What were Kaguya and Sakuya really planning to do with the parallel worlds?
Lin Luo felt this question needed clarification, because up until now, Gaia and Aleph had been managing Earth's dimension and its countless parallel universes. If Kaguya and Sakuya truly controlled these parallel worlds, it would mean they'd seized territory from these two consciousnesses - their jobs themselves.
The resulting issues were straightforward: by seizing control, Kaguya and Sakuya would inevitably have to take on management responsibilities. But for someone with their personalities to sacrifice freedom? That was clearly unthinkable.
So Earth and all its parallel worlds would become lawless territories without oversight. Kaguya and Sakuya might be free of burdens, but chaos would erupt across dimensions. Take the Type-Moon world as an example - just by dealing with interdimensional travelers alone, Gaia and Aleph had purged tens of thousands over time. Without management, the sheer chaos from these travelers could create catastrophic waves.
Even if only one "dragon king" emerged among a hundred travelers, hundreds of such powerhouses would be enough to turn worlds into war zones. This could directly or indirectly cause temporal axis and world line instability - not just existential threats for entire dimensions, but also unpredictable consequences in places like Gensokyo. Imagine that disaster from A Certain Magical Index scenario? What if dragon kings descended on Gensokyo demanding to marry Reimu?
According to web novel logic, ninety-nine out of a hundred travelers would inevitably become unstoppable powerhouses. Even with his godlike abilities, Lin Luo doubted he could completely eliminate all these self-proclaimed saviors!
And interdimensional travelers were merely minor incidents compared to the truly dangerous problems - spontaneous temporal axis chaos, autonomous world line collapse, or other unpredictable phenomena requiring Gaia and Aleph's interventions to maintain stability. If those two were ousted without replacements...
Lin Luo shook his head. Unless Kaguya had a rational solution in mind, he couldn't agree to their plan. For everyone else it might seem trivial, but Earth and all its parallel worlds could face annihilation - resulting in deaths measured in the trillions. That was something he simply wouldn't do.
And if Earth fell, Gensokyo would perish too.
Kaguya likely understood Lin Luo's concerns. She waved her hand with a carefree smile: "Don't worry. We value Gensokyo more than you think. Of course we've considered your concerns - we'd never do anything to threaten it. While I did mention seizing all parallel worlds earlier, that was just a stepping stone metaphorically speaking. We're only temporarily borrowing them, not trying to permanently replace Gaia and Aleph. We'll return everything once done, causing at most minor inconveniences."
Lin Luo nodded at this reassurance - nothing more needed said now. But he furrowed his brows: "You really think it's just a small problem?"
Kagune smirked knowingly: "For others, perhaps major troubles. For you? Definitely negligible."
"...Fine," Lin Luo muttered, already beginning to worry.
When the two seemed settled, Sakuya interjected: "If step one is finalized, then should we bring her over next?"
"Someone else coming?" Lin Luo blinked in surprise.
Kaguya nodded cheerfully: "Already did earlier. I sent word."
"Wait - who are you talking about?!" Lin Luo felt an ominous chill as they spoke in riddles.
Kaguya giggled, covering her mouth: "Someone very close to you."
Sakuya added: "Or perhaps two people."
Lin Luo winced: "Would you stop being cryptic?"
"Don't worry," Kaguya's eyes glittered with mischief, "you'll find out soon enough."
As expected, this woman would always keep secrets. Lin Luo resigned himself to waiting when suddenly - a crack split the air like tearing silk, revealing an abyssal rift in space.
A gap! Was it Sakurazuka?
Lin Luo's mind raced. Earlier they'd said she couldn't participate, so why appear now?
He opened his mouth to ask but was cut off as someone emerged from the rift. When he saw who it was...
The girl stepping through looked around sixteen or seventeen with a statuesque frame reaching nearly 170cm. Her crimson eyes contrasted with violet hair in a ponytail, two side bangs framing her face and a massive bow at her nape. Wearing gray boots and a black flame-trimmed sleeveless miko uniform - this wasn't Sakurazuka or Reimu either.
Yet there was something undeniably familiar about the girl's striking resemblance to Reimu, down to similar hairstyle and bearing. But closer inspection revealed an aura more akin to Sakurazuka's enigmatic nature.
Lin Luo stood frozen as the girl landed before him. Her expression suddenly shifted from calm detachment to radiant excitement at sight of Lin Luo:
"Father!" She lunged forward with a tight embrace, pressing against his chest in an entirely different way than Reimu ever would have.
Silence fell - heavy and absolute.
Lin Luo's brain short-circuited completely. Where was Yuugure with her thirteen-year flood? He'd returned home for less than a day yet found himself with a teenage daughter!
Kaguya and Sakuya watched silently, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
When Lin Luo finally found his voice, it came out strangled: "Uh... who exactly are you?"
The girl pulled back to reveal tear-filled eyes as she clung tighter: "Father - it's me, Houraisan! Your daughter at sixteen years old! Have you forgotten me already?!"
Ah right. This wasn't unexpected after all. The moment Lin Luo saw the uniform, recognition had flickered in his mind but he needed confirmation.
But...
How did this child suddenly age so much? Even if one day in Eienchou equaled a year elsewhere, he'd only stayed less than twenty-four hours!
"Ugh - I need to clear my head," Lin Luo groaned, turning away when Houraisan immediately tugged him back.
Now she crouched with her hand cupped under her chin: "Where is Father going?"
Lin Luo's brow twitched at the overtly childish gesture. "The... Um, Hakurei Shrine."
"Why return there?" she pouted.
"To check if my daughter Reimu is still there."
"Reimu is right here!" Her eyes welled again. "Don't you believe me?!"
Classic female manipulation - cry, scream, and threaten suicide. Lin Luo surrendered instantly: "Of course I believe you're Reimu. I just want to confirm..."
Her appearance, her calling the shrine home instead of just referencing it like Reimu did... These were all markers only Reimu would possess. And she carried a World Heart - impossible to fake.
"Then why check on little Houraisan?"
"Oh," she brightened instantly. "I didn't come from the future! Just left home five minutes ago with Mother holding some pills and looking very happy."
Lin Luo's jaw dropped.
Five minutes? Fourteen years passed?! What kind of time warp did she traverse to age from two to sixteen in mere moments?!
And what were those pills Reimu's mother was carrying - was it really Satsuki's breast-enhancing medicine?!
Too many plot holes, too much absurdity. Lin Luo stared at the sky, wondering if he should just accept this as normalcy... even by Gensokyo standards?
