Following Mo Han's lead, the group left the Murong Estate. As soon as they stepped out, they saw Murong Tian rushing back.

Seeing Mo Han and the others, Murong Tian quickly said, "Brother Mo Han, you've arrived at the perfect time. Something major has happened."

Mo Han felt a strange sense of surprise at Murong Tian's expression; it was rare to see him so flustered. Thinking quickly, Mo Han immediately asked, "What happened, General Murong?"

Murong Tian spoke in haste, "Last night, the Grand Cathedral of Light in Tianlong City was attacked by an unknown individual. The casualties were heavy, even alarming the Emperor. High Priest Mora requests your presence immediately to discuss countermeasures."

Mo Han was startled by the news. He had initially assumed the Dark Church was responsible, but recalling that Liu Yanran had been busy reorganizing and developing the church recently, it seemed unlikely she would have the time to strike the Church of Light. If not them, then who? Lost in thought, Mo Han quickly replied, "Then let's hurry over and take a look."

As he finished speaking, about to apologize to Daili and the others, Daili smiled and interjected, "It's alright, you go attend to your business. We'll explore on our own. But you must be careful."

Mo Han nodded in agreement instantly, turned, boarded Murong Tian's carriage, and they headed directly toward the direction of the Cathedral of Light.

On the way to the Cathedral of Light, Mo Han learned from Murong Tian that in the dead of night yesterday, a mysterious masked figure had entered the Cathedral of Light in Tianlong City and, without a word, killed several people. Priest Mora rushed to intervene but was wounded by the assailant. In a short time, the attacker had slain over a dozen priests and Guardian Knights, injured dozens more, and left a warning that they would return today. Priest Mora had already issued the Church of Light's highest distress signal, the Sacred Fire Token. It was expected that personnel from the nearest Church of Light garrisons would arrive throughout the day to provide support, with hopes they would all reach the city by tonight. Furthermore, the Emperor had commanded the Tianlong Legion to protect the Cathedral of Light, recognizing that trouble for the Church of Light in Tianlong City would invariably create significant problems for the Tianlong Empire.

Hearing all this, Mo Han finally understood Murong Tian's earlier agitation. He and Mora were considered friends bound by life and death; it was no wonder he was so anxious.

Mo Han reflected that his own relationship with Mora was quite good; Mora had provided significant aid during his battle against Bloodslaughter. If the cloaked figure indeed returned today, Mo Han felt obligated to assist Mora.

With this thought, Mo Han began to ponder: Who could it be? Why target the Church of Light, and what was their ultimate goal? The carriage arrived at the Grand Cathedral of Light amidst Mo Han's contemplation, but since he could not conjure any clues, he set the matter aside for the moment.

Alighting from the carriage, Mo Han realized it was his first time seeing the Grand Cathedral of Light. It was not as conspicuous as he had imagined—merely a very ordinary-looking church. Mo Han had assumed that given the strength and wealth of the Church of Light, their cathedral in the capital of the Tianlong Empire would at least be impressive. Yet, what he saw was entirely contrary to his expectations: a very old and unremarkable structure. Aside from its larger scale, there was almost nothing distinctive; everything appeared profoundly simple, with visible signs of multiple repairs on the exterior walls. He couldn't help but find it strange: with the Church of Light possessing such wealth, why was this cathedral so worn down, unlike other churches he had encountered?

Noticing Mo Han's expression, Murong Tian smiled and said, "Brother Mo Han, are you perhaps surprised that the Cathedral of Light is so plain, lacking the splendor of other churches?" Mo Han nodded, "It is a bit strange. The churches I've seen along my journeys elsewhere were all quite ornate. Given the Church of Light's standing, why would the cathedral in the Imperial Capital be in this state?" Murong Tian smiled in response, "Actually, the Church of Light allocates no less than one hundred thousand gold coins annually to the Grand Cathedral of Tianlong City. However, High Priest Mora believes that this money is unnecessary for superficial displays. Therefore, he dedicates almost all of it to supporting the poor and needy, retaining only a minimal portion for the church's routine upkeep. That is why there has never been surplus money for renovations."

Hearing this, Mo Han's admiration for Mora's character grew even deeper. People who prioritized the impoverished to this extent were exceedingly rare nowadays—at least, Mo Han had not encountered anyone similar since arriving in this world. With this realization, Mo Han's resolve to help Mora solidified, and he said, "In that case, we should quickly go inside and assess the situation."

Responding to Mo Han's words, Murong Tian nodded in agreement. They approached the iron gate at the entrance of the cathedral, which was currently bolted shut. Inside, several Guardian Knights and priests were patrolling, presumably due to the events of the previous night.

Murong Tian stepped forward and knocked. The knight who opened the door immediately recognized Murong Tian and said respectfully, "General Murong, High Priest Mora instructed that if you arrived, you should come directly inside to find him."

Murong Tian nodded his thanks, said no more, and led Mo Han straight into the cathedral.

Upon entering the main hall, Mo Han observed even more people working busily. Several injured individuals were being treated by priests. In the center of the hall, atop a platform, lay more than ten bodies covered with white sheets—presumably those who perished last night. The surviving priests and knights all wore expressions of profound grief.

Seeing Murong Tian, the priests quickly greeted him, and Murong Tian nodded in return. High Priest Mora, supported by a few knights, approached Mo Han and the others. Mora's complexion was extremely pale, suggesting his injuries were quite severe. Mo Han immediately spoke, "High Priest Mora, haven't you allowed others to heal you? Why is your complexion still so poor?" Mora managed a wry smile and replied, "I received treatment this morning, but that black-clad man struck too heavily. Moreover, the other priests here do not know the advanced healing magics, and my injuries are relatively serious; ordinary restorative spells are insufficient. I require casting from a Bishop or higher rank to heal properly, which is why it has been delayed until now."
