The silver greatsword, imbued with holy power, possessed an absolute annihilating force against vampires, much like rats meeting a cat—they could only flee, never resist. This was why Remilia could not break out from Patchouli’s absolute defense; one touch from that sword and she would die… or so it should have been.
But the berserk Remilia was a different entity entirely. She charged directly at the silver greatsword, the spear Gungnir instantly taking shape in her hand, thrusting forward.
Clang! A sharp crack echoed. In a flash of lightning, the silver greatsword's attack was blocked, its edge deflected.
“Ah!!”
Giving her opponent no quarter, the demon roared. Gungnir struck again, the spear tip, radiating a mist of red, heavily impacting the sword's surface. With a distinct crack, a fissure appeared on the silver greatsword.
“Shatter!” Remilia snarled through gritted teeth, channeling her berserk power through Gungnir.
Boom!
Amidst a deafening explosion, the silver longsword was instantly pulverized.
Swish!
At that very moment, a silver-haired man dressed in silver materialized at the hilt, retreating rapidly. He clutched the hilt, his expression stunned, seemingly unable to believe Remilia had shattered his sword in a single blow.
Seeing the man’s figure, a flash of realization crossed Remilia’s blood-red eyes. She sensed that the holy power hadn't originated from the sword, but from the man before her. Without hesitation, embracing the idea of striking while the enemy was weak, Remilia transformed into a streak of red lightning, Gungnir aimed directly for his heart.
Remilia’s perception was correct. This silver-haired man was not human; he was, in essence, a manifestation of the Church's faith—a kind of "deity" for Gensokyo in some respects, specifically designed to slay vampires. He could integrate his power into any weapon, granting it autonomous movement, multiplying its attack and speed exponentially. Furthermore, any weapon imbued with his holy power became a bane to vampires.
“Damn it!” Seeing Remilia charge, the silver-haired man let out an irritated cold snort, dissolving into a silver flash and fleeing into the distance. Though he could manifest physically, without his weapon, he could not defeat Remilia and could only run.
Her strike missed, but Remilia did not pursue. Instead, she redirected her spear, attacking the others. Gungnir was hurled, striking the mage who had trapped Sakuya. Spreading her hands, two circular halos appeared above her black wings, unleashing a barrage of danmaku toward the black-robed man attacking Flandre mentally, while she herself rushed toward the white-haired man who had felled Hong Meiling.
Remilia intended to take on three opponents at once!
“A potential burst, eh? Hmph!” The white-haired man scoffed and initiated the attack. Remilia’s rampage had been too sudden; from her roar to repelling the silver greatsword had only taken an instant, and he was the fastest to react.
Although he intended to finish off the two downed casualties, they had lost their combat capability and could be ignored for the moment. Remilia, however, posed an immediate threat and had to be eliminated first!
Bang! Bang! Bang…
The two clashed in a blur of light and fire, exchanging over a dozen moves in less than a second. Remilia’s physical attacks were already formidable, and in her berserk state, her power had reached the Earth Rank. In her fury, she struck without mercy, each blow capable of shaking the heavens and earth, yet even so, she was only meeting her opponent blow for blow… because he, too, was Earth Rank!
In truth, while the silver-haired man was an incomplete Earth Rank, the other four were fully realized Earth Rank powerhouses. Otherwise, the Scarlet Devil Mansion's forces could not have been suppressed so easily.
While Remilia fought the white-haired man, on the other side, the mage who had trapped Sakuya in a higher-dimensional space faced Gungnir’s swift assault. The spear Gungnir, once thrown, would not stop until it struck its target. Thrown with Earth Rank power, even an expert of the same rank would need to evade.
Although the mage possessed the ability to create higher-dimensional spaces, he could only maintain one at a time. Forced into a corner, the mage had no choice but to cease pressuring Sakuya and evade Gungnir’s relentless pursuit.
Freed from the mage’s suppression, Sakuya, though still unable to escape the higher-dimensional space, found her situation considerably eased as she desperately sought a way to break free.
And the black-robed man assaulting Flandre mentally was forced to halt his efforts against the massive wave of danmaku unleashed by Remilia, turning to attack her instead. While dodging the barrage, mysterious and inscrutable mental shockwaves surged towards Remilia like the tide.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Remilia’s brow furrowed deeply. It felt as if a massive hammer was pounding inside her skull, causing debilitating pain that made her want to smash her own head. This agony prevented her from concentrating on combat. She had to dedicate the majority of her attention to the danmaku and attacking the black-robed man, yet she found herself at a disadvantage against the white-haired man’s attacks, struggling fiercely with every exchange.
Swish!
Suddenly, a black light flashed from the void, aimed directly at Remilia’s neck.
“It’s you, the one who stabbed Patchy!” Despite being locked in a grueling struggle, Remilia possessed exceptional awareness, missing nothing in her surroundings. She had not forgotten the five experts among the enemy, especially the black assassin who had grievously wounded Patchouli.
As the black light sped toward her, Remilia ignored the white-haired man’s assault, enduring a punch from him to absorb the pain. With lightning speed, she lashed out, firmly grasping the black light, her sharp claws aimed at the assassin’s heart.
Szltt!
What defined an assassin? Landing a decisive blow, striking, and vanishing instantly—that was an assassin.
An Earth Rank assassin could not be killed so easily. The moment Remilia seized his longsword, he decisively retreated. Nevertheless, a large chunk of flesh was ripped from his chest.
Stimulated by the sight of blood, Remilia became even more ferocious. In a roaring frenzy, she unleashed her full complement of danmaku; the force of her attacks was terrifyingly fierce, each one sounding like it was shattering space with colossal rumbles.
The white-haired man and the assassin were immediately suppressed, left with only the ability to defend.
“Don't underestimate her!” Just then, the mage, who had been dodging Gungnir, charged in and unleashed a Spatial Severance spell directly at Remilia.
“Ugh!” Remilia gasped in pain. She felt her body sliced in half, the immense agony causing her movements to freeze.
“This pain… is nothing compared to my rage!” Just as the two opponents prepared to deliver a killing blow, Remilia roared toward the sky, using sheer dominant power to forcefully reassemble her body. Her overwhelming attack swept the mage into the fray as well.
Whoosh!
Fighting four opponents was already exhausting Remilia to the limit, but before she could even adjust, a sound of tearing air came from behind her, carrying divine power.
Glancing with the corner of her eye, she saw a silver longsword hurtling toward her throat.
“Come on, come on! I’ll kill all of you!” Amidst a bloodthirsty and violent howl, the two red wings on Remilia’s back erupted with terrifying pressure, blasting towards the silver longsword.
Fighting five opponents—the Red Devil proved her title without question!
…The Five-Dimensional Space.
Lin Luo and the Evil King had been battling here for several minutes. The Evil King’s strength was indeed unmatched among the Walkers; every strike put immense pressure on Lin Luo, making him feel as if he brushed past death every second. Even using his full strength, he was still at a disadvantage, but… he still couldn't match Yakumo Yukari and Kazami Yuuka!
“Hah!”
The Strongest Spear was thrown, whipping up a massive spatial storm that cleaved the ocean in two instantly.
“Useless!” The Evil King laughed heartily, stabbing his black spear forward. The Strongest Spear was instantly blasted away, and the Evil King surged forward. “You are beneath me, and your world is beneath me. Now that I have descended upon this world with dozens of Earth Rank experts, you have no chance of survival!”
“Dozens of Earth Rank experts?” Lin Luo sneered. Drawing his tachi from the void, he swung it sharply forward; a crescent-shaped wave of white light, like a galaxy pouring down, slashed toward the Evil King. “Don't look down on Gensokyo, you will regret this!”
“Hah hah, mere Gensokyo! I have already seized the advantage of time and terrain. Five Earth Rank experts are already assaulting the Scarlet Devil Mansion; they will be completely annihilated within ten minutes with no reinforcements!” The Evil King roared with laughter, unleashing a punch that instantly shattered the crescent of white light.
“No reinforcements? Do you truly believe that?”
“Hmm?”
“One person can be killed in a second; a city can be wiped out in a minute; in one night, I can do everything within my power!” Lin Luo roared as he charged forward with his sword. “You will possess none of the advantages of time, terrain, or camaraderie!”
“Kill you, and everything will be mine!” The Evil King howled, thrusting his black spear forward.
…
Although Remilia had become stronger—incredibly so—facing five experts of the same rank, even with godlike power, victory was impossible. After several minutes, she was completely overwhelmed. Her body had been reformed countless times. She was waiting for Sakuya to break free, waiting for Flandre to awaken, but… for now, she could only fight alone.
Even two fists are no match for four hands. The despair in Remilia’s heart grew deeper.
“Damn it!” Remilia roared, though her heart was screaming a lament. Reinforcements! She needed reinforcements! She needed partners, not for herself, but for the entire Scarlet Devil Mansion. If only someone could help her protect the mansion, she would cast aside all her pride.
But it was only a vain hope. There were truly no reinforcements coming.
Watching the silver greatsword pierce toward her throat, Remilia offered a bitter smile and closed her eyes to await death. She knew it was over; her body, reformed more than ten times, had no hope left for regeneration.
“Giving up already? That’s too soon.”
Just then, she heard a young girl’s voice.
Remilia snapped her eyes open. The silver greatsword was now held firmly in someone’s hand—a golden-haired girl, about ten years old, appearing to be almost the same age as Remilia.
“Waiting is a very tiring endeavor, don't you think?”
The girl flashed a grin, instantly crushing the silver greatsword, and then raised her hand.
“Rikurakukurakurakurai-rakura… Eternal Darkness, Eternal Glacier!” R-O
