Perhaps that sounds pretentious, but it truly describes the current situation. At the very least, the colossal stone staircase connecting heaven and earth, and the magnificent gate linked by that staircase, hovering ten thousand meters above, could only be seen and touched by those who were selected.
Yuyuko was the first to pass through the World Gate. The reason? Lin Luo had told her long ago that the Bright Realm was an incredibly abundant world—full of dragons, phoenixes, qilin, and Si Bu Xiang—so much bounty that one could never finish eating it all.
That statement had lodged itself deeply in Yuyuko's mind, so the moment the gate opened, no one could match her speed.
To be honest, Lin Luo felt a twinge of worry. Would she end up eating the Dragon Clan?
Next to enter were Hokaze Onjo and Mugino Shizuri. They had no attachments in this world, so their passage was light and easy. Now that the gate was open, it was time to re-enter the virtual space... Having gained some understanding of the Heaven Steps' profound meaning and having defeated high-level Abyss Demons, they were filled with anticipation for this next phase of cultivation.
Then, Lin Luo and Mikoto entered the World Gate, accompanied by nearly ten thousand Misaka Sisters, along with the other chosen ones.
This was perhaps the largest migration to date. Aside from the Misaka Sisters sharing the same face, there were still nearly a thousand others. These included people from both the science side and the magic side, those Lin Luo knew and those he didn't—everyone who had contributed during the war three days prior.
Once Lin Luo revealed his world, it piqued the interest of most people. Almost everyone wanted to visit. However, based on the principle of "one's own domain cannot be left entirely empty," he ultimately had to use a lottery system to select a few lucky groups to journey to the Bright Realm.
Of course, this didn't mean everyone would stay in the Bright Realm permanently. Many were merely curious, others had families, and some wouldn't abandon their existing organizations. For the majority, this trip to the Bright Realm was, at most, an excursion to another world.
This group included Mother Railgun and Father Railgun.
Since the two worlds had merged, Mikoto had wanted to invite her parents to live in the Bright Realm. However, Mother and Father Railgun had their own ideals. Compared to enjoying luxury in the Bright Realm, they preferred to stay here and strive for their own careers.
Although Mikoto was a little disappointed, she respected her parents' decision. After all, they already possessed passage permits and could travel between the two worlds at any time, so there was no need to be overly insistent.
However, a portion of the group had already decided to become citizens of the Bright Realm before even entering. This included, unsurprisingly, the Misaka Sisters; Accelerator, who couldn't leave Last Order; Shirai Kuroko, who followed her Onee-sama wherever she went; Saten Ruiko, wishing to repay a debt of salvation; and Kinuhata Saiai, who loved showing off her legs, among others... In essence, those with close ties to Lin Luo, and the entirety of the Jiyū Mercenary Corps, were basically settling in the Bright Realm.
Naturally, this also included Laura Stuart, who would be working for Lin Luo, and Kanzaki Kaori, who had essentially sold herself to Lin Luo (though she wasn't entirely willing, the die was cast, and she had to accept her fate), as well as the members of the Amakusa Style, determined to follow the Pope to the death.
With so many people pouring in at once, Lin Luo felt it necessary to reorganize the construction in the Bright Realm—perhaps building a few more cities on the ground, or converting some of the floating cities into habitable ones.
After all, the Sky Cities were not for just anyone to inhabit.
That was the absolute domain of this world.
"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Lin Luo had set the entrance to the World Gate atop one of the floating cities. Standing there, gazing into the distance, the crowd was immediately stunned by the novelty and beauty of the Bright Realm. Even individuals of Laura and Kanzaki's caliber stood agape at the wonders before them.
"Good heavens! What is that? A Rainbow Bridge! It's so gorgeous! If someone proposed to me on that bridge, I would definitely say yes." This came from a certain adolescent, lovesick nun... Hey, hey, you're a nun! Is it appropriate to say things like that?
"Look, the ocean over there is so beautiful, and what a massive whale!"
Indeed, a whale so black, hard, thick, and large.
"Quick, look at that city! It’s truly majestic."
Of course it’s majestic. It’s a crystal palace forged in blood.
"The forest below looks enchanting too."
Young lady, does it compare to the forest below you?
"Ah! Look, there are dragons flying in the sky! My goodness, this is the first time I've ever seen a real dragon!"
Yes, and it's the first time I've seen someone blow a kiss to a dragon. Young lady, are you truly not a giant creature fetishist? Oh wait, that giant dragon is Onyxia. Are you perhaps a lesbian?
"Wow, that’s amazing! That girl is chasing the dragon in the sky!"
Indeed, truly amazing. That girl is actually biting the dragon's tail... Huh?!
Every time one of these newcomers to the Bright Realm gasped in wonder, Lin Luo let out a silent internal complaint. But as he kept complaining, he suddenly felt something was off. He realized the girl chasing the dragon was Yuyuko. Her mouth was wide open, drool dripping, as she clung tightly behind the Black Dragon MM, who had rarely come out for a stroll.
What the hell!
Lin Luo was utterly mortified. He instantly teleported out, grabbing Yuyuko just before her mouth could clamp down on Onyxia’s tail.
"Ah! My dragon meat!" Yuyuko cried out in dismay.
"Who is your meat?!" The Black Dragon MM, likely enraged from being chased, stopped as soon as she saw Yuyuko subdued. She first roared loudly, then glared at Lin Luo, "Who is this gluttonous, stinking woman? She even wants to eat me!"
When mentioning 'eating,' the Black Dragon MM felt a lingering anger mixed with fear. If her strength hadn't recently surged, that strange woman might have left her without a single bone remaining.
Lin Luo scratched his head, feeling somewhat awkward. He really shouldn't have let Yuyuko run around unsupervised; she was too much of a troublemaker. If he hadn't caught up quickly, today might have been the Black Dragon MM's funeral anniversary.
"Well, this one is called the Glutton, her race is Saigyouji Yuyuko, her title is Undead... Uh, I think I misspoke."
Lin Luo shook his head to clear it, finally introducing their identities properly. He then said to Yuyuko with grave sincerity, "Onyxia isn't for eating, she’s for riding."
"Who are you calling a ridden one?!" The Black Dragon MM had been quite pleased with the first half of the sentence, but she became instantly furious upon hearing the latter part and roared at Lin Luo.
"What a pity. She's so huge, she should be quite delicious," Yuyuko gazed at Onyxia's massive dragon body, her mouth watering again.
Onyxia couldn't help but shudder, quickly transforming into her human shape and hiding behind Lin Luo with her small body. "Forget it. I think it’s better to be the ridden dragon."
Yuyuko watched the Black Dragon MM’s rapid transformations and her eyes gleamed. She covered her mouth and said suggestively, "Oh my, so you are the ridden one after all."
"..." Lin Luo sweatdropped. As expected, pink hair hides blackness. This glutton clearly possessed remarkably high intelligence and understood everything, yet insisted on feigning a simple-minded exterior—clearly playing the innocent to trap the stronger prey.
The farce between Yuyuko and the Black Dragon MM ended there. The Black Dragon MM, who had come out for a pleasant walk, nearly got eaten. Her mood instantly soured, and she glared before flying back toward Dragon City. As for Yuyuko, her eyes were darting around, clearly plotting something mischievous.
Lin Luo dared not let her wander off alone again, refusing to let her leave his side for any reason... Wait, could Yuyuko have done all that intentionally? Just to keep her permanent meal ticket tethered to her side?
Watching Yuyuko dance and skip along behind him, Lin Luo couldn't help but consider the possibility.
He might very well be the tiger destined to be eaten!
Afterward, Lin Luo brought Yuyuko back to the floating city. Although most of the crowd there were just onlookers, as the host, he needed to fulfill his duties. Thus, he specifically summoned nearly a hundred idle maids from the Sky City.
"Except for that Sky City, which requires my explicit approval to enter, everyone else is free to explore as they wish. As long as you don't do anything outrageous, you absolutely will not be stopped. Of course, this world still contains some dangerous creatures, so I have specially prepared a batch of guides for you... Oh, they're here."
As Lin Luo spoke, he pointed. Following his gesture, the crowd saw nearly a hundred Gundams, dozens of meters tall, flying in from the distance.
"Th-This is the legendary Gundam?!"
Gasps erupted from the crowd; clearly, a portion of them were mecha enthusiasts.
The Gundams flew close and stopped. The cockpit of one opened, and a majestic girl in a uniform stepped out, giving Lin Luo a crisp military salute. "Reporting, Officer! Squad Leader of Special Mobile Task Force Unit 00, Setsuna F Kiyone, reporting!"
"..." Lin Luo was speechless.
Before he could recover, two more girls emerged from the other two Gundams, following the exact same procedure.
"Reporting, Officer! Captain of Special Mobile Task Force Seed Unit, Kira Yamato, reporting!"
"...Lieutenant Commander of Special Mobile Task Force Seed Unit, Athrun, reporting!"
Gundam manga was quite popular in Academy City. For instance, Misaka Mikoto watched it and often lamented that she couldn't travel to the world of Gundam. Similarly, among the nuns, the Amakusa Style members, and the students from Academy City who had arrived in the Bright Realm, quite a few enjoyed watching Gundam.
Hearing the thunderous announcements from the maids, the newcomers were utterly stunned.
"Well, that's how it is for now. These individuals will serve as your guides and bodyguards temporarily. Don't let their appearance fool you; their strength is guaranteed."
Lin Luo was quite stunned himself and felt too weary to offer any witty comeback. After a few perfunctory words, he led Misaka Rei and the others toward the Sky City... He actually wanted to say that these maids would look better cosplaying as Lacus rather than Kira Yamato and the others. At least they were all gender-neutral, wasn't that right?
