Under Lin Luo's crushing dominance, the two puppets were utterly immobilized, unable to counterattack or even twitch a muscle. The once formidable beings were now as helpless as infants.
Lin Luo needed to manufacture an enemy—one that the people of the magical world would have no compunction about eliminating. Undoubtedly, "The Complete World" was the most suitable candidate for this role. However, the Senate could not be spared either, so Lin Luo deliberately intertwined the fate of the Senate with that of "The Complete World."
Although the reality was otherwise, it no longer mattered. After viewing those images and hearing those declarations, even a falsehood could be forged into truth. It was the same old adage: humanity is a fusion of wisdom and folly; the choices they make primarily depend on who guides them, and how.
And now, the entire scene was under Lin Luo's absolute control.
If the situation were solely about Ellika and Naji, perhaps not many would stand with Lin Luo, save for those who genuinely worshipped them. But now it was different. The collusion between the Senate and The Complete World meant the enemy was not just a group of individuals, but an enemy of the world itself... and they were about to face the world's wrath!
With the exception of the die-hard loyalists of the Senate, the tide had turned completely. From the common folk watching outside the cordon to the soldiers present, everyone was now filled with righteous indignation toward the Senate. Every person who could lift a weapon launched an attack against the MM cavalry.
"Th-this, how can this be? How could this happen?" Most of the senators of the Senate were completely panicked by the sight before them. They had utterly lost their usual composure and calm, flustering about like cornered dogs.
This was understandable. The reason these high-ranking officials could remain calm when facing any situation was the absolute power backing them. But what if that power was suddenly rendered useless?
Rulers entrenched in high positions fear death more than anyone else!
"It’s... it's fine, we still have the fleet! If we just order the fleet outside the city to sail in and kill everyone here, then no one will ever know what happened today!" one of the senators suddenly recalled something and shouted out loud.
This was tantamount to a mad proposal. There were at least forty to fifty thousand people in the square, including the commoners, and this one decision amounted to a massacre! Yet, the other senators did not object; rather, upon hearing his words, they showed signs of relief.
"Yes, just have the fleet kill everyone here..."
One senator was saying, but before he could finish, a massive figure plummeted from the sky with a resounding crash—it was as if a meteor had struck the earth. The entire plaza shook violently, the tremors causing some people to fall directly to the ground. From the billowing smoke, a nonchalant voice drifted out.
"Oh, the fleet outside the city? My apologies, but I found things a bit dull earlier, so I took the liberty of cutting them all down. Ah well, it wasn't quite satisfying enough."
When the senators saw that figure, their faces held nothing but terror. They pointed at the man, trembling so violently they could barely speak, "Y-you, you, you are Jack Lacan..."
"Yo, long time no see, esteemed senators," Lacan said, casually rolling his shoulders. With a casual flick of his right fist, dozens of MM cavalry were instantly sent flying. He then started walking forward, "It's quite nostalgic; I recall battles just like this one from the past."
"Gomu Gomotsu has arrived, so I don't need to hide anymore." Al extended his hand and pressed down gently. Gravity magic instantly crushed the hundreds of MM cavalry before him into the ground, causing the pavement itself to sink. He then released his previous transformation spell.
"Al Bilio Imar!" The Senate once again changed...
"Rikku Rakku Rakku Rerakku! Dark Night... Fubuki!"
A young girl's voice sounded beside them, followed by a sudden, sweeping gust of intensely cold frost that instantly froze hundreds of MM cavalry into ice sculptures.
"That's... Dark Gospel! Evangeline McDowell!" The Senate senators completely broke down. With the Imperial Guards present, the appearance of Al and Lacan wasn't entirely surprising, as they were both members of the Crimson Wings. But why would the Dark Gospel, missing for sixteen years, also appear? It made no sense!
The moment they recalled that the two individuals they were about to put on trial were a member of the Crimson Wings and a True Progenitor Vampire, they felt as if all the blood in their bodies had turned to ice.
Wait! If one was Al and the other was Evangeline, then who were the other two...? The senators suddenly realized that to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these two individuals, the other two must be figures of immense power.
"The Murderer in the Foggy Night!"
Just as the senators thought this, a cold, clear girl's voice rang in their ears, and then they witnessed a scene of absolute horror: suddenly, countless throwing knives materialized in the sky. The violent wind whipped up by these knives was like a dense mist, completely disorienting everyone. Then, the knives carved silver arcs, spraying clouds of bloody mist.
More terrifyingly, this bloody mist did not dissipate; instead, it hung in the air, merging with the gale. Every time a crimson vapor drifted past, it claimed a life.
On the plaza, amidst continuous screams, the MM cavalry fell one by one. Some had their throats slit, others had their hearts pierced, some had their heads cleanly severed, and yet others were so drenched in blood that their faces were unrecognizable.
One senator suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. Instinctively looking down, he found a gaping hole where his heart should have been. With a sickening crunch, an object fell to the ground... it was his heart.
Sakuya rarely kills, but when she does, she kills like a non-human.
Don't be fooled by Sakuya’s usual smiling demeanor, which makes her seem amiable and easygoing to everyone. If anyone mistakenly assumes she is that approachable, they are profoundly mistaken. While she is easygoing in her normal state, once her killing intent surfaces, she ceases to be a person; she becomes... a phantom!
Being a killer by trade, when she takes a life, her blood runs cold. She extinguishes the enemy's life without sympathy, without pity, utterly devoid of humanity.
There are many murderers—Shiki Nanaya and Shiki Tohno could both be called murderers, and even some assassins are known by that moniker—but compared to Sakuya, these individuals are mere nobodies.
Her entire body was shrouded in blood mist, which enveloped most of her enemies. While controlling the throwing knives with her ability, she was not idle. Using instant movement, she appeared before an MM cavalryman, and before he could react, a knife drawn across his throat.
Shing!
A jet of blood erupted.
Before the man could fall, Sakuya reappeared above another MM cavalryman. The triple layers of magical barriers were as fragile as paper; her throwing knife pierced directly into the man's head, cleaving it open, sending a pink and white mixture soaring into the air.
Without pausing, Sakuya instantly reappeared in the midst of five MM cavalrymen, stretching her hands outward. A dozen knives circled rapidly, forming a ring, and then began to spin... a hyper-speed dissection!
When she moved away, the five MM cavalrymen lay dead, only skeletons remaining in their chests.
This was a pure and savage method of killing. When Sakuya began her slaughter, no one dared approach her. Even those allied with her dared not venture close to the blood mist, as the sheer gore chilled them to the bone.
In less than a minute, the number of people Sakuya had killed surpassed the total casualties before she even started fighting. Even Evangeline and Al could not compare to her efficiency. Of course, Sakuya was not using her full power. If she truly unleashed her strength, she could have slain everyone present in a single second, save for a select few.
However, this battle was not worthy of her full effort; it was overkill for her.
"Hey, hey, who is that woman? She's terrifying!" Putting others aside, even Lacan shuddered watching Sakuya's handiwork, not out of fear of her power, but because of the cold-blooded nature that sent a chill down his spine.
"She is Lin Luo's friend—no, perhaps his woman. To be honest, this is the first time I’ve seen her like this. Truly terrifying," Al replied in a low voice.
"The Murderer in the Foggy Night, hmm, I see now," Evangeline said, crossing her arms and grinning. As a True Progenitor Vampire who had lived for over six centuries, she had crawled out of piles of corpses herself; a scene like this posed no issue for her.
At this moment, the three of them ceased attacking. Even the guards of the Horas Empire and the Magic Knights stood back, guarding their superiors, keeping their distance... because this battlefield no longer required their involvement. Sakuya alone was sufficient to clean up everything.
Hearing Evangeline’s words, Al and Lacan were initially confused, but they soon understood her meaning. "The Murderer in the Foggy Night" was the name of Sakuya’s technique, but it referred not just to the elusive throwing knives, but to her very transformation into a killing entity!
When the blood mist cleared from the sky, Sakuya’s assault ceased. Not a single one of the five thousand MM cavalry who had sworn absolute loyalty to the Senate survived. While nearly a thousand died by the hands of others, nearly four thousand perished under Sakuya’s blade.
To slay four thousand in such a short span—this was no longer mere massacre; it was reaping.
Drip! Drip! Drip...
The entire plaza fell silent, broken only by the sound of blood hitting the ground, the source of which was Sakuya. Her body was now completely drenched in blood; her silver knives were stained crimson, her clothes looked like robes of gore, and her silver eyes were as red as blood.
She held six throwing knives, allowing the blood to drip onto the ground. Her scarlet eyes gazed forward, and she began to walk step by step toward the Senate rostrum.
Excluding the one who had died, the two held captive by Lin Luo, and Richard, their companion, the remaining thirty-two Senate members were trembling violently from fear. Several of the more faint-hearted had even wet themselves...
