In the sixth month of the Dinghai year, when the heat was stifling in Suzhou, an extraordinary heavy snow suddenly began to fall. The local populace grew anxious and alarmed, flocking to the Great King Temple to offer prayers, beseeching, "May the Spirit Lord command this snowfall to cease." The divine statue within the temple seemed displeased, retorting, "Nowadays, when addressing officials, the prefix 'Great' is always appended. Am I, being a minor deity, unworthy of that grand title?"

A hush of genuine terror fell over the crowd. They swiftly altered their address, calling out in unison, "Great Lord!" As the final syllable left their lips, the torrent of snow vanished entirely from the sky.
