The tower doesn't wish to become the Tower of A-Q's Sorrow either; it's just that the weekly recommendation list seems a bit precarious. So today, I shamelessly implore everyone once more: please give me your recommendation votes. Thank you all, truly, thank you all so much.
"Begging you? Bah! Asking you?" Chen Yantu aggressively flashed his middle finger at Squad Leader Hao: "Recognize this? You kicked down my damn door! Is that how you ask someone? No way, no way, no way! I'm busy! I’d rather die than go!"
"Alright then." Squad Leader Hao shrugged with an air of resignation: "Sigh! I did give you a chance, but you didn't seize it. In that case, the younger brother of that man will have to be trained in martial arts by me alone."
"What!" Chen Yantu’s irritation instantly froze. He watched as Squad Leader Hao didn't even spare him a glance, turning on his heel and strutting out with a pigeon-toed gait.
"Hey!" Chen Yantu couldn't hold back this time. He flashed forward, blocking Squad Leader Hao’s path, staring fiercely at him: "Who's brother did you just say?"
"That man’s," Squad Leader Hao replied with a knowing smile: "The brother of Qin Zhan—the one who once casually beat the supposed toughest fighter, you, into a pulp. His younger brother has enlisted, and unfortunately for him! This kid’s intuition for martial arts is no less impressive than his older brother’s."
"Is that so? I’ll train him!" Chen Yantu cracked his knuckles with a sharp pop-pop-pop, grinning darkly. "The memory his brother left me, I will repay it to his brother a hundredfold! Forget whether this kid is a genius or a complete waste; I won't tarnish my own reputation over it! This boy is getting trained by me!"
"Is that so?" Squad Leader Hao reached out and clapped Chen Yantu on the shoulder. "Battalion Commander Chen, you've already refused me. Therefore, you lose your chance to participate in this game of training Qin Fen. Go on and keep playing the big shot! Many outstanding brothers were taught a lesson by that man back in the day, and I believe they would all be interested in joining the plan to train Qin Fen into a super-soldier specialist."
"Old Hao! Aren't we brothers?"
"We are not!" Squad Leader Hao shook his head decisively. "You are my enemy! I broke your door panel."
"That’s because my door panel wasn't strong enough; it has nothing to do with you."
"You are very busy."
"I am very free!"
"You just said that you’d rather die than go."
"But I'm not dead yet." Chen Yantu finally deployed his ultimate trump card: "Old Hao, you still owe me money! Either pay up, or let me go drill the younger brother of that man!"
Squad Leader Hao struck a pose of resolute defiance: "I’d rather sell my underwear to rich old ladies as a gigolo before I scrape together enough money to pay you back!"
"Old Hao," Chen Yantu was completely exasperated: "What exactly do you want?"
"Wipe the slate clean on the debt, and treat me to a meal at the Golden Pavilion." Squad Leader Hao’s smile had once again reverted to the honest, guileless expression he wore aboard the transport ship that day.
Hearing the name 'Golden Pavilion,' Chen Yantu's eye twitched several times, before he finally ground out through clenched teeth: "Fine! I agree to your terms! Damn it! The brother of that man! Before I even start training him, you’ve cost me this much money! If I don't beat the very testicles out of this kid, I'm not Butcher Chen Yuantu!"
"Don't go making threats there," Squad Leader Hao said, having walked ahead and looking back. "Go find Gun Freak. That kid Qin Fen has potential, but not the heaven-defying talent of his older brother. Since he intends to enter the competition, I must secure the best teacher for him."
"Enter the competition?" The Butcher's blood immediately boiled. He rushed two steps to catch up to Squad Leader Hao. "You mean that kid plans to compete? How good is his talent? Don't disgrace us old folks when the time comes."
"His talent is acceptable, but his motivation for competing is flawed," Squad Leader Hao shook his head with genuine distress. "He's apparently doing it just to get a slightly larger bonus upon retirement. That kind of mindset rarely carries one to the final stages."
The Butcher nodded silently. Only those who had participated understood the cruelty of the mid-to-late stages. Which of those who made it there relied only on raw talent? That was no place for mere talent to carry you.
Of course… the Butcher suddenly remembered Qin Zhan. That monster was the ultimate exception to every rule. He believed that even in the most brutal phase of the competition's later stages, that man could still use his supreme talent to let everyone know that there truly existed an unmatched prodigy towering above all geniuses.
Arriving about twenty meters from an unlit cabin, Squad Leader Hao and the Butcher exchanged a look and stopped. They each picked up several stones from the ground and simultaneously hurled them toward the cabin door.
Tap-tap-tap…
A sudden burst of gunfire erupted, the bullets piercing the wooden door and accurately shattering every hurled stone mid-air.
"Who?"
The door burst open violently. Gun Freak, standing a towering one meter eighty-three, burst from the structure like a humanoid Gundam, gripping the newest model RPG-19 rocket launchers in both hands.
The undisputed Gun King among all the instructors at the recruit camp! Sun Chi, also known as Gun Freak.
"Second Brother, it’s us." Squad Leader Hao felt a chill even looking at the two brand-new rocket launchers. Any firearm or cannon placed in Gun Freak’s hands would be modified; if Sun Chi claimed these rocket launchers could disable mobile armor, he certainly wasn't joking around.
'Second Brother' wasn't Sun Chi’s actual ranking, but a nickname he bestowed upon himself.
In the past, his nickname was 'Big Brother,' claiming to be number one among gunners! Whether modifying weapons or firing them, Sun Chi would dismiss even ace snipers as being at a kindergarten level.
Such arrogant behavior naturally incurred the ire of many top sharpshooters from various military regions, leading to endless challenges.
However, every master marksman who came to challenge him left disappointed. Not a single person could surpass him in matters of firearms.
Perhaps someone in the world could beat him—for instance, the top ten super-assassins/snipers ranked by the Federation. These assassins, existing solely to kill, would never seek out Sun Chi merely for reputation.
It wasn't until Qin Fen’s older brother, Qin Zhan, appeared that Sun Chi swiftly changed his nickname from 'Big Brother' to 'Second Brother.' Qin Zhan’s sudden disappearance further rendered the Gun Freak, the Gun King, even more taciturn; he lost his chance to avenge himself against Qin Zhan.
"Get to the point. I am currently researching how to increase the destructive power of these rocket launchers to a level where a single soldier can easily disable a Type 92 Mobile Armor unit."
Squad Leader Hao and the Butcher exchanged bitter smiles. Challenging first-generation humanoid mobile armor with shoulder-fired rocket launchers? Although the first-gen armor had been retired from active duty and relegated to research and exploration tasks, it was still mechanized armor! Only a madman like this would conceive of challenging it with shoulder-fired RPGs.
"That man's younger brother has appeared," the Butcher interjected before Squad Leader Hao could trap anyone else, stating it immediately. "Don't just stand there! It's the guy who carried an antique rifle and defeated you thirty-two rounds straight before leaving because he was bored—Qin Zhan! His brother is here, and Old Hao wants us to help train him."
The Gun King, Sun Chi, who had looked displeased moments before, had his eyes instantly sharpen like a lone wolf in the dead of night: "Where? Where is he? How is the kid’s talent?"
