Zhong Shenxiu paid no mind to Payne’s fiery outburst; a brute like him, Zhong Shenxiu could send him to the netherworld with a mere flick of his finger. His gaze fixed solely on Lisa, Zhong Shenxiu’s tone turned decidedly cold. “I advise you to properly discipline your subordinate.”
A simple sentence, yet no one present understood its true weight. In the cultivation world, when Zhong Shenxiu spoke such words, it signaled profound anger, and the consequences would be dire!
“Damn it, you little brat, who do you think you are, strutting around like that!” Payne spat out again, seething with indignation. If Lisa hadn’t been there, he would have already stepped forward to teach the arrogant child a lesson. Little did he know, every word he uttered brought him one step closer to Death’s door.
“Payne, stand down. This is no place for you to speak!” To everyone’s surprise, Lisa showed Payne no mercy, ordering him to retreat in front of the crowd. However, this stern rebuke inadvertently saved Payne’s life.
Though deeply unwilling, Payne had to obey his Vice-Captain’s command. He shot Zhong Shenxiu a glare before stepping back to the side.
In his fixation on Zhong Shenxiu, he had completely missed Robin watching him with a pair of equally blazing eyes. If Zhong Shenxiu hadn’t restrained her, it was certain that Payne would never have known how he met his end.
While Payne remained oblivious to Robin, Lisa was acutely aware of the little girl who had remained silent but whose eyes constantly radiated an unstoppable, chilling light. The moment Robin was about to move, Lisa’s innate female sixth sense warned her that this seemingly quiet and fragile girl was an absolute threat.
Seeing Payne withdraw, Lisa finally turned to Zhong Shenxiu and inquired, “May I ask who the two of you are?”
“We are the owners of this cabin. What you are doing is trespassing. Before I exert myself, instruct your people to gather their belongings and leave my house.” Zhong Shenxiu stated.
“Why should we leave just because you tell us to! You claim this place is yours, but I might just say it’s mine!” Payne, standing nearby, shouted without any sense of self-preservation.
Zhong Shenxiu didn't spare him a glance, his eyes remaining locked on Lisa the entire time.
After a brief silence, Lisa suddenly addressed a young man standing beside her. “Anbela, tell the others to pack up and get out of here.”
“Vice-Captain, why should we just—” Payne complained, stepping forward to challenge Lisa.
Before he could finish his sentence, Lisa cut him off with a single sharp command: “You, shut up!”
It was evident that this mercenary squad was well-trained, as they finished packing their gear in a short amount of time.
Zhong Shenxiu then suddenly spoke to Robin beside him. “Robin, go fetch the carriage.”
Zhong Shenxiu had no intention of losing the carriage he had paid for; wastefulness was not in his habits.
Robin said nothing, merely shooting Payne a ferocious glare before vanishing with a sharp swoosh!
That single movement stunned everyone present. They had been keeping their focus squarely on Zhong Shenxiu and Robin, meticulously watching every move. Yet, how bizarre was it that a living person could simply disappear with a swoosh? It was utterly inexplicable!
Lisa was also deeply shocked. Although her intuition had warned her that the little girl was no ordinary person, she hadn't expected anything so bizarre—vanishing right before their eyes. What incredible speed could achieve such an effect?
If this display was astonishing, imagine their expressions if they knew Robin was wearing a weighted suit approaching a hundred pounds!
Zhong Shenxiu paid little heed to their astonished faces as he slowly started walking toward the cabin.
At this moment, everyone held their breath, as if every step Zhong Shenxiu took exerted immense pressure upon them.
Payne stopped his antics, retreating far away like a scolded cur. This suffocating pressure only lifted when Zhong Shenxiu finally entered the house, allowing the others to finally draw a breath.
“Why are you all out here? What happened?” Just then, Xilaien, the Captain of the Cross Sword Mercenary Group, returned, looking highly surprised to find his entire team standing outside with such peculiar expressions.
“Captain, you’re finally here! You must settle this for us!” Payne rushed over to his Captain, like a resentful wife finding her backbone.
However, Xilaien completely ignored him, walking directly to Lisa.
“What occurred?” Xilaien asked.
Lisa, somewhat distracted, briefly recounted the events that had just transpired.
“You handled that situation well!” Xilaien praised Lisa, though a note of confusion followed. “Are those two children really that formidable?”
“I don’t know if they are formidable, but I know they are definitely dangerous!” Lisa replied, trying to maintain her composure.
Xilaien fell into deep thought, saying no more.
Just then, Robin returned, driving the carriage.
Seeing it was the little girl who had vanished earlier, everyone quickly made way for her.
“My subordinates were extremely impolite just now, my apologies,” Xilaien said apologetically to Robin, who was busy securing the horses.
Robin returned a statement that greatly startled him.
“Your subordinates are very lucky they kept their lives!” Robin finished, ignoring the group entirely as she walked into the cabin.
“Captain, why did you return so quickly?” Anbela asked.
“I had a feeling something might be wrong here, so I came back to check,” Xilaien explained.
“The Captain’s feeling is spot on!” Anbela agreed.
Xilaien smiled faintly and said nothing more.
“Captain, what do we do now?” Anbela inquired.
“This… perhaps we should—” Xilaien’s words trailed off as he noticed Robin emerging from the cabin, cradling a pile of strange objects. These strange objects were none other than Robin’s favorite food: sweet potatoes.
Next, Robin fetched firewood, built a small blaze, and placed the sweet potatoes directly into the fire.
“Captain, what is she doing?” Anbela whispered curiously.
Xilaien didn't answer; truthfully, he had no idea what Robin was doing. If she was preparing food, he had never seen anyone prepare it this way—scorching it black in the fire—how could one possibly eat that?
But after a short while, a rich fragrance began to permeate the air. This aroma was undeniably irresistible to the mercenary squad, who hadn't eaten properly for days.
“It smells so good! Why is it so fragrant? What is that thing? Is it food?” The crowd began to buzz with speculation.
While they were all guessing, Zhong Shenxiu emerged from the inner room and began eating dinner with Robin.
Zhong Shenxiu and Robin ate wholeheartedly, completely unfazed by the greedy gazes of the surrounding people.
The taste was truly exquisite. Especially watching Robin devour her meal with gusto, her little mouth moving like a miniature excavator, the onlookers found their own mouths watering uncontrollably.
