Each time the fledglings hatched, a massive python would emerge from the temple grounds and devour them. This continued for three years, the same pattern repeating annually.

In the fourth year, the storks returned, but this time they were accompanied by a colossal bird, powerfully built and radiating an awe-inspiring majesty. Soon after, the two young storks were born, and the giant python once again came to harass them. At that very moment, the great bird let out a furious cry, unfurling its wings to blot out the sun and sky. Its movements were like the wind; it dove from above, swift as a sudden storm, its talons extended, seizing the snake’s head in a vice-like grip. With a violent wrench, a sharp crack echoed, the skull shattered, and the serpent's head fell to the ground.

The great bird slew the python and soared away, the storks following in escort until they had traveled a great distance before finally returning.
