Lin Luo could not comprehend why Yakumo Yukari had tossed Patchouli and Hong Meiling over to him, and at the same time, he felt a strange sense about the Scarlet Devil Mansion group—even the Second Miss had been released, yet neither Muq nor China were visible. However, the moment he observed the physical condition of the two girls, he immediately understood.
To be honest, their injuries were severe, reaching a critical point where life hung by a thread. Though outwardly subtle, over ninety percent of their internal life functions had been destroyed, and the injuries had persisted for more than an hour. Under normal circumstances, surviving such wounds was impossible; the only reason they were still alive was the protection afforded by a power of absolute zero.
Lin Luo had managed to piece together some understanding of the battle that occurred at the Scarlet Devil Mansion through his conversation with the Evil King in five-dimensional space. But judging by the current state of affairs, the devastation far exceeded his imagination. He was immensely grateful that he had summoned Evangeline beforehand; otherwise, the regret would have been immeasurable.
Divine Heal activated, bathing the two girls in a gentle radiance. The power of absolute zero was instantly eradicated, and their bodies, previously in a state of necrosis, gradually began to recover, quickly reigniting their vitality… In the past, Lin Luo hadn't given it much thought, but now he increasingly felt that Divine Heal was an impossibly bugged ability. Regardless of whether it was a human or a youkai, as long as they possessed the nature of life, no matter how grave the injury, even down to a single ragged breath, Divine Heal could save them.
Excluding the inability to resurrect the dead, in a sense, the sheer potency of this ability surpassed even Creation. Furthermore, it was slated to advance. If it reached its apex, perhaps he could even achieve true resurrection…
Wait!
Suddenly, Lin Luo was struck by a thought—something that had always existed but he had never truly contemplated.
The essence of Divine Heal lay in restoration: from surface-level repair to pinpoint precision, from coarse mending to exquisite refinement. It could fix the physical body, the spirit, and even the soul. But the core of repair is replacing what has been lost. In that sense, wasn't this also a form of Creation?
From the very beginning, Divine Heal could be used synergistically with the laws of Creation. Creation could enhance the effect of Healing, and Healing could allow Creation to manifest effects in the domain of life. If so, then the supposed resurrection was equivalent to the creation of life?!
The power of Creation acted upon the existing matter of this world, while the power of Healing acted upon life. Matter and life combined—that meant… everything!
The world is composed of these two elements: the living and the non-living. Disregarding the composition of life itself, every non-living thing is made of matter. A house is a conglomerate of earth, a table is a composite of wood, a blade is forged from iron—the ultimate origin of all these is the matter naturally present in the world.
Yes, if he could perfectly integrate these two powers, his strength could attain the domain of "Everything"!
It is common knowledge that Creation is far more difficult than Destruction, whether dealing with life or any other entity. Yet, his Creation was weaker than his Destruction, which simply didn't feel right. Could it be that his Creation was incomplete? Perhaps… the Creation capable of reaching the domain of "Everything" is the true Creation!
Creating the heavens, creating the earth, even… creating a world—these are the powers of the gods!
And the intensity of Creation didn't stop there. Back in the A Certain Magical Index plane, when Lily was on the verge of vanishing, he used Creation to pull her from fantasy into reality, granting her a tether to existence. And that tether could link to existence itself—meaning… Creation of Existence?!
Astonishing! Thinking this far sent a chill of fear through Lin Luo himself. If his speculation was true, he would truly become omnipotent!
So, was this the reason the Proxy Gods feared him?
"What are you thinking about? Has merely this much contact already sent your mind wandering?" Just then, Lin Luo heard Yakumo Yukari's voice beside his ear. Snapping out of his thoughts, he saw Yukari gazing at him with a sly smile. The other girls wore various expressions: some sneered, some blushed, some remained impassive, some watched with alert vigilance, while others observed the spectacle with intense focus.
Lin Luo was momentarily bewildered. But when he felt the softness beneath his hands, he instinctively looked down and understood the situation… Because he had been completely absorbed in his thoughts, he had forgotten that he was mid-treatment, his hands still resting on Patchouli and Hong Meiling’s bodies, and quite unfortunately, positioned directly on their chests.
Damn it, my hands weren't there a moment ago!
Lin Luo felt an intense wave of awkwardness and snatched his hands back with lightning speed, offering a sheepish smile to the scrutinizing eyes around him. "Uh… I was just thinking about something and lost track of what I was doing. It was just a misunderstanding, truly."
Though Lin Luo’s plea was sincere, not a single person believed him. Even Ruri-Glitched wore a complex expression, clearly unmoved by his explanation. This left Lin Luo deeply conflicted. Indeed, in this world, lies always seemed more plausible than the truth.
Fortunately, although the girls expressed their disdain or scorn, they didn't escalate the incident, especially since Patchouli and Hong Meiling were now fully restored. Saving two near-dead girls in such a short span surprised those among them who were unfamiliar with Lin Luo's capabilities.
While their bodies were completely healed, Patchouli and Hong Meiling's consciousnesses had not fully returned; they were somewhat dazed, unaware that Lin Luo had taken liberties. Upon regaining awareness, the two girls immediately sprang up from the ground, their faces stern and alert, their minds clearly still fixed on the moment they were injured.
After a briefing from Sakuya, they learned that the war was over, the formidable enemy had been driven off, and the Scarlet Devil Mansion remained unharmed. Only then did they fully relax. Upon learning that Lin Luo had saved them, they offered him their sincere thanks.
"Well, now that things are over, shouldn't we hold a celebration in the Gensokyo style?" A moment later, Kaguya suddenly suggested with a smile. Though her resurrection had been somewhat unorthodox, her memories remained intact, and her intellect was unchanged.
A Gensokyo-style celebration, of course, meant a feast.
"Ah! You are…" The others were no longer surprised by Kaguya's new form, but Patchouli and Hong Meiling were seeing it for the first time. Their eyes widened, and upon learning that this little girl was Kaguya, they scrutinized her from head to toe in utter disbelief.
"Oh well, let's not worry about the details. Let's all go celebrate!" Yuyuko covered her mouth with her fan and smiled at Patchouli and Hong Meiling. After fighting for so long, the great eater was starving. If anyone looked forward to the upcoming feast the most, it was undoubtedly her.
"We might even have Dragon Cuisine! There will definitely be Dragon Cuisine, right?" Before anyone could respond, Yuyuko turned eagerly to Lin Luo, her face alight with anticipation.
Lin Luo felt immense pressure.
"A feast is fine, but what about those two?" Sanae pointed upward. In the sky, Remilia and Marisa were still locked in combat.
"They won't die anyway, so let them fight," Aya Shameimaru laughed heartily.
"Then where should the banquet be held? It seems difficult to host at Eientei?" Reisen frowned. Eientei had been destroyed in this battle. While repair wouldn't be terribly difficult, it wouldn't be manageable in the short term, which worried her, as historically, she always ended up taking the lion's share of such tiring and arduous work.
"Is that even a question? Of course, it should be at the Hakurei Shrine," Yakumo Yukari smiled.
"Hah! Why at my shrine?" Reimu's eyebrows immediately shot up as she retorted, "You lot never bother to clean up after the banquets, and the aftermath always falls to me! I won't let you cause chaos in my shrine this time!"
"Objection overruled." Yukari finished, pulled open a gap, and vanished before everyone’s eyes, seemingly already heading for the Hakurei Shrine.
"Oh! A feast, a feast! Everyone… gather at the Hakurei Shrine!" Suika threw her arms wide and shouted excitedly before sprinting toward the shrine.
"Don't just decide things unilaterally, you rotten watermelon!" Reimu cursed immediately, chasing after her. But she knew opposing it now was useless; once Suika activated her crowd-gathering ability, others would follow even if they didn't want to go.
And so, the large group marched towards the Hakurei Shrine.
Lin Luo and his party lagged behind. Although the full-scale war in Gensokyo had ended, and the Evil King had departed this world via the Starlight Avenue, he couldn't shake the feeling that things wouldn't conclude so easily. After all, the Dark King had yet to show himself, which subtly bothered him.
"It really is over now."
"Hmm?" Hearing this, Lin Luo instinctively looked to his side and found Kaguya walking alongside him.
"At least for Gensokyo, it's over, isn't it?" Kaguya said with a slight smile.
"I suppose so," Lin Luo shrugged. Indeed, for Gensokyo, this incident was resolved, which was why they could be so relaxed and joyful.
"Oh, one more thing."
"What is it?"
"Hehe." Kaguya chuckled softly, but instead of answering, she held up two fingers and wiggled them in front of Lin Luo's eyes. Before he could react, she had already run ahead.
"..." Lin Luo was somewhat puzzled. Suddenly remembering something, he took out the five Night Sky Orbs from his storage space, only to find that two of them were emitting a brilliant glow.
Two of the five great riddles had been solved!
"Two already? That's surprisingly not easy…" Lin Luo murmured, stunned. Unknowingly, he had solved two. Though the pace wasn't slow, he genuinely didn't recall when he had managed to unlock them.
"Never mind. Let’s go join the banquet too," Lin Luo said to Evangeline and the others after putting the Night Sky Orbs away again.
The five great riddles—no need to force them; just let things happen naturally.
