The woman seated next to Fabredis suddenly spoke, her voice as faint and ethereal as if it drifted out of smoke.
"Hello," Qian Jin nodded lightly, his gaze of inquiry immediately directed toward Fabredis. He had been here for a while and still didn't know how to address the person before him, making a proper return greeting impossible when only addressed by his name.
"Oh!" Fabredis slapped his forehead hard. "This is my daughter, Gu Yue Jiaying."
Gu Yue Jiaying? A deeper confusion settled in Qian Jin's eyes; there was absolutely no resemblance between that name and Fabredis.
"My daughter takes her mother's surname," Fabredis explained casually. Judging by his expression, this was clearly not the first time he had offered such an explanation; he was well-versed in dealing with others' curiosity.
Gu Yue Jiaying rose gracefully. Her movement was just as before—light, languid, almost as if her feet barely touched the ground—as she approached Qian Jin.
The pure white long sleeves of her white, one-piece dress suddenly flipped open! Two dazzling glints of cold light flashed into existence. Instinctively, Qian Jin slapped both palms onto the dining table and recoiled sharply, staring dumbfounded at the pair of small scimitars in Gu Yue Jiaying's hands.
Under the sunlight, the blades shimmered with cold brilliance, clearly indicating superb craftsmanship. However, the edges of both blades...
That's right! These two scimitars, just like the Tian Lu Sword, were in a state of suspended animation.
"Can they be repaired?"
Qian Jin shrugged, taking the twin blades to examine them closely. They were exquisitely made and perfectly suited for concealment; if used for a sneak attack, they would undoubtedly be first-rate tools. Having just mastered the Edge-Washing Technique, Qian Jin wanted to understand whether the Tian Lu Sword had become stronger because of an inherent flaw or due to his own actions. These twin blades were the perfect subjects for a test.
"Yes," Qian Jin nodded. "The weapons are smaller, which actually makes them harder to repair. It might take slightly longer than the Tian Lu to bring these two scimitars back to life."
"Twin Moons," Gu Yue Jiaying watched Qian Jin quietly.
Twin Moons? Qian Jin paused, realizing she was informing him that these scimitars had names; they were called Twin Moons, not just some unnamed pair of blades.
"Oh, Twin Moons it is, then," Qian Jin shrugged indifferently and walked into the courtyard.
Fabredis moved to Gu Yue Jiaying’s side, looking toward Qian Jin in the courtyard outside the hall, and asked in a low voice, "Jiaying, if he really can resurrect the Twin Moons..."
"Then I will honor the vow I made long ago," Gu Yue Jiaying replied, her gaze as tranquil as ever as she looked faintly toward Qian Jin in the yard. "I will marry him."
"He is younger than you."
"I know."
"Are you certain?"
"I am certain."
"Understood," Fabredis murmured beside his daughter. "Daughter, I thought we had come to Oakland to live out our days alongside our respective Battle Weapons until the end. I never imagined..."
Using the Edge-Washing Technique again, Qian Jin suddenly realized he was smoother and more proficient than when he had used it that morning. The feeling was akin to achieving a 'technical upgrade' in the Endless World.
The Twin Moons did not require the extended time Qian Jin had predicted compared to the Tian Lu. In fact, the manufacturing precision of this weapon set was slightly inferior to the Tian Lu, and even though the volume was smaller, the resulting difficulty was effectively canceled out.
The moment cold light once again bloomed from the Flowing Cloud Stone, the dead Twin Moons were resurrected! Two Battle Weapons, revived on the same day! Fabredis began to wonder if his daily remorse had somehow caused him to slip into a dream he wasn't aware of.
Re-sharpening a weapon is far more difficult than the initial forging and sharpening of a new one. Fabredis knew perfectly well that even if a master smith were to re-hone a severely damaged weapon, it typically required several days, sometimes over ten, to complete the new edge.
To bring a completely deceased weapon back to life? The difficulty far surpassed re-honing a heavily damaged one! Fabredis would not have been surprised even if it had taken a full month of repairs. Yet, this Qian Jin had managed to revive and re-hone both sets of weapons in less than a day! Fabredis truly began to suspect he was dreaming, especially when he heard his daughter, in a tone of happiness unheard for years, exclaim, "The Twin Moons are stronger than before..."
Stronger! Not just the Tian Lu was stronger! Even the Twin Moons were more potent after resurrection! A dream, yes! Fabredis became even more convinced that this was an incredibly sweet dream. He instinctively pinched his thigh, but the sharp pain informed him that this was reality, not a hallucination.
Listening to Gu Yue Jiaying, Qian Jin gazed blankly at his own hands. It seemed the capability truly lay with the Edge-Washing Technique; the textbooks had never mentioned that the Flowing Cloud Stone possessed a function to strengthen weapons during the polishing process.
Keep it a secret! Qian Jin woke up suddenly. If this ability of his were known to the outside world, he might very well be captured and imprisoned, forced to wash edges day and night, unable to do anything else.
Fabredis examined Qian Jin with rapturous excitement, secretly resolving that, no matter what, he had to invite Qian Jin into the Warrior Guild! Regardless of whether he was a true Blacksmith or not! Merely possessing this skill to re-hone Battle Weapons meant the Warrior Guild would no longer need to consider the opinion of the Blacksmiths Guild before undertaking so many critical tasks.
Warriors, who guarded the entirety of the human world, having to defer to the Blacksmiths Guild—this was a matter that caused immense bitterness within every branch of the Warrior Guild. If they could bring Qian Jin onboard, Fabredis was certain this situation would drastically improve.
Of course, the most significant factor: Fabredis found Qian Jin extremely likable. Ever since first meeting him at the Franlin Blacksmith shop, Fabredis had taken a liking to the young man. When Qian Jin demonstrated the magnanimity and understanding befitting a great warrior regarding Xiao Chang Leiming’s Level Five Refined Iron, Fabredis had solidified his resolve to bring Qian Jin into the Warrior Guild and cultivate him into a great warrior if possible. Today’s display of power only intensified Fabredis’s conviction.
The Warrior Guild was a free association that never forced anyone to join or leave. This was the founding principle of the Guild, a rule no one was permitted to alter. If Qian Jin refused to join, Fabredis could not resort to force, which worried him slightly. Although the Warrior Guild sounded imposing, it was constrained by many other guilds and utterly lacked the apex, supreme-tier combat strength possessed by the powerful Bloodline Warrior families, making it insufficiently attractive.
The only advantage the Warrior Guild held was the profound unity among its members; many found a sense of kinship there, where everyone would offer their full support to anyone in need. It was precisely this bond that had allowed the Warrior Guild to survive to this day.
:To everyone helping out, this time, besides asking for clicks and recommendation votes, there is a very important matter I need help with!!!!!!! The synopsis problem—I’ve been changing it constantly these past few days and can’t decide which one is good. I’ve opened a chapter in the 'Work Related' section with four synopses, labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4. Could everyone please take a look and tell me which one is better? Then vote in the poll I created. If anyone has a better synopsis suggestion, feel free to post it in the review section. Gao Lou thanks you all profusely. F
