The First Prince, hearing Mo Han's suggestion, was momentarily taken aback before offering a wry smile. "Heh, I think I finally understand the Envoy's true purpose. This wine, it seems, isn't so easy to swallow after all."
Mo Han quickly interjected, "Your Highness, please don't misunderstand. I am not acting for my own sake. If war truly breaks out, it will be a disaster for the people of both nations. I fear the final outcome will only be mutual devastation, with the only beneficiaries being those behind the scenes pulling the strings. I sincerely hope Your Highness will consider this carefully."
The First Prince listened to Mo Han's words and replied, "I fear it will be difficult to persuade my father, the Emperor, and my second brother. Envoy, you needn't trouble yourself trying to sway me here. I have already done all I could; I opposed it, but to no avail. There is no stopping the proposals put forth by the Emperor and the Prophet."
Hearing this, Mo Han responded, "Your Highness doesn't need to say much. It is simply rumored that I am scheduled to have an audience with your Beast Emperor tomorrow. I only hope that tomorrow, Your Highness can be present to lend me a hand. I would be eternally grateful."
"I am thinking of the people of both our nations. I have long heard that Your Highness is a ruler who cherishes his people like his own flesh and blood, which is why I dared to approach you for help. I hope you will grant my request."
Upon hearing Mo Han's proposal, the First Prince pondered with a troubled expression before speaking, "So, you already know. I was planning to summon you to inform you myself. Very well, I will put in a few words for you tomorrow. As for whether it succeeds or not, that is beyond my ability to control."
Hearing the First Prince's answer, Mo Han replied joyfully, "Naturally so. I thank Your Highness in advance. Regardless of whether tomorrow's matter is successful, I will always regard Your Highness as a friend."
The First Prince smiled upon hearing this and said, "That is what I intended to say as well, heh. Come, let us drink heartily tonight! I also wish you success in persuading my father tomorrow."
With that, he raised the wine bottle in his hand. Mo Han quickly picked up a bottle as well, saying, "Thank you for your auspicious words, Your Highness. I will certainly do my utmost."
After draining their bottles, the two looked at each other and burst into hearty laughter, soon engaging in pleasant conversation.
Mo Han remained until nightfall, and only when he was slightly tipsy was he escorted back to the official guesthouse to rest.
As soon as he stepped through the gate of the guesthouse, the clerk hurried forward. "Envoy, you have returned. A friend has been waiting for you in your room for quite some time."
Upon hearing this, half the drunkenness immediately cleared from Mo Han's mind. He recalled Liu Yanran and hurried toward his room.
Entering the room, he saw Liu Yanran sitting boredly at the table, playfully teasing Xiao Mo, who was happily sprawling on the table, enjoying her gentle stroking.
Seeing Mo Han enter, Liu Yanran joyfully sprang into his arms, saying, "You finally decided to come back! Why were you gone for so long?" Mo Han smiled, patted her back, and replied, "Heh, I didn't know you would be here. Otherwise, even if the Beast Emperor himself had summoned me today, I absolutely would not have left."
Liu Yanran giggled and shot him a look, saying, "You expect me to believe that?" Then, her expression turned worried. "Oh, right, I came to tell you that the Beast Emperor will receive you tomorrow. I only just heard it from my Master this afternoon. That Beast Clan Prophet is said to be present as well. I am worried they might target you tomorrow."
Mo Han smiled upon hearing this. "Heh, I already know. Don't worry, I told you, I'm like a cockroach—hard to kill."
Liu Yanran retorted, "Always bragging. According to my Master, the Prophet's abilities are no less than that of a Grand Archmage. You must be careful! Moreover, he is skilled in many Dark Magic arts that are impossible to guard against. You cannot afford to be careless."
Hearing this, Mo Han realized there was a high probability that this Prophet was a spy for the Nether Race. Being skilled in Dark Magic—if he were the true Prophet, shouldn't he abstain from such magic? Thinking this, Mo Han asked, "Is there no one in the Beast Clan who suspects the Prophet? After all, very few people possess knowledge of Dark Magic."
Hearing Mo Han's question, Liu Yanran explained, "It's not entirely strange. After all, previous Prophets of the Beast Clan all possessed different magics. However, they shared one common characteristic: they all possessed the ultimate technique of the Beast Clan—the Beast Aura."
At this, Mo Han asked quizzically, "The Beast Aura? What is that?" Liu Yanran gave him an exasperated look. "You don't even know that, yet you dare to be an envoy to the Beast Clan? I truly don't know how you managed to become an Envoy!" But she continued her explanation anyway: "This Beast Aura is said to be the magic bestowed upon the Beast Clan subjects by the Beast God. Only the Prophet can comprehend it."
"And it is said that the Beast Aura is something each successive Prophet of the Beast Clan comprehends on their own; it cannot be taught. Even if one attempted to teach it, no one could learn it. Only the next Prophet can comprehend it themselves, because in the Beast Clan, the Prophet means a person blessed by the Beast God, and only they can grasp the secret of the Beast Aura."
Mo Han then asked, "That troublesome? I think the Beast God is just messing with people, or maybe he doesn't even understand it himself and is just tricking everyone. Saying it must be self-comprehended—what nonsense."
Hearing Mo Han's words, Liu Yanran couldn't grasp the exact meaning of "trick," but she could generally sense that Mo Han was not speaking well of the tradition. She couldn't help but laugh lightly. "You just talk nonsense! You mustn't say such things outside. If the Beast Clan people overheard you, they’d fight you to the death! The Beast God is their most revered deity."
Mo Han laughed, "Heh, I'm only saying it to you. How could someone as astute as I be so foolish?"
Liu Yanran giggled charmingly, "Yes, you are cunning and full of tricks."
Mo Han scratched his head awkwardly, then continued to ask, "Since it's so difficult to learn, what kind of power does the Beast Aura possess?" Liu Yanran explained, "Since it's called the ultimate technique of the Beast Clan, it is naturally incredibly powerful. Unlike the ordinary auras of the Beast Clan, it greatly increases the attack power and attack speed of all allies within its range—at least doubling them—and the effect can last for half a day."
Mo Han gasped. "That is somewhat similar to the Holy Light Sect's high-level magic—Drumbeat of War. However, its range and duration are far more potent than Drumbeat of War, and its effect surpasses it as well. If it doubles everything, wouldn't a Sword Saint become invincible?"
