Last night, after finishing my update, there was a system glitch, so I reverted my computer to its factory state. To be safe, I moved every crucial piece of data onto a USB drive, successfully resolved the system issue, and confirmed all important files were present.
I truly thought that would be the end of it, but no!
Just as I was watching some anime and preparing to shut down for bed, I powered off the machine, used the restroom, and returned to find the desktop completely frozen. I forced a shutdown, then tried to restart... Gray screen, gray screen, gray screen—the eternal gray screen!
I suppose you could call that a system crash?
This wouldn't have been a catastrophe normally; at worst, I'd have to spend some time resetting the system again. But the catch, the massive, agonizing catch, is that after I had just finished setting everything up the first time, I had moved all the important data from the USB drive back onto the computer!
Yes, you read that right: Cut. It was Cut, not Copy! Why on earth wouldn't I understand the difference between cutting and copying?!
So, my current situation: every single online account I've built over the years, save for my author profile and my QQ, is now dangling by a thread—including bank cards, Alipay credentials, broadband account details, and even the foundational drafts for my novel... Nothing was spared!
The only reason my QQ account survived is that I had forgotten the password and had just reset it via SMS yesterday; otherwise, that too would have plummeted into the abyss.
I'm sitting in an internet café now, using my laptop. Since it’s still early, the repair shops haven't opened yet. I'll take it in shortly. If they can recover the data, all will be safe. If they can't... I truly don't know what I'll do.
I have only one wish right now: I would trade a lifetime of integrity to get my data back!!! (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, please consider casting your recommendation votes and monthly tickets; your support is my greatest motivation.) RQ
