Thes were momentarily stunned by Mo Han's words, unable to grasp why someone who wasn't a member of the Church of Light would possess high-tier Light magic healing spells. However, seeing the respectful expressions on Mo La and Murong Tian's faces, they dared not take it lightly and quickly helped Mo La to a seat.
Seeing this, Mo Han hesitated no longer, opening his mouth to chant. A dazzling white light rose from his hand. Some of thes cried out in shock, "It's Holy Light, how is this possible? Is he a Bishop?" Mo Han waved his hand, and the white light sank directly into Mo La's body. The look of pain vanished from Mo La's face, replaced by an expression of comfort. At this point, even a fool could understand that what Mo Han had just cast was indeed the high-tier Light healing spell, Holy Light. Realizing this, thes and Knights looked at Mo Han with a newfound layer of respect.
In just a few moments, Mo La’s complexion had returned to its normal ruddy color. He stood up, smiling, and declared, "Thank you for your timely aid, esteemed Envoy. I never realized your mastery of Light magic had reached such a profound realm. It is no wonder the Saintess chose you as the envoy for the Church this time."
After speaking, Mo La addressed the surrounding members of the Church of Light. "This is Mo Han, the Envoy sent from the Holy City whom I mentioned previously. Why aren't you paying your respects to the Envoy?"
Hearing this, thes and Knights of the Church of Light immediately bowed respectfully to Mo Han in greeting.
Mo Han quickly waved his hand, saying, "Please, everyone rise. Priest Mo La, you are too kind. It was merely a small effort. Let us first discuss last night's events so we can devise a countermeasure."
Mo La ceased his politeness and recounted everything from the previous night. The general situation was much as Murong Tian had described: the man in black appeared suddenly, wantonly slew over a dozen Church members, and then departed. However, as he left, he arrogantly declared that he would return that very night, advising Mo La and the others to prepare. Beyond that, there were no leads whatsoever.
Mo Han inquired, "Priest Mo La, do you have any idea who it might be, or has the Church recently made enemies with anyone powerful?" Mo La shook his head, saying, "Not a single clue, absolutely nothing. Besides, on this continent, I can hardly imagine anyone other than the Church of Darkness daring to oppose the Church of Light. However, based on my intuition, this person is likely not from the Church of Darkness, which is why I am still utterly baffled."
Afterward, Mo La added, "Shall we continue this discussion inside? Old Murong, Envoy, please follow me."
With that, he turned and led Mo Han and Murong Tian toward the inner rooms. Mo Han understood that Mo La must have discovered something, and with so many people around, discussing it openly was inconvenient. Thinking this, Mo Han didn't hesitate and followed directly behind Mo La into the inner chamber.
Upon arriving at the room in the inner courtyard, Mo La instructed the accompanying Church personnel to guard the door before leading Mo Han and Murong Tian inside.
Indeed, as soon as they were seated inside, Mo La spoke with a grave expression, "I have a bold speculation, but I'm not sure of its accuracy, so I wanted to discuss it with you both."
Murong Tian nodded. "Oh? What is your guess? Do tell us."
Mo Han smiled faintly. "Priest Mo La, you are likely thinking that this incident must be related to the Nether Race figures who appeared a few days ago, aren't you?" Mo La, hearing Mo Han's response, exclaimed in astonishment, "Brother Mo Han, how did you know? This was just a thought in my mind; I haven't mentioned it to anyone!" Murong Tian also looked at Mo Han curiously, unable to fathom how he knew Mo La's inner thoughts.
Seeing their reactions, Mo Han smiled and explained, "Actually, I didn't know initially. It was only when I was treating Priest Mo La just now that I discovered a trace of dark energy lingering on his body. This specific dark aura is unique to the Nether Race, and I had an encounter with one of them a few days ago and sensed a similar energy on that individual. Therefore, I deduced that the dark energy on Priest Mo La must have been left on the wound when that black-clad attacker injured him. That is why I speculated this matter is connected to the Nether Race."
Hearing Mo Han's deduction, Mo La spoke with admiration, "I am truly impressed, young brother Mo Han, that you could deduce so much from such a minor detail as treating my injuries. I have the utmost respect. I only sensed a faint dark energy in the dou qi used by that black-clad man last night. Although he tried his best to conceal it, I could still clearly feel that unsettling aura. And I was wounded by his dou qi yesterday—it was precisely that energy that made me feel so unwell."
Murong Tian interjected, "If it is the Nether Race, it is highly likely they are here to rescue the Nether Race member we eliminated some time ago. But why would they target the Church of Light? That seems rather strange."
Mo Han smiled in response. "I don't find it strange at all. Consider this: every time the Nether Race launches a major invasion, what they fear most is Light magic. The Light magic of the Church of Light is essentially a fatal blow to the Nether Race. Therefore, the Nether Race and the Church of Light are natural mortal enemies. This action is clearly intended to undermine the Church of Light's strength and sow panic, and in that regard, their objective has been achieved. However, why would he leave a message saying he would return tonight? He is practically inviting us to prepare. That part I cannot comprehend." Hearing Mo Han's reply, Murong Tian offered, "I see only two possibilities. One is that the Nether Race member possesses absolute confidence in his own strength and believes he can handle the resulting situation. The other possibility is that he intends to draw everyone's attention here to implement some other conspiracy. Still, I cannot fathom what act he might be planning, or what the ultimate goal of such a maneuver would be."
Hearing Murong Tian's speculation, Mo Han and Mo La fell into deep thought.
The room fell silent for a time.
However, as evening approached, they still could not uncover the Nether Race's scheme, so they reluctantly gave up the effort for the moment. During this time, more personnel from the Church of Light continued to arrive as reinforcements from neighboring cities, including the Elder Guang Huo, whom Mo Han was familiar with.
