The low period from yesterday is over, and today's state is super good. Looking forward to six chapters, GOOD. ... There are a total of eight girls in this world, five of whom I have already claimed... Wait, why does it feel like I’m collecting demons? Alright, let’s put that aside for now. Where do I find the remaining three girls? This is a serious question.
“First, we need to understand what kind of world this is,” Lin Luo said to Shokuhou and Mugino as they walked. They had been walking for several hours, yet they were still within the boundaries of this vast grassland. This prairie seemed boundless.
“Indeed,” Mugino nodded, her voice deep. “The worldview of every world is different, whether it’s the power system, the level of mystery, or even the Anti-Force like in the previous world. If we don’t figure these things out, every step we take will likely be fraught with difficulty.”
“So, what kind of world do you think this is?” Shokuhou inquired. “We don't have any native residents of this world in our party, and after walking for half a day, we haven’t even seen a single person.”
“I’m not yet familiar with the system of this world, but there are a few points I can confirm,” Lin Luo said, raising a finger as he noticed their puzzled looks. “First, this world probably isn't human-centric.”
“Why?” Shokuhou asked, not understanding.
Lin Luo countered, “You haven’t forgotten the Dragon race from before, have you?”
“How could anyone forget something like that?” Mugino grimaced. “I doubt I'll ever forget the sheer shock of that scene for the rest of my life.”
“That’s good. Nearly thirty percent of the dragons in the previous world possessed rule-force power. In any world we’ve visited before, that caliber of being could slay gods and buddhas alike. So, on a land where a legion of god-like entities flies about wantonly, can humans truly live in peace and contentment?” Lin Luo questioned again.
“True, ordinary humans couldn't survive on this land,” Shokuhou conceded with a nod, then shook her head. “But that doesn't confirm it, does it? Maybe these dragons are just the remnants of the Dragon race, driven out of the central world by humans, only able to survive here. You often see these kinds of plots in comics and novels.”
“What you’re saying isn’t entirely without merit, but have you forgotten my abilities?” Lin Luo pointed to his head, speaking confidently. “I can analyze world rules. Even if it’s only five percent right now, it’s enough to touch upon a fraction of the world’s true nature.”
“So, your feeling is that this world is not primarily human?” Mugino asked instinctively.
Lin Luo nodded. “Not only is it not human-centric, but I even have a bold speculation: that this world consists only of this vast land, and upon this land, apart from the participants of the God War, there are no other human beings.”
“This…” The two seemed startled by Lin Luo’s words, exchanging glances. Finally, Mugino spoke, “That seems a little unlikely. After all, this is a world; how could there be no humans?”
Lin Luo shook his head, explaining, “Nothing is impossible. Think carefully—this is a God War. If this were a world of ordinary humans, what kind of catastrophic consequences would this cause? Once the Walkers can unleash their full power, any world slightly weaker would see its entire human society annihilated.”
Saying this, he glanced at them again and stated gravely, “And the most crucial point is the stake of this war—the victor claims this world.”
“You mean…” The two suddenly began to grasp the implication, and their expressions shifted instantly.
“That’s exactly what I mean,” Lin Luo snapped his fingers and smiled. “Let’s first assume that reward is real. Then, the literal meaning is that the victor obtains this world. If this were a world of ordinary humans, and assuming we emerged victorious, this world would truly belong to us. But what about the humans already living here?”
Lin Luo waved his hand, not waiting for their reply, and continued, “Would they all be brainwashed into serving us? Before denying whether the puppet masters of the God War possess such capability, I absolutely do not believe the God War would go to such lengths.”
“Furthermore, there are limitations imposed by world rules. Whether these limitations existed naturally or were set by the God War, their purpose is to minimize the impact the Walkers have on the world. Therefore, my speculation is… this is a world specifically carved out for the God War.” Lin Luo concluded decisively at this point.
Mugino stroked her chin, pondering for a moment. “You mean, this world exists solely for the sake of the God War?”
Lin Luo nodded. “Yes, a world without ordinary humans, without an Anti-Force, where we can unleash our power freely and fight to our hearts’ content.”
“I can understand the part about no humans after hearing what you said, but how can you be so sure about the Anti-Force? You don’t possess the speed to reach and interact with the Anti-Force yet, do you?” Mugino voiced her continued doubt.
Lin Luo answered this question with ease. “Mugino, let me ask you: if my strength were restored to the level I was at when fighting Seig, and my rule-force could be fully unleashed at one hundred percent, do you think I could defeat the Anti-Force of the last world?”
“You couldn’t,” Mugino replied without hesitation.
Lin Luo immediately shrugged. “Then that settles it. Since this world is prepared for us, it naturally won't contain anything capable of instantly defeating all of us.”
Shokuhou suddenly interjected, “Then what about the previous dragon horde? Even with eight Walkers united, we couldn't possibly defeat such a group.”
“The dragon horde is merely one faction. As long as we don't provoke them, they likely won't seek us out. They are just wild animals... Yes, similar to NPCs in a game. Players, unless they’re acting on a sudden surge of recklessness or purely seeking suicide, wouldn’t intentionally bother the NPCs, right?” Lin Luo tried to offer an analogy.
Shokuhou nodded. “Mmm, now that you put it that way, it makes sense.” Mugino also fell silent, evidently agreeing with Lin Luo’s deduction.
After a brief silence, Lin Luo spoke again, “But speaking of which… huh?” He stopped mid-sentence, raising his hand to halt the other two, his expression becoming grave.
“What is it?” Mugino quickly asked, instinctively assuming a combat stance.
“Be careful; I think something is targeting us,” Lin Luo stated grimly, activating his perception field and letting it surge out in all directions.
“A Walker?” Shokuhou pressed, her face showing a degree of nervousness, which was understandable given that her current abilities were useless in a direct confrontation with a Walker.
“Doesn’t feel like it. Perhaps… move aside!” Just as he finished speaking, Lin Luo saw a green flash erupt from the nearby grass, shooting toward Shokuhou like lightning.
Lin Luo’s face changed, and he quickly pulled her toward him. To his surprise, the green flash inexplicably bent mid-air, tracing an angular path as it zipped past his arm.
Lin Luo felt a searing, sharp pain on his arm and instinctively frowned. Looking down, he saw a triangular fang mark etched into his skin, and the bite wound immediately turned a dark, inky black.
Viper.
“Mugino, ascend!” Realizing the situation, Lin Luo roared, while simultaneously hooking his arm around Shokuhou’s waist and propelling them upward. At that moment, dozens of green lights shot toward him simultaneously. However, for Lin Luo, who had already deployed his rule-force, they posed no threat and were all blocked, falling harmlessly to the ground.
Swish.
As for Mugino, the Wings of Fallen Heaven unfurled, carrying her swiftly into the sky. Like Lin Luo, as she took flight, over a dozen green rays shot toward her. But forewarned by Lin Luo, she was prepared; small white dots materialized around her, and when the green rays collided with them, they were instantly pulverized, spraying crimson mist.
This was natural, as those white dots were all products of Atomic Decay.
The three converged in the air. Lin Luo, holding Shokuhou, stood motionless, his feet planted on the empty void, while Mugino slowly beat her black wings, her body gently undulating.
“What is that?” Halting in mid-air, their gazes instinctively dropped downward. Upon seeing the scene on the ground, even a powerhouse of Mugino’s caliber felt her scalp prickle, her brow deeply furrowed.
“That is… uhh—” Shokuhou followed Mugino’s gaze and looked down. After just one glance, her beautiful face instantly turned ashen.
The reason was simple: where they had just been standing, beneath the knee-high grass, lay countless venomous snakes, as thick as a thumb and multicolored. A cursory glance confirmed their number was well over ten thousand. Some raised their heads, flickering scarlet tongues; others were intertwined like writhing earthworms. The dense, packed mass was utterly repulsive and terrifying.
Girls generally possess an innate fear of reptiles and creatures like rats. Mugino was better off; as a combat specialist from the dark side who had undergone training since childhood, she could still withstand such a sight.
But Shokuhou was different. Although she was an Esper ranked LV5, she was ultimately a pampered, aristocratic middle schooler who had never witnessed such a horrific spectacle. She trembled in fear.
Even when facing the Great Boss known as the Evil of This World, she hadn't panicked, but now she was shaking uncontrollably. The thought that the very spot where she had been standing was covered by a serpent mass—that countless vipers might have been coiled right next to her feet just moments ago—filled her with lingering terror. Goosebumps rose across her skin, and she nearly vomited.
Frightening things were not solely defined by irresistible, immense power. V
