The predecessor of Jin'an Community was a so-called urban village. After the developer acquired the land, most of it was turned into high-end residences. The original villagers were resettled into Jin'an Community, meaning the majority of residents here are without power or influence—the vulnerable class, one might say.
The developer who undertook this project back then was surnamed Li, his name was Li Xiufu. When he was developing Jin'an Village, he was merely a minor local tycoon with some clout. But through years of accumulation, given that he was in the hyper-profitable real estate sector, he now commands assets worth billions.
Li Runqian is Li Xiufu’s only son. With a father worth billions, he is unquestionably a second-generation rich kid. This young Master Li generally indulges in the usual vices—drinking, gambling, and womanizing—but his particular passion is keeping dogs.
Last year, he acquired a Tibetan Mastiff at his villa. A neighbor, merely making a casual complaint, nearly got that dog euthanized.
This incident made Li Runqian realize that keeping large dogs in an upscale community was problematic; too many powerful people resided there, making it easy to offend someone untouchable. After some thought, he set his sights on Jin'an Community.
The management company for Jin'an Community is owned by Li Xiufu, making Li Runqian the undisputed crown prince here. Furthermore, the residents of this complex are all commoners with no status or power. Who would dare ruffle the feathers of Young Master Li while he keeps his dogs here?
So, Li Runqian relocated to Jin'an Community. He expanded a storeroom owned by the management company within the complex into a kennel, and fenced off over a hundred square meters of public green space with iron rods to create a yard.
As the crown prince, did he need to consult anyone about such minor matters? A verbal nod to the manager of the property management company was sufficient.
Once his kennel was established, some of his dog-loving friends began using the location as a gathering spot. Occasionally, when they were out or busy, they would board their dogs here temporarily. Gradually, the number of canines in the area grew, and they were all restricted, large breeds.
As mentioned before, the repeated complaints from the homeowners went nowhere because the management company essentially worked for Young Master Li’s family; they had no standing to discipline Li Runqian. The police, for their part, dragged their feet for entirely different reasons.
In short, Young Master Li’s kennel had firmly rooted itself in Jin'an Community, showing every sign of thriving and bearing fruit.
The residents grumbled incessantly about this. A few headstrong young men confronted the matter, only to be beaten back. Which real estate developer doesn't have some unsavory connections? With a mere remote command from Young Master Li’s phone, those few were taken away by "unidentified personnel" in a van for a "chat."
Others suggested appealing to higher authorities, but no capable leader had stepped forward to rally them, so for the time being, they could only watch as Young Master Li’s beloved dogs ran wild through the community.
The person bitten today is named Huang Hongbo. He is actually not a resident of the community. He simply runs a small appliance repair shop nearby, plastering cheap, unsightly advertisements around town to solicit house calls.
Jin'an Community is Huang Hongbo’s biggest source of business; he visits almost daily, so he knows the place well.
The day before yesterday, after fixing a family’s television, he stepped out of the stairwell and immediately trod into a steaming pile of dog excrement, staining a large patch of his newly purchased leather shoes green.
He knew the dog’s owner was trouble, so he just cursed the bad luck and moved on. Today, as he was walking toward the community exit, a large dog of a breed he couldn't identify began circling him, sniffing persistently.
Huang Hongbo figured the dog must have caught the scent of the feces on his shoe, which only fueled his annoyance. He raised his leg in a gesture—a feint—and the dog, mistaking it for an aggressive move, instinctively backed away a couple of steps.
Huang Hongbo crouched down in a posture mimicking picking up a stone. Growing up in the countryside, feral dogs would flee if someone bent over, assuming they were about to be hit with a rock. What he hadn't expected was that this Dogo Argentino, raised in the city, understood nothing of such etiquette. It took his lowered stance as an invitation to pounce and began barking wildly while executing what looked like a Mizong Bu (Lost Track Step).
This scene was witnessed by Young Master Li Runqian, who was out walking his dogs, and one of his friends named Qin Zeyu. Young Master Li immediately exploded in anger: How dare a mere peasant frighten my prized dog?
He looked down and unclipped the leash of another Dogo Argentino he was holding. This dog had bitten someone in the community recently and had never been properly disciplined, which is why it was leashed. Since someone dared to intimidate his dog, they deserved to taste its ferocity.
The newly released Dogo Argentino lunged and bit Huang Hongbo’s leg. The other dog’s aggression was instantly stoked, leading to the scene of two vicious dogs chasing and biting a man in the community courtyard.
It was fortunate that Li Runqian’s two dogs were not yet fully grown and lacked extensive biting experience; otherwise, they would have easily torn large chunks of flesh from Huang Hongbo.
Seeing the two dogs relentlessly pursue and bite Huang Hongbo, Li Runqian and Qin Zeyu made no move to stop them, instead watching the spectacle with excitement.
“Er Bai [Second White] is better, knows how to aim for vital spots.”
“Heh, Da Bai [Big White] lacks some experience, but as a vanguard, he’s top-notch. Not bad.”
“Daring to provoke my dogs—he must be tired of living.”
“Let Da Bai and Er Bai have their fill; we’ll toss some medical expenses his way later, it’s worth it.”
Beside the two men, the Great Dane being walked by another dog owner stood up excitedly, barking incessantly. If it weren't held back tightly, it probably would have rushed forward to viciously attack Huang Hongbo too.
Just then, a tall young man strode swiftly out, heading directly toward the lawn where the human-dog battle was raging.
“Hah!”
With a shout like a clap of thunder, both dogs turned their heads simultaneously, immediately sensing the threat from the newcomer. The one called Er Bai attacked without hesitation, lunging forward.
The newcomer was Wang Zhuo. Seeing that the dog’s owner had no intention of intervening, he knew that if this continued, the man would either die or be severely disabled, so he stepped in to aid the wronged.
It was dinnertime, and some residents strolling or passing by after work were watching the thrilling scene from a safe distance. Wang Zhuo quickly moved through the sparse crowd. As he passed a woman pushing an electric scooter, he casually grabbed a length of iron chain lock from her front basket, folded it once, and gripped it firmly in his right hand.
Er Bai, ignorant of Wang Zhuo’s skill, had found it easy to bully Huang Hongbo, operating with a bit of a cat-and-mouse mentality, so it paid no mind to Wang Zhuo and leaped enthusiastically to bite Wang Zhuo’s arm.
Although Er Bai was not yet mature, it weighed over fifty pounds; when it jumped, it could easily aim for the throat, appearing from a distance like a leaping little leopard.
Wang Zhuo suddenly ducked low and sharply dodged; Er Bai missed and found empty space. Then, its rear ankles were fiercely grabbed. The dog’s forward momentum was abruptly halted.
At that moment, several gasps echoed through the community. People watched in astonishment as the young man rushing to help had caught the airborne vicious dog’s hind legs with both hands!
For anyone else, simply avoiding the attack in time would have been a challenge, but Wang Zhuo had anticipated the enemy’s move, allowing him to dodge composedly while simultaneously twisting his body to seize both of Er Bai's hind legs from behind.
Before anyone could utter a word of discussion, Wang Zhuo, without pausing after grabbing the legs, spun his body sharply to the side, swinging the fifty-plus-pound dog in a full circle in the air before slamming it violently onto the ground.
Thud!
The dull sound, like a sack of grain being dropped, was so loud it nearly equaled a large firecracker. Then, the Dogo Argentino lay sprawled stiffly on the ground, its four limbs twitching, blood splattering more than ten paces away. Its abdomen looked like a deflated leather pouch; its internal organs were likely smashed.
Er Bai, moments ago arrogant under the protection of its owner, was now barely breathing in the blink of an eye. Not even an immortal could save it.
From Wang Zhuo's appearance to the vicious dog’s collapse, no more than five or six seconds had passed. Li Runqian and Qin Zeyu hadn't even finished a complete sentence before the dog was dead.
Furious to the extreme, Li Runqian raised his hand to point at Wang Zhuo, intending to shout, but Wang Zhuo was already two steps away from Da Bai. With a swing of the iron chain lock in his hand, he struck Da Bai, which was attempting deceptive footwork near its paws, right on its head.
Wang Zhuo had long predicted Da Bai’s movement, so the chain strike was precisely aimed—hard and accurate—landing squarely on Da Bai’s left ear and eye. After being hit, Da Bai didn't move an inch; with a faint whimper, it collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
His X-ray vision quickly scanned the two dogs on the ground. Wang Zhuo determined that the first dog, the one he threw, had a ruptured liver and broken ribs piercing its lungs, causing internal bleeding. If it were a human, rescue might still be attempted, but for a dog, it was a lost cause. The second dog’s left eye was burst, smearing fluid across the ground, its eardrum ruptured, and suffering intracranial bleeding; even if it survived, it would be crippled, its only value being as a stud dog for breeding.
The community instantly erupted. Someone had killed two large dogs with bare hands—his combat prowess was terrifying! Moreover, there was an even graver issue: he had killed Young Master Li’s dogs, and he had done it right in front of him. This incident would certainly blow up.
Li Runqian’s eyes were wide with disbelief. Someone actually dared to strike his dogs, and right to his face! As the saying goes, one must consider the owner before striking a dog; this was not just a beating of a dog—it was a slap to Li Runqian’s own face!
The security guards were also stunned. Who was this reckless fool who dared to attack Young Master Li’s dogs?
“Runqian, Er Bai is probably done for…” Qin Zeyu’s brow was so tightly furrowed with distress it looked like a single line.
“Damn it!” Li Runqian violently threw Er Bai’s leash aside and roared furiously at the guards on either side: “What are you standing around for, you bastards? Go ** beat him to death, and I’ll take responsibility!”
Those were the boss's boss's son! What if they went up and got beaten? Some of the guards hesitated, but the others, those who never held back, immediately charged forward. The young master of their boss’s boss had given the order; what were they waiting for? Taking that kid down would be a great achievement. If they impressed the Crown Prince, they could climb the ladder to prosperity!
