The Fatty grunted, "Everyone out quickly now, and haul that statue platform into the cavern. My estimation is that the ancients weren't skilled enough to completely pulverize a concrete pillar."
Seeing the tomb wall about to seal shut, those outside hesitated. What if they stepped out and the wall closed just then? Wouldn't they be trapped outside to die?
The Fatty noticed the few men frozen in place and cursed, "Damn it, what time is it? Hurry up, or it’ll truly be too late. If you don't get out now, I'll start shooting." With that, he fired two shots toward the opening. The sound echoed and swirled inside the tomb, ringing in everyone's ears, truly startling the Company Commander and the others outside.
The Company Commander quickly said, "Alright, alright, let’s move it. If that concrete platform isn't brought in, they won't survive either. Let's go, fast." With that, he shoved and pushed the few men outside out the entrance.
Seeing those men gone, the Fatty let out a heavy sigh and said, "Do you think what I just did was a bit despicable?"
Lu Zong replied, "Not despicable, not even a little. Let's go."
Ma Xiong stated that the road of revolution always demanded the sacrifice of a few lives, and if anyone was to blame, it was only their parents for not giving birth to them more cleverly. With that, he slammed the heavy outer gate shut, producing a dull, heavy thud.
It seemed they had heard the sound and looked back, only then realizing the gate had closed. They immediately shouted, "What the hell, Fatty, you goddamn dare to play me!"
Then came the sound of machine-gun fire, a rain of bullets striking the concrete slab. He also heard the sound of crowbars, but the slab was simply too thick and too hard; it had no effect whatsoever.
Before long, their wails drifted in from outside. The Fatty said, "Let’s go; listening to it makes my conscience heavy."
Lu Zong comforted the Fatty, "There's nothing to feel guilty about. Haven't they always hoped we’d finish off first? Today they got their wish; this is called reaping what you sow."
Ma Xiong pulled a note from his pocket and handed it to the Fatty. "Fatty, I really didn't expect you to be this ruthless, using a note to pull this off. Did you write too many notes to girls when you were young?"
At that moment, the others also pulled out notes from their pockets one by one and handed them to the Fatty, saying, "You're something else! Weren't you afraid he'd catch you? By the way, when did you write this?"
The Fatty said mysteriously, "That’s something you all don't need to know. Knowing it won't do you any good."
Lu Zong impatiently snapped, "If you won't tell us, then don't. You’ve already pulled off a trick right under his nose; you've kept so many secrets from us, do you really care about this little bit?"
The Fatty wore an expression of grievance, looking at their puzzled faces, and said, "I'm doing what’s best for you too. Knowing too much is bad for anyone, but I promise you all, you will know eventually."
Lu Zong's face showed a hint of anger: "Are you telling us this is our business or yours? I feel like you're getting increasingly strange."
The Fatty declared, "Absolutely not, I can't tell you. If I tell you, our chances of survival will shrink drastically." Then he glanced at the Ge Mei sisters and added, "You two don't need to be afraid; this has nothing to do with you. It's all because of that tomb we raided last time, where that queen framed us."
Lu Zong seemed to have a sudden realization and asked, "Could this be related to the Queen’s curse?"
The Fatty nodded yes. "We'll talk about that later; let's hurry and leave."
A moment later, the roar of a wild beast drifted in from outside, like an enraged leopard desperately tearing into the prey it had finally caught up to. The soldiers’ heart-rending screams stabbed into the Fatty's heart like knives. The Fatty frowned and couldn't help but sigh, "This is life; it’s so damn fragile. Luckily, I protected myself better; otherwise, I’d have met the same fate."
The Fatty told them mysteriously, "Now it's settled. That thing has probably eaten a few people and won't bother us anymore. We can leave in peace."
But Ma Xiong couldn't shake the feeling that the thing wouldn't let them off easily, so he said, "Fatty, I'm still uneasy; that thing will definitely catch up to us again."
Following the pitch-black passage, Lu Zong also felt a deep hollowness in his chest, saying, "Yeah, Fatty, I keep feeling like the Company Commander is right beside me, screaming how miserably I died."
The Fatty quickly tried to rally them, "Everyone hold your breath now and don't think about anything. Just imagine you are walking through a castle, surrounded by beautiful walls and lovely children's toys."
Ma Xiong asked, "Can I imagine beautiful women instead?"
The Fatty nodded, "You can."
Suddenly, the Fatty felt his foot slip. He quickly looked down and sucked in a sharp breath. On the ground, a python as thick as an arm was hissing and flicking its tongue at him. He had just stepped on the snake's round body. Now it was aggressively lunging toward him. He immediately yelled for everyone to stop and cursed, "Damn it, who the hell was daydreaming again?"
With that, he drew his dagger from his pocket, crouched low, bent his back, leaned forward, and prepared meticulously to grab the large snake. The great snake, seeing the dagger in the Fatty’s hand, instantly became aggressive, arched its back, and then shot forward rapidly.
The Fatty quickly stood up, reaching with his right hand for the snake's neck, but the snake deftly dodged. Then its neck twisted back again.
After that false alarm, the Fatty was so scared he almost wet himself. He looked at the snake, which seemed ready to launch a second attack, but it suddenly relaxed. He tucked the dagger into his belt, calmly stood up, reached into his back pocket, pulled out a gun, and fired twice—pa-pa. The bullets lodged firmly inside the snake’s body.
The great snake thrashed twice on the ground and died. The Fatty blew the smoke from the muzzle and remarked, "Damn, high-tech is still superior."
The others laughed awkwardly.
The Fatty’s face turned serious. He looked at them and demanded, "Who the hell was spaced out just now? Why weren't you listening?"
Lu Zong shook his head and said, "No, I was still imagining I was walking on a country path and ran into a village girl."
Ma Xiong also waved his hand dismissively, "Not me; I was at a bathhouse."
The Fatty's gaze naturally fell upon the two young women. To his surprise, when their eyes met his, they became somewhat frightened, their bodies trembling slightly.
The Fatty’s expression darkened even more; he stared at the two women in disbelief. Suddenly, he grabbed Ge Mei, yanked up her sleeve, and saw a clear, blood-red handprint stamped clearly on her arm, identical to the one on Han Chong.
