The collision of Lin Luo’s and the Creator’s thrones shook the wilderness, piercing the heavens. While perhaps not quite reaching the whole world, every resident of New Ostia heard it clearly, and the immense sound continued to spread outward, eliciting expressions of stunned bewilderment from everyone who heard it... After all, neither of their thrones was an ordinary city; one was the product of combining magic from two eras, and the other was a miracle artifact possessing absolute defense against anything below the Earth Tier.
The resulting shockwave from the collision of these two entities was akin to a world-encompassing recognition spell, capable of resonating with most magical sanctuaries.
Under their control, the Gravedigger’s Palace and the Floating City smashed into each other once more, only to be violently repelled several dozen li away amidst a sound that broke the sky... Such an effect would not occur from a purely physical impact, but the Gravedigger’s Palace had been overlaid with a magical shield by the Creator, granting it a certain degree of rebound.
When compared directly, the sturdiness of the Gravedigger’s Palace could not match the Floating City. No matter how miraculous the Creator’s magic, it could not achieve absolute defense. If they had met head-on, the Gravedigger’s Palace would have been the first to falter. The Creator clearly knew this, and to successfully strike down the Floating City, she had to employ special defenses using her own power.
Of course, the Floating City's absolute defense wasn't truly absolute; it could only neutralize power up to the peak of the Spirit Tier. Once the force reached the Earth Tier, it would fail. Since the Creator was an Earth Tier expert—even if the power manifested through her current physique wasn't true Earth Tier strength—it carried traces of Earth Tier might, enough to breach the Floating City’s defenses.
At the start of the clash between the two thrones, the Gravedigger’s Palace was at a disadvantage, continually forced back by the Floating City’s assaults. But once the Creator gained some understanding of the Floating City, she counterattacked, successfully suppressing it.
With every impact, besides the earth-shattering noise, countless shards of stone rained down from above. Where these shards struck the ground, they caused absolute destruction. Fortunately, there weren't many thriving ecosystems below; the few magical beasts and animals had long since fled far away, or the devastation would have been truly widespread.
Boom! Boom!! Boom!!!
From above, thunderous noises rang out repeatedly, the colossal impact causing even space itself to tremble. The Gravedigger’s Palace had completely suppressed the Floating City, driving it backward time and again.
Damn, this won't do if it keeps going like this.
Lin Luo frowned immediately. In terms of control, he truly was inferior to the Creator; after all, she had resided within the Gravedigger’s Palace for over a thousand years and understood it intimately, whereas he hadn't even managed half a year. While he could command the Floating City as if it were his own limb, when fighting like this, he could conceive of no better method than a brute-force collision.
Wait, if all I know is how to ram, why not try ramming from a different angle!
Suddenly, Lin Luo’s eyes lit up, a smile touching his lips. In an instant, he appeared atop the Floating City, then directed it to rapidly ascend, dodging the Gravedigger’s Palace’s charge at the very last moment. Immediately following this, the Floating City smashed downward with tremendous force—Boom!
The Gravedigger’s Palace shuddered violently and began to plummet, nearly slamming into the ground due to its own rebound magic.
“Again!”
Lin Luo would certainly not abandon such a perfect opportunity. The Floating City pressed down once more, launching a fierce assault on the Gravedigger’s Palace. However, the Creator was an experienced veteran. Having suffered a significant loss to Lin Luo just moments ago, she wouldn't be easily tricked now. She swiftly maneuvered her throne to evade, then arrived above the Floating City at an even greater speed.
“Hmph, mere tricks. If you want to play games, I know more variations than you do.” At this moment, an immensely vast figure materialized in the void behind the Gravedigger’s Palace. It was a mature figure resembling Evangeline at six or seven years old, strikingly beautiful, though her expression held more worldly wisdom and seasoned composure than Evangeline's. This was the Creator herself.
Lin Luo was unsurprised. He knew it was merely a projection spell, magnifying the Creator's body infinitely within the illusion—a technique he also knew.
The next instant, a mountain-sized figure appeared behind the Floating City—it was Lin Luo himself.
Then the two thrones collided again, a scene resembling two giants battling with toy models.
“You’re still lacking! Ram it into me!” the Creator shouted with a bright, excited smile, pointing her hand forward. Immediately, the Gravedigger’s Palace crashed down toward the Floating City, scattering the very air around them.
“I won’t let you succeed so easily,” Lin Luo retorted with a wry smile, making the Floating City fly upward at incredible speed, the whistling wind sounding like the cry of a hawk.
“Trying to seize the high ground? Not so easy!” The Creator snorted, likewise lifting the Gravedigger’s Palace upward. Lin Luo stayed right on her tail, ascending again...
What they were now fighting over was tactical advantage; whoever occupied the higher position would gain a greater edge. Thus, neither side would easily yield this superior altitude, and both ascended at their maximum speeds. In moments, they were over ten thousand meters above the ground.
“Oh dear, I can’t see them anymore!” Suilingyin exclaimed from the airship. The location of Lin Luo and the Creator had exceeded the effective range of her monitors; nothing remained but empty sky.
“Those two… have they fought their way into outer space?” Lakan narrowed his eyes, straining to hear even a whisper of collision, causing him to wonder aloud.
“Surely not…” the others muttered, feeling the absurdity. No matter how exaggerated the battle, they couldn't possibly be fighting beyond the atmosphere. Did gravity cease to exist? Mars wasn't made of paper either.
But they were unaware that Lin Luo and the Creator had, in fact, already reached outer space.
Although they initially fought at the edge of space for a while due to gravitational forces, as the battle raged, they unwittingly dispersed the nearby gravity layer. Released from gravity's hold, after their next collision, they were immediately ejected from the magical world and found themselves adrift in the cosmic void.
“Heh heh,” Seeing Lin Luo’s bewildered expression, the Creator laughed happily. “I didn't expect things to escalate to a place like this. But in this scenario, you have no chance of winning. I subsist on magic, whereas you humans die without oxygen. It seems I can’t possibly let you have my daughter.”
“Are you joking? Mere vacuum poses no threat to me.” Lin Luo shot her a look of contempt. He had faced vacuums far stronger than this, and now, with his Rule of Creation operating at one hundred percent, he feared nothing. “Oxygen and things like that? I can generate as much as I want. And... your daughter is already mine, but I certainly won't be calling you 'Mother-in-law'!”
The Creator’s brow twitched sharply; Lin Luo’s comment clearly angered her, causing a terrifying smile to bloom on her face. “Not bad at all. To have violated my daughter’s body without first obtaining my consent—is that how you gained power equal to mine in such a short time? Heh heh, it looks like I need to teach you a proper lesson.”
The Creator’s eyes hardened, and the Gravedigger’s Palace lunged toward Lin Luo once more. Although this environment was a vacuum, for these two, it made little difference from their previous battlefield.
“Nonsense. She is my woman; why would I need your permission to claim her body?” Lin Luo grumbled slightly, thankful they were in outer space. If they were below, he probably wouldn't have dared to say that.
Facing the rapidly approaching Gravedigger’s Palace, Lin Luo chose not to evade this time, but met it head-on. Since gravity was gone in the vacuum, contesting altitude was now meaningless; victory would only be determined by raw strength.
In a vacuum, sound cannot propagate, and the debris that fell now simply floated around them. The pristine environment had become a shambles after several impacts. Their hands never ceased their work, nor did their mouths their verbal sparring. As their thrones collided, their war of words intensified.
“Just surrender obediently! You cannot defeat me in this universe!”
“Dream on! Haven’t you noticed I’ve been gaining the upper hand?”
“Hmph, I am merely holding back out of respect for you being my prospective son-in-law.”
“Stop being narcissistic. Even as the Creator, your morals are far worse than they used to be.”
“Are you saying... I’d be better suited to being a man?!”
“You said it yourself.”
“...Ram him!”
“...Block it!”
They fought and cursed, and an unknown amount of time passed. They had completely left the magical world behind, engaging in a ferocious battle within the void of space. Countless satellites in their path became collateral damage, destroyed by their attacks.
No one knew how long this battle lasted—from the magical world to outer space, from outer space to the cosmos, then back to outer space, before tearing through the gravity layer with a chrrr and plunging back into the magical world. Only when the familiar sound of impact reached their ears again did they realize the fight had gone on a little too long; both were slightly breathless.
“Our power must have reached its limit. The rest of the journey back to the ruined capital will be our final battle!” the Creator roared, and the Gravedigger’s Palace moved again.
“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you. After all, you’re my woman’s mother,” Lin Luo provoked, perhaps intentionally, as the Floating City spun and charged.
“Hmph, big talk!” The Creator scoffed, pushing her gravity reversal magic to its maximum, and crashed in again!
...
“Ah, they’re back!” In the airship, illuminated by bright lights under the night sky, the moment the clock struck midnight, the figures of Lin Luo and the Creator reappeared on the screen. Both were still locked in the state of their previous engagement, but their expressions looked somewhat drained, and their two great cities had shrunk by at least a few sizes, entirely lacking their initial imposing aura.
“It seems it’s nearly over,” one observed.
“Indeed, it’s been going on for over ten hours now,” another added.
The assembled group exchanged glances, feeling that this battle had been packed with more questionable elements than they could count.
