It was then that Murong Feixue spoke up, asking, "Brother Mo Han, is my father still in the Imperial Palace now?" Mo Han nodded and replied, "That's right. With the magnitude of what has happened, I estimate General Murong will definitely have to remain in the Palace to assist His Majesty in handling these affairs. He probably won't be back tonight, so don't worry too much. While you're at it, pass this news along to your mother so she doesn't worry."
Upon hearing this, Murong Feixue quickly nodded, "I'd better go tell my mother the news first to ease her worries. You all carry on chatting."
After saying this, she hurried away.
Once Murong Feixue departed, Mo Han laid out his plans to Daili and the others. Hearing Mo Han's proposal, everyone nodded in agreement. Latin immediately spoke up, "Boss, honestly, I've been cooped up here for so long, I've been itching to get out and stretch my legs. This is perfect timing, haha. I say we leave tomorrow morning."
Mo Han heard this and smiled, "Not that fast! We need at least a day or two for preparations. At the very least, we should wait until General Murong returns, bid him farewell, and then we can leave. Are you that eager? Anyone seeing you would think you’ve been stuck here for years."
Listening to Mo Han’s words, everyone smiled. Latin scratched his head awkwardly, chuckling, "Hehe, I was just saying. Of course, we'll follow whatever arrangements the Boss makes."
The very next morning, Mo Han instructed Daili and the others to go out and procure some necessary supplies. As for himself, he intended to go to the Imperial Palace to bid farewell to the Emperor. After all, the Emperor had treated Mo Han quite well, and Mo Han was someone who repaid kindness, so he felt he ought to personally inform the Emperor of his departure.
Just as he was about to leave the door, he saw Murong Feixue walk in, her expression laced with apprehension. She started, "Brother Mo Han, I heard Sister Daili and the others saying that you are planning to leave?" Hearing this, Mo Han quickly smiled and nodded, "Yes, we have been here quite a while now. The matters that needed resolving have been finished, and I should venture out for further tempering. Otherwise, how can I improve? Wouldn't you agree, girl?"
Murong Feixue listened to Mo Han's answer, hesitated for a long moment, and then nodded, saying, "Big Brother is right. But... can you take Xue'er with you?" Mo Han paused, just about to speak, when Murong Feixue rushed on, "Big Brother, don't refuse me right away; please hear me out first. Due to my health issues in the past, I have never ventured out on my own for this long in my life. Except for accompanying Father on a few trips to Mingyuan City, I feel like I’ve been a caged bird, having everything I do dictated by my parents’ protection.
I truly long to see the outside world and learn things I cannot learn at home. Before, I had no opportunity, so Father would never agree. But now, if I were with you, I believe Father and Mother would certainly consent. Brother Mo Han, please say yes, I beg you."
After saying this, Murong Feixue gazed anxiously at Mo Han, hoping desperately that he would agree to her request.
Seeing this, Mo Han smiled and spoke, "Girl, when did I ever say I wouldn't take you? In fact, I already discussed this with Sister Daili last night. Since you are already a member of our Feiyun Mercenary Group, of course, we are willing to take you along on our adventures."
Hearing Mo Han’s reply, Murong Feixue exclaimed with excitement, "Does that mean Brother Mo Han has accepted my request?" Mo Han smiled and nodded, "Of course. What I was about to say was that I planned to explain this matter to your father when he returns. Who knew you would spill out so much so quickly? I hadn't even managed to tell you yet."
At Mo Han’s words, Murong Feixue’s cheeks flushed slightly as she replied, "How was I supposed to know that’s what Big Brother was going to say? I thought you might refuse me, so I got anxious."
Mo Han smiled knowingly, "Now you can rest assured. Alright, you should go back and prepare as well. I need to go into the Palace first to bid farewell to the Emperor. I will speak with your father when he returns."
Hearing Mo Han’s answer, Murong Feixue quickly nodded in assent and left, completely satisfied. Mo Han then took the Murong family carriage directly toward the Imperial Palace.
Upon arriving at the Palace gates, Mo Han intended, as usual, to state his purpose to the guards on duty. However, the leading captain, upon seeing Mo Han, quickly bowed respectfully and replied, "It is Duke Mo Han. His Majesty issued an oral decree yesterday; from now on, Your Grace need not announce your arrival and may enter directly."
Mo Han paused internally for a moment, then smiled and said, "Since that is the case, I thank you kindly."
With that, he proceeded directly toward the Council Hall.
Arriving at the entrance to the Council Hall, Mo Han found Liu Chengde on guard duty. Seeing Mo Han, Liu Chengde immediately stepped forward and said respectfully, "Your Grace, why have you come? Is there something you require?" Mo Han smiled and replied, "Actually, nothing too important. I just came to bid farewell to His Majesty."
Hearing Mo Han's answer, Liu Chengde was momentarily stunned and spoke, "Sir, you are leaving? I still haven't properly thanked you for yesterday's affair. If you hadn't seen through the Nether Race's conspiracy and saved His Majesty, I would have become a criminal of the Sky Dragon Empire."
Mo Han quickly smiled, "Hehe, Commander Liu, there's no need to thank me. In truth, it was just a guess on my part at the time; I couldn't be certain either. Furthermore, since you were carrying out His Majesty's orders to guard the Church of Light, the responsibility does not fall on you. Please do not blame yourself too much."
Liu Chengde’s voice filled with gratitude, "Thank you so much, Sir. Please wait a moment; I will inform His Majesty immediately. The Emperor is currently discussing matters with several officials."
Mo Han quickly interjected, "If that is the case, I will wait here. I can enter once His Majesty and the others have finished their discussion."
Liu Chengde smiled and replied, "His Majesty gave explicit instructions that if you seek an audience, Sir, you are to be reported to immediately, regardless of the matter. So please rest assured, Sir."
After saying this, he turned and went in to report.
Seeing this, Mo Han had no choice but to wait patiently at the doorway.
