed continuously through the large suckers into the giant squid's body. The Emerald Blood Centipede, unwilling to simply die, mustered its remaining strength and unleashed a cloud of poisonous gas at the encircling tentacles. Yet, this gas, which had previously caused trouble for Mo Han and his companions, seemed to inflict no harm upon hitting the squid’s limbs. The affected tentacles merely twitched slightly before returning to normal. The giant squid showed no outward reaction, only accelerating its feeding. As the Emerald Blood Centipede’s blood drained away, its body began to deflate and noticeably shrink in volume.

Mo Han remained hidden, observing. He inwardly hoped that once the giant squid finished draining the blood, it would leave. Mo Han speculated that the creature likely wasn't interested in the carcass itself, only the vital fluids. If that were true, it would leave the body behind, giving him an opportunity to extract the Emerald Blood Centipede’s magic core, thus saving himself considerable effort.

Indeed, once the giant squid had finished drawing the blood, it simply dropped the Emerald Blood Centipede's corpse onto the ground and slowly turned to depart.

However, it only moved about a hundred meters away from the body before settling down to rest.

Seeing this, Mo Han grew anxious. Who knew how long this behemoth would sleep? Would he have to wait a month if it decided to sleep for a month? After some time, Mo Han confirmed that the Emerald Blood Centipede truly appeared dead. Looking at the corpse not far ahead, Mo Han couldn't resist the urge. He decided to take a risk, planning to quickly retrieve the magic core and leave, believing the danger to be minimal. With this thought, Mo Han quickly retrieved a small knife from his spatial ring and readied the Holy Sword of Light in his hand. After instructing Xiao Mo to wait where they were, Mo Han began to slowly close the distance to the nearby corpse of the Emerald Blood Centipede.

Arriving beside the creature, Mo Han noted that the giant squid showed no signs of awareness, filling him with sudden joy. He quickly pulled out the small knife and began to cut into the top of the Emerald Blood Centipede's head, intending to extract the magic core.

At that moment, the giant squid, which had kept its eyes closed, suddenly snapped them open, fixing its gaze on Mo Han's back with a flicker of savage light. Just as Mo Han successfully secured the magic core and was about to retreat, he heard a high-pitched whistle—the sound of an object slicing through the air at high speed—hurtling toward him. Looking up, he saw the giant squid, which had supposedly been asleep, launching its two exceptionally long tentacles directly at him, one leading the other. They closed the distance instantly, and Mo Han could almost see the suckers on the tentacles contracting rapidly.

Mo Han was immensely startled. He swiftly swung the Holy Sword of Light he held toward one of the tentacles already upon him. The sword flared with a dazzling white light, striking one tentacle accurately. Upon contact with the Holy Sword of Light, the tentacle let out a dull thud, and a section of it was cleanly severed, spewing blood that splattered all over Mo Han. But Mo Han had no time to spare; he immediately brought the Holy Sword of Light down against the second approaching tentacle.

Upon having its tentacle severed, the squid shrieked mournfully. Seeing Mo Han aim for its other limb, it urgently commanded the remaining tentacle to dodge, swiftly pulling both limbs back in a rapid retreat. Mo Han did not pursue. Instead, he stood alert, sword in hand, watching the giant squid. He glanced at the blood coating his body and the severed, meter-long tentacle still writhing on the ground nearby. Mo Han couldn't help but offer a wry smile: "**, these magic beasts are getting smarter. This damned squid clearly discovered me ages ago and deliberately left the Emerald Blood Centipede's corpse within striking range, timing a sneak attack for when I was preoccupied. If I hadn't been prepared and drawn the Holy Sword of Light, I might have suffered a massive defeat at this squid's hands right here."
