The six of them moved with incredible speed, shooting out of Ostia in the blink of an eye. Yet, the first to engage the Divine Spirit Soldiers wasn't Lin Luo, who possessed the power of rules that allowed for shortcuts, but rather La Khan, the 'bug man' with the highest physical defense. It had to be said that having him lead the charge was perfectly suited.
Reaching a Divine Spirit Soldier in a flash, before even settling his stance, he unleashed a devastating punch. Facing opponents of the Divine Spirit Soldier's caliber, especially in such numbers, there was no room for holding back. La Khan immediately exerted his full strength; his double fists, capable of cleaving mountains and shattering seas, struck the chest of the Divine Spirit Soldier before him.
"La Khan Ten Thousand Fists!"
Bang!
Amidst a sound of world-shaking impact, the towering figure, over twenty meters tall, seemed like mere paper as it was blasted away by a single punch. It crashed into several other Divine Spirit Soldiers behind it, knocking them down. Without pausing, La Khan surged toward another nearby soldier, hoisting its massive leg with both arms, leveraging his stance, and violently hurling it toward the sky.
"Arhat... Sky Toss!"
Boom!
Unbelievable—a body barely two meters tall had hoisted the gigantic Divine Spirit Soldier upside down and flung it away as if tossing trash. The soldier spun wildly in the air, sweeping down and taking down another large contingent, clearing the area around La Khan in an instant.
"Are they all gone?" La Khan flexed his muscles like a powerful giant, shouting loudly.
"You flexing dumbbell, are you blind?" Evangeline hissed a scornful retort.
La Khan paused slightly, then noticed that although he had knocked down a dozen Divine Spirit Soldiers, save for the one directly hit by his heavy blow, the others hadn't sustained critical damage and were quickly scrambling back up.
"It really isn't that simple, then. Let's do it again!" Under the scornful glances of those behind him, La Khan charged forward once more. He didn't use his contracted item; bare-handed, for that was when he was strongest.
Immediately afterward, a continuous series of earth-shattering roars erupted in the field. The scene resembled the heavens collapsing and the earth splitting as one Divine Spirit Soldier after another was punched flying—he was truly a human nuclear bomb.
"The guy has gotten serious. We can't fall behind," Al murmured with a slight smile, soaring into the sky in an instant. He stretched both hands forward, and immense magical energy began to coalesce within his palms.
Soon, a massive black sphere materialized beneath his hands, which he then gently pressed down. "Greater Gravity Crush Bla—"
Boom!
Another massive explosion. Several Divine Spirit Soldiers beneath him were driven straight into the earth by the black sphere, their entire bodies buried and utterly still, leaving it uncertain if they were deceased.
Although Rall's contracted item was formidable, he was fundamentally a mage, specializing in gravity magic. Now, his body, having been repaired by Lin Luo, had its strength restored to its peak. His magic flowed as if limitless, raining down gravity spheres one after another.
"Shingmei-ryu Zanmaken... Second Katana!" Simultaneously, on another flank, Konoe Eiin also launched his attack against the Divine Spirit Soldiers. The Shingmei-ryu style was a demon-slaying sword technique, considered the nemesis of monsters, especially the highest-tier Second Katana, capable of severing spirits and slaying gods.
Though these Divine Spirit Soldiers were driven by the Creator, they were fundamentally monstrous beings. The Shingmei-ryu techniques naturally inflicted massive damage; any struck by the Second Katana suffered severe injuries.
The Divine Spirit Soldiers were mere puppets driven only by combat awareness, possessing no emotion beyond instinct. They felt no fear. In an instant, several soldiers surrounded Konoe Eiin, their colossal fists slamming down.
"Tsk, it seems I've been underestimated," Konoe Eiin responded to the situation without a trace of concern, smiling faintly. "However, after being caught off guard last time, I've done my fair share of training. Better not underestimate me too much."
A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and the longsword in his hand streaked out countless afterimages. "Second Katana... Hyakka Ryoran!"
Countless sword lights drifted down from the sky like cherry blossoms. The Divine Spirit Soldiers that had him surrounded were easily sliced apart, crashing down in heaps, clearly beyond saving.
"Inscribed in the Crimson Soul!"
While others were fighting, Sakuya was not idle. She had once again entered her berserker state. The crimson bloodstains on her clothes were not yet dry, and her blood-red eyes shone with ruthless light. The moment the crimson mist rose, countless throwing knives converged into a single line, piercing through the bodies of the two Divine Spirit Soldiers before her.
A Divine Spirit Soldier suddenly appeared behind her, its massive fist descending with the force of Mount Tai crashing down upon Sakuya. Given Sakuya's physical defense, being hit by this punch would likely crush her flat, but... this was clearly impossible.
The instant the fist descended, Sakuya's figure vanished from her original spot, reappearing momentarily in mid-air behind the soldier. Then, countless throwing knives surged in from all directions.
Splash! Splash! Splash...
Blood churned in the sky, raining down like a fountain, transforming into a rain of blood. The Divine Spirit Soldier let out a piercing scream; judging by the sound, it wouldn't die immediately.
Everyone was showcasing their skills, and Lin Luo certainly couldn't just stand by watching. In fact, he had also made his move right after La Khan attacked, though he wasn't eager to strike. Instead, he was busy redirecting and coordinating, utilizing the rule power to divide the Divine Spirit Soldiers so they could be dealt with in manageable waves.
Otherwise, if all the spirits were concentrated together, not only would the pressure on them increase drastically, but there was also the risk of accidentally injuring comrades during the chaos. This wasn't a game where teammates were immune to friendly fire.
Facing the wave rushing toward him, Lin Luo spread his hands. Countless weapons rapidly took shape behind him, each shimmering with faint white light—these were forged from the fusion of the Rule of Creation and the Law of Illusion: the Treasury of the Fantasy King!
Divine Spirit Soldiers were monsters, requiring no quarter. Ordinarily, the most effective attack against such foes would be the destructive Black Flame, which possessed the greatest lethality. However, before that ultimate move could be completed, the incomplete Black Flame was his greatest trump card. Using it against these Divine Spirit Soldiers would be overkill, especially with the Creator yet to appear...
Lin Luo needed to save his ultimate trump card for the strongest enemy. Thus, unleashing the Black Flame now was clearly inappropriate; deploying the principles of Creation and Illusion was more than sufficient.
With a sharp shout, Lin Luo pointed forward, and countless weapons shot out like lightning toward the Divine Spirit Soldiers.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom...
Just as Medea and Berserker were helpless against Gilgamesh, these Divine Spirit Soldiers were equally powerless against Lin Luo's long-range Noble Phantasm attack. One by one, they were pierced through like targets on a range. At a distance of thirty meters, they simply could not cross the line.
"Ha! Easier than I thought. I've already taken down fifty!" La Khan roared with laughter after felling the last soldier within ten meters of him. Suddenly, he spotted a figure in the sky and teased, "Yo, old loli, you haven't made a move yet. Is your body still recovering? Or did you overexert yourself with your boyfriend?"
Crack!
Several veins visibly bulged on Evangeline's forehead, her fingers clicking audibly as she clenched them. Terrifying killing intent radiated from her body, and she said coldly, "Ahhh! You want to die, you brute? Be careful I don't take you down too, you flexing dumbbell!"
"Alright, alright, we'll discuss this topic later. For now, let's focus on the enemies at hand," La Khan chuckled, ceasing his teasing of Evangeline. If he genuinely provoked her into attacking him, that would be troublesome; he had no desire to fight a full-power Evangeline.
It wasn't that La Khan feared Evangeline, nor was he weaker than her. The issue was that one was an undying True Ancestor Vampire, and the other was the King of Dominance with unparalleled physical prowess. If the two were to fight, it wouldn't be a contest of who had higher combat power, but rather whose reserves were deeper: Evangeline’s magical energy or La Khan’s stamina.
In La Khan's opinion, such a battle was utterly tedious.
"Although we've wiped out nearly a fifth of them, the sheer quantity is terrifying. It barely seems to have diminished. This pace won't work," Al suddenly stated with a grave tone.
While they were holding off the Divine Spirit Soldiers, their numbers were simply too vast. If they went on eliminating them one by one, it would be a massive drain on their magical reserves. Moreover, these were merely the Creator's vanguard; who knew what more terrifying enemies lay beyond, or whether the Creator themselves would enter the fray.
"Have you finally grasped the situation, you group of fools?" Evangeline scoffed coldly. "Though their combat power is high, they are nothing but mindless drones. Anyone engaging them head-on is even more brainless. What's needed now is a single, sweeping bombardment."
"Heh, looks like Katie has a plan," Al remarked.
"Hmph!" Evangeline snorted, then abruptly thrust her hand forward. "You four muscle-bound simpletons, all you need to do is keep these stragglers pinned down. Let me finish this in one strike."
"Rikurakukura Kurakulaik, come forth! Eternal Darkness, Eternal Glacier!" Before anyone else could react, Evangeline had begun chanting the spell unilaterally.
"Honestly, you woman, you should notify us beforehand even when initiating a major spell," Sakuya suddenly appeared beside her, slicing off the arm of a Divine Spirit Soldier lunging for Evangeline, complaining.
"No choice then. We'll have to provide support for the time being," Konoe Eiin materialized on Evangeline's other side, blocking the remaining soldiers for her.
"We can begin now," Lin Luo utilized his power of rules to force all the Divine Spirit Soldiers into one concentrated area.
"Hmph hmph!" Evangeline maintained her cold smirk, ignoring her surroundings, and continued chanting. "Grant equal death to all things possessing life; this is the peace... World Freeze!"
