Since there was a leek-girl's message left behind in the Amber Tower, it was likely that the other three Wheel Towers also contained similar information. That was what Lin Luo thought, so he decided to continue exploring the remaining Wheel Towers.
While he knew exactly where each tower lay in the game world, reality proved far more complicated. Take the Amber Tower for instance - it deviated from his gaming memories by a universe's worth of distance... Perhaps hyperbole aside, this remained objectively true. To save time, Lin Luo decided to hire a guide. Who better than Anilas, our ever-enthusiastic "Eku" enthusiast?
The monster situation at the Jade Tower had been resolved, and Barts currently lacked urgent assignments. The remaining trivial tasks would naturally fall under new conscripts' responsibilities. Elder Lugran, indebted to Lin Luo's favor, couldn't refuse even if he wanted to - especially since this was framed as a formal mission request falling within the Scouting Division's jurisdiction.
As for Anilas? Just whip out several captain figurines and cute god girl statues, and she'd be cooing "Eku~" in no time.
"Hmm, I can definitely serve as your guide," Anilas nodded thoughtfully before hesitating, "But only for three days at most. The Queen's birthday celebrations require me to prepare at Grancel a month from now."
"No problem. Three days will be sufficient." For ordinary people, covering the distance between these towers in three days would be impossible - it was equivalent to half of Liberl itself! Even first-rate scouts might struggle with such logistics. But for Lin Luo's group? With just a slight "acceleration", they'd make it easily.
Speaking of which, since the Queen's birthday event occurred exactly one month later, that meant the events from the Skyrail saga were only beginning. Little Yua and her companion had just left their hometowns... Should he go bother some villains for fun? The thought barely formed before Lin Luo casually dismissed it.
His purpose here lacked specific goals. With no host body to contend with, there was no need to forcibly interfere in others' life trajectories. If that disgustingly named "Paradise" facility still existed, he might clear it out on a whim - but organizations like the Consortium were entirely unnecessary concerns. After all, saving Liberl naturally fell upon the determined Red Knight Estelle and her future husband Princess Celia. With Estelle's invincible willpower and an equally unyielding father figure, what need had Lin Luo for such endeavors?
Besides, he wasn't exactly idle - at least not with the mischievous daughter of Miku and whoever that unknown madman might be.
With decisions made, Lin Luo immediately had Anilas lead him to the other three Wheel Towers, minimizing wasted time on both sides.
Within three days, Lin Luo visited the Emerald Tower, Crimson Lotus Tower, and Azure Wall Tower. Besides retrieving three shards of the True Four Soul Jewel, no further clues emerged. These jewel fragments were easily acquired for Lin Luo - but for Liberl's native population? They weren't just invisible; even Anilas couldn't perceive them before he physically retrieved each piece.
Though Miku had written that visibility allowed acquisition, apparently she didn't want others taking her treasures so readily. Some modifications on the True Four Soul Jewel made this possible - ultimately benefiting Lin Luo greatly.
Holding four jewel shards in hand, Lin Luo felt an urge to combine them immediately. Yet he delayed action first parting ways with Anilas.
Mission completed and time limit fulfilled, Anilas had to depart. Grateful for her assistance, Lin Luo handed her a cat-shaped bracelet as parting gift. With solemn gravity, he declared: "Anilas, if you ever decide to get married in the future, just let me know - I'll always be available."
"Wa! What an adorable bracelet... Hey wait, what did you say earlier?" Anilas accepted her treasure greedily, but entirely ignored his words.
These days she'd endured Lin Luo's playful teasing about measurements and "Eku" calls. Most girls would blush furiously, or secretly develop romantic feelings - or become enraged. But Anilas, with her carefree nature, treated these as daily jokes. And gradually, she'd learned to effortlessly deflect his shameless antics.
"I meant... you shouldn't marry anyone else but me!" Before Lin Luo could finish speaking, Shinkai had already propelled him into the air - a familiar scenario reminiscent of recent events?
"Disregard his nonsense," Shinkai said bluntly to Anilas. After these few days together, their relationships with Anilas had grown close enough that she couldn't bear watching this pure-hearted girl get corrupted.
Though technically eighteen years old, Anilas' scatterbrained personality made her seem like a fourteen-year-old - basically an adult body with a child's mind.
"Just kidding around," Kagami nodded.
"Don't worry, I won't take his words seriously." As they embraced farewell, Anilas whispered, "Heehee... actually Xiao Lin is pretty good too! Strong and kind and handsome - though he still needs some work to match my prince charming ideals. But he's definitely dream boyfriend material! Though I have no plans for marriage right now..." With that, she stuck out her tongue in embarrassment.
This was bad news - another innocent girl corrupted.
Shinkai felt a wave of despair, utterly unable to comprehend where Lin Luo drew such immense charm from...
Though not denying strength, kindness and handsomeness already constituted lethal attractions for most girls.
"Take care then, Anilas," they said moments later as the group waved goodbye.
"No problem! After all, I am an official scout - though you should look after yourselves too." Anilas smiled broadly before turning toward Lin Luo with a wave. "Xiao Lin, thanks for your gift - I'll keep it close to my heart always. Goodbye!"
Without waiting for responses, she dashed off calling over her shoulder: "Next time you're in Liberl, be sure to contact me!"
"Such an energetic girl," Reia commented smiling at the retreating figure.
"Yes, reminds me of Yunikka. You felt similarly as well?" Fina suddenly recalled the carefree little girl who used to sneak into temples to play with her siblings, later becoming a determined knight searching for her lost family in goddess' search squads. A wistful look crossed her eyes.
Only after Anilas vanished from sight did they return their focus to Lin Luo - now holding out his four True Four Soul Jewel shards.
"Why wait until she left to reconstitute the jewel? Afraid of showing her?" Kagami asked curiously.
"Not deliberately concealing," Lin Luo replied calmly, "Some truths become burdens when known. Explaining would be complicated and unnecessary interference with her life path."
Shinkai gave him a sidelong glance: "Sounds poetic enough, but didn't you just harass her? Didn't that interfere with her life trajectory?"
Lin Luo immediately sweatdropped: "That's entirely different! My teasing wouldn't alter her worldview or life philosophy!"
"But it might affect her romantic ideals!" Shinkai argued fiercely. Her gaze toward Lin Luo suggested she now viewed him as a heartbreaker - writing "wooden sword" across his face.
"If one girl truly insists on marrying me exclusively, what can I do but surrender?" Lin Luo sighed helplessly.
"Tsk." Shinkai clicked her tongue in disgust.
Kagami adopted an air of disapproval: "Brother is clearly emotionally promiscuous."
"This isn't promiscuity - it's simply my loving heart!" Facing their censure, Lin Luo maintained noble demeanor. "You may insult my character, but not my principles!"
"Do you even have principles?" Shinkai asked incredulously as Kagami shook her head in denial. Even Fina and Reia now stared at him with newfound shock - they'd never seen the man exhibit anything resembling "principles" before.
Though to be honest, while these girls found his personality exasperating, it wasn't entirely unappealing. At least he openly admitted to being romantically non-exclusive rather than feigning moral superiority like hypocritical prigs.
"Pfft - principles are renewable resources," Lin Luo muttered dismissively, clearly done with the topic as he placed the shards in his palm for reconstitution.
The Four Soul Jewel naturally possessed fusion capabilities. Though this True version differed slightly from memory (perhaps modified by Miku), its merging function remained intact. When he combined all four shards together, soft light emerged before forming a perfect jade disc.
"Such beauty!" Kagami rushed over delightedly.
Lin Luo smiled broadly - if the jewel belonged to Miku, it would surely contain some trace of her. That leek-girl was playing for too long now; time to capture and "interrogate" her soon...
But just as Lin Luo prepared to sense the completed jewel... It suddenly shattered with a sharp crack!
"This is..." Lin Luo's smile instantly froze.
His energy was being rejected! The jewel completely repelled any penetration of his power!
