Xu Xing of Yizhou, who called himself the Yama of the Underworld, went to serve his duties there every night, and the scholar Ma from Tongzhou claimed the same. When Xu Xing heard of this, he went to visit the Ma residence and asked what exactly he had done in the netherworld the previous night. Scholar Ma replied, "Nothing much. Left Scholar Luoshi Gong attained the Dao and ascended to the heavens, and I saw him off. Heavenly lotuses fell, each as large as a house."
