When Huang Jingnan was young, he once journeyed to the capital with two scholars to sit for the imperial examination. Halfway there, they encountered bandits. The two scholars, timid and easily frightened, immediately offered up their travel money and begged for mercy on their knees.
Huang Jingnan was furious. He carried no weapon, only a mule. After a brief moment of thought, he let out a great roar, gripped the mule's hind legs with both arms, and with a sudden burst of divine strength, hoisted the beast high and hurled it down upon the bandits.
The bandits were taken completely by surprise, sent tumbling to the ground, men and beast together.
Huang Jingnan still felt no satisfaction.
He shot forward in a single stride, his fists striking left and right, brutally snapping both of the main bandit's arms. He retrieved the travel funds and returned them to the scholars.
The scholars were both grateful and awestruck. They offered a portion of the recovered money to Huang, urging him to join the military. Later, Huang Jingnan did indeed enlist, rising through the ranks, achieving repeated merits, and eventually becoming a General, adorned in the python robe and fastened with a jade belt, his status illustrious.
