Only after Robin performed the "Moon Sucking Technique" on Jayne did she finally grasp Zhong Shenxiu's intention. She stole a glance at him, and upon seeing him looking back, quickly averted her gaze.
Robin took slightly longer than Zhong Shenxiu, but she completed the task smoothly nonetheless.
Next, Zhong Shenxiu and Robin worked together, instantly doubling the speed of the healing process.
It took less than three hours to finish treating the last Necromancer. By then, both Zhong Shenxiu and Robin’s Dark Sorcery power had more than doubled.
When Faraday saw Zhong Shenxiu and Robin preparing to leave, his heart swelled with emotion: What truly great individuals! He departed as swiftly and silently as he arrived, without disturbing a single cloud. To dedicate so much precious time to strangers like them, asking for nothing in return—how respectable and admirable they were!
If Zhong Shenxiu were to know the content of Faraday’s inner monologue, he would surely sweat buckets!
"Master, please wait!" Faraday hurried to block Zhong Shenxiu’s path.
"Is there something else?" Zhong Shenxiu inquired.
"Master, you have done so much for us; we simply cannot let you leave like this. That would be terribly inhospitable of us," Faraday insisted.
As soon as Faraday spoke, many of the Necromancers voiced their agreement.
"Yes, yes, Master, you can’t just leave. At the very least, stay for a meal," someone proposed.
"Excellent idea! We can all chip in and treat the Master to dinner at a proper establishment!" someone else loudly advocated.
"The 'Drunken Eight Immortals' in the city is quite good; let’s go there," another person chimed in.
"..."
A lively mix of suggestions filled the air, creating quite a bustling scene.
"My time is limited; I am very busy!" Zhong Shenxiu threw out that familiar phrase once more, then departed with Robin, their exit decidedly lacking in warmth.
Watching Zhong Shenxiu and Robin disappear into the distance, the Necromancers fell into a profound silence.
As the carriage receded, someone among the Necromancers murmured, "What good people! I never thought such good people existed in this world!"
"Indeed. Such good people are becoming rarer and rarer..."
"It turns out there really are people in this world who practice 'selfless devotion' and 'saving the dying and healing the injured'!"
"..."
In that moment, every single Necromancer was deeply moved.
Meanwhile, Zhong Shenxiu was ecstatic! He hadn't expected to so effortlessly double his own strength; it felt like a cake had fallen from the sky, and inside the cake was a winning lottery ticket worth five million.
"Robin, in a few more days, we'll tour the world," Zhong Shenxiu suddenly told the driver, Robin, for no apparent reason.
Robin said nothing, but in her heart, she mused that no matter where she followed her Master, there would always be unexpected gains.
Since their return was so late, night had already fallen. Fortunately, the sky was clear, and it was a full moon.
However, a small anomaly appeared: Zhong Shenxiu noticed faint wisps of smoke rising from the direction of their small cabin.
Could the cabin have caught fire?
Zhong Shenxiu and Robin abandoned the carriage and activated their movement techniques, sprinting at full speed toward the cabin.
"Payne, you all rest here. Kashi and I will scout around to see if there’s anything to eat," Sylain said.
"Captain, don't worry. This isn't the Demonic Beast Forest; there isn't much danger," Payne replied carelessly.
"Don't let your guard down. We have a mission, and we cannot afford any mistakes," Sylain stated sternly.
"Relax, isn't the Vice-Captain here? If you don't trust me, you must trust the Vice-Captain, right?" Payne said with a grin, looking toward a very beautiful young woman in green nearby, who appeared to be about eighteen.
"Lisha, watch them. I’ll be right back," Sylain instructed.
The woman in green nodded slightly but said nothing.
This group was the "Cross Sword Mercenary Group," formed less than a year ago. The name came about because the leader, Sylain, was a Swordsman whose blade closely resembled a cross.
Two months prior, the group had accepted a simple mission: deliver a letter to a Necromancer named Faraday.
Having finally traversed the Demonic Beast Forest today, they spotted the small cabin built by Zhong Shenxiu and Robin. Exhausted and tense after over a month of travel, they decided to camp there for the night.
The faint smoke Zhong Shenxiu had seen was these people building a fire to ward off the chill.
"Robin, do you know who they are?" Zhong Shenxiu communicated via telepathy to Robin, who was observing from a tree.
"No, I think they are a mercenary group," Robin replied.
"Mercenary group? What do they do?" Zhong Shenxiu asked again.
"I only know that mercenaries accept tasks from the Mercenary Association, and collect their pay from the Association upon completion," Robin explained briefly.
"Then why are they here?" Zhong Shenxiu pressed.
"Robin doesn't know," she admitted.
"Let's go down!" With that, Zhong Shenxiu was the first to move, dissolving into a blur and shooting downward, with Robin following instantly, equally swift as a phantom streak.
"Who are you people?" Zhong Shenxiu asked the resting group with utter composure.
"Who?" Almost instinctively, the group, which had been relaxed moments before, snapped to high alert, their eyes intensely fixed on Zhong Shenxiu and Robin.
"Who is in charge here?" Zhong Shenxiu asked unhurriedly, showing no concern for their defensive posture.
"Hello, I am Lisha, the Vice-Captain of the Cross Sword Mercenary Group. Our Captain is absent, so I have authority here for now," Lisha stepped forward, cautiously assessing the two newcomers.
Lisha was a Water Mage of considerable skill, having already reached the rank of Archmage. Yet, despite her power, she had no idea how these two children had appeared. If they were enemies, it would be terrifying!
"Hey everyone, look! Where did these kids come from?" Upon seeing only two children, Payne immediately became dismissive.
"Who are you to speak here? Is it your place to talk?" Zhong Shenxiu intensely disliked being looked down upon. In the Cultivation World, he was a figure of immense renown; how could he tolerate such slighting?
"You little brat, is it your place to talk here?" Payne retorted, his eyes blazing. To be called a 'little brat' by a child today—how would he maintain any standing in the team now?
Seeing someone dare to call Zhong Shenxiu a 'little brat,' Robin immediately took offense and was about to strike, but Zhong Shenxiu, sensing her intent, restrained her.
