"The Evolution Pool," also known as the "Dragon Transformation Pool," is the second most sacred place to the Dragon Clan, second only to the Altar.
Outside the Evolution Pool, the guards watched as Xiaozhao’s eyes began to glow with an inner light.
Xiaozhao’s beauty was renowned throughout the entire Dragon Domain.
"Little Zhao, what brings you to the Dragon Transformation Pool today? Have you been missing us?" the guards chuckled.
However, before they could finish their greeting, their expressions shifted instantly, and they hastily bowed to the ground: "We greet the Dragon God!"
Chen Feng ignored the guards' abrupt lack of decorum and followed closely behind Xiaozhao as she stepped onto the grounds surrounding the Dragon Transformation Pool.
The pool was housed within a vast hall. Upon entering, one could see a colossal circular pool, over thirty meters in diameter, shrouded in wisps of pale crimson mist.
Xiaohu was lounging on a nearby recliner beside the pool, eyes narrowed in sleep.
"Dragon God!"
Splash... The assembled guards inside the pool immediately prostrated themselves upon seeing Chen Feng.
Xiaohu snapped awake at the chorus of shouts. He vaulted off the recliner in a single bound: "Boss!"
"What are you doing here? Where is Luobo?"
"He went in. He hasn't come out yet!" Xiaohu pointed toward the blood-red waters of the Dragon Transformation Pool.
"Dragon God, I am Meinhart, the captain responsible for guarding the Dragon Transformation Pool!" A young man stepped forward, cupping his hands in salute.
Chen Feng inquired, "Are there any regulations for entering the Dragon Transformation Pool?"
Meinhart replied, "Reporting to the Dragon God. Normally, only Dragon Clan descendants with high innate talent are permitted to enter the pool. The closer one's final form resembles the Dragon God's upon exiting, the higher their future cultivation potential will be!"
He then gestured toward the opposite wall: "This is the Dragon Transformation Ranking Chart!"
Chen Feng followed his gaze to the smooth wall, where several massive murals were carved.
The first depiction was of a colossal dragon resembling a lizard. The second bore a resemblance to the Chinese Dragon, though it possessed only two claws. Subsequent carvings showed forms with three claws, then four.
"Why is the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon form not shown in this chart?" Chen Feng couldn't help but ask.
"The Five-Clawed Golden Dragon is a form exclusive to the Dragon God. Upon emerging from the pool, the maximum transformation achieved is four claws, and that is exceedingly rare. In over ten thousand years, only the Great Elder has managed to transform into a four-clawed dragon; the highest attained by others has been three claws!"
"It’s that difficult to achieve four claws?" Chen Feng displayed a strange expression.
"Indeed," Meinhart confirmed firmly. "The Dragon Transformation Pool contains Flame Dragon blood. The more Flame Dragon blood absorbed, the higher the evolution. However, after millennia of use by the clan, the blood concentration within the pool has become quite dilute, making advancement increasingly difficult!"
Chen Feng finally understood. No wonder the Great Elder and others spoke of revitalizing the Dragon Clan—it was a matter of bloodline purity.
But as a descendant of the Flame Dragon elder, he felt obligated to assist them. He stated, "Can I simply drip my blood into the Dragon Transformation Pool?"
The guards, who had just risen, immediately knelt again in alarm: "This subordinate misspoke! The Dragon God has only just arrived in the Dragon Domain; we dare not ask the esteemed Lord to bleed! Please, return to rest."
Seeing Meinhart's distress, Chen Feng did not press the matter. After all, he understood too little about the Evolution Pool. If it merely required adding blood, how much blood would be needed to saturate a thirty-meter-wide circular pool? There must be some specialized method.
"Everyone, rise!" Chen Feng commanded. He turned his gaze back to the pool water, which was now churning violently, with bubbles constantly erupting on the surface.
The pale red mist began to coalesce into strange, distinct shapes, as if possessing a nascent intelligence.
"He's coming out..." Xiaohu shouted loudly.
As his words faded, there was a loud whoosh, and a colossal form rocketed out of the water, nearly twenty meters long, covered in dark crimson scales. Its appearance was about eighty percent similar to the Chinese Divine Dragon, but it possessed only two claws on its chest.
Luobo had evolved completely into a Two-Clawed Red Dragon after undergoing the transformation in the pool.
It seemed talent determined everything. Luobo, limited by his innate aptitude, should not have qualified for the pool in the first place. It was only because he found Chen Feng that he received this opportunity, yet his evolution was the most rudimentary.
The Red Dragon circled once in the air, slowly condensing back into human form, and flew to the bank to bow before Chen Feng: "I greet the Dragon God!"
Chen Feng helped him up, and immediately, everyone around offered congratulations to Luobo.
In the eyes of the others, a mere three-clawed descendant—the lowest tier of talent—managing to evolve to two claws was already a massive breakthrough.
Luobo felt the changes in his body, his face alight with excitement. He told Chen Feng, "Dragon God, I have reached the Saint Domain!"
"Reached the Saint Domain?" Chen Feng was genuinely happy for him. Luobo had been a Ninth-level Battle Venerable for a long time; achieving a cultivation breakthrough while evolving his bloodline was certainly gratifying.
"Then you are fully qualified to train in the 50x Gravity Domain now! Congratulations!" Meinhart strode over and gave him a hearty bear hug.
"Gravity Domain?" Chen Feng was somewhat surprised. When he was in the Nine-Story Pagoda, he and the Flame Dragon elder had spent three months in the 10x Gravity Domain. It was precisely that month's training that had forged his physical body into such resilience, saving him from disaster countless times. He couldn't help but feel a shock.
But a question immediately arose: while it made sense for warriors to train their bodies using gravity, what use was it for mages?
Dragons were naturally all-elemental mages, possessing advantages in magic that humans could never match. Why would a mage focus on physical training? It seemed illogical!
Could it be... could it be connected to the Flame Dragon elder’s God-Making Plan?
"The Gravity Domain is fifty times the pressure of the place we are in now. Most people entering it would probably be crushed to death immediately!" Luobo explained, fearing Chen Feng didn't grasp the concept, as he referred to gravity as pressure.
"Where is this Gravity Domain? Take me to see it!" Chen Feng demanded.
"My Lord wishes to see it?" Luobo looked momentarily stunned.
Meinhart bowed deeply: "Dragon God, the Gravity Domain is not for viewing; it is a place for cultivation. What Luobo mentioned—the 50x Gravity Domain—is only accessible to those at the initial stage of the Saint Domain..."
He quickly tried to explain, his underlying message being one of caution. He seemed to have discerned that Chen Feng's internal energy fluctuation suggested only the strength of a Third-level Battle Venerable, and he feared for Chen Feng’s safety, hence the tactful warning.
Chen Feng recognized their good intentions and didn't want to outright refuse. He replied in a level tone, "I only wish to take a look!"
"Very well, I shall accompany the Dragon God!" Meinhart agreed.
Chen Feng nodded in acceptance. He didn't care who accompanied him, as long as he could witness the 50x Gravity Domain. The benefits he derived from the 10x Gravity Domain were obvious; if he could train his physical constitution further in the 50x domain, wouldn't that only improve him? The thought sent a jolt of eagerness through him.
Accompanied by Xiaozhao, Xiaohu, Luobo, and Meinhart, they left the Dragon Transformation Pool area. Less than two thousand meters away, they saw a massive structure dominating the landscape. In front of the building was a row of relatively small, circular doorways, marked from left to right with the numbers 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100, along with others like 200.
"The first is the 5x Gravity Domain; the second is 10x. The number inscribed on the door indicates the multiplier of the domain!" Meinhart explained. "The 5x domain is suitable for young disciples just beginning their magical studies. The 20x domain is a training ground for Magister-level practitioners. The succeeding 50x, 100x, and 200x domains are for those in the early, middle, and late stages of the Saint Domain, respectively!"
Chen Feng understood. It seemed the gravity spaces created by the Flame Dragon elder followed a distinct pattern. He himself, at the mere rank of Four-Star Battle Warrior, had directly entered the 10x domain. Without the Flame Dragon elder’s bloodline evolution and the Dark Energy Vortex within him, emerging intact might indeed have been extremely difficult.
Thinking of this, Chen Feng suddenly recalled that the Dark Energy Vortex had formed inside him within the Nine-Story Pagoda—the place where the Flame Dragon elder had resided, which contained the elder's soul and must have been saturated with that energy (Faith Power). Had this very energy caused the vortex to form within him?
"It must be so," Chen Feng confirmed internally, reviewing his memories.
After leaving the Nine-Story Pagoda, the Dark Energy Vortex inside him vanished concurrently. If this was not the reason, he would never believe it.
"Because the pressure inside the Gravity Domain is greater than outside, the ambient elemental energy within becomes relatively viscous, causing movement to be much slower than in the outside world. By practicing magic within, we can achieve twice the result with half the effort!" Meinhart continued explaining.
While this justification was superficially plausible, Chen Feng wasn't foolish enough to believe it. Where gravity was high, air pressure was also high, which would certainly slow down spell casting, but that could not be the primary purpose of the Gravity Domain. Having experienced the 10x domain, Chen Feng knew it was the optimal environment for tempering one's physical constitution.
"Hoo..." Taking a deep breath, Chen Feng's eyes shone. He had been moving with ease in the 10x domain when he was only a Battle Warrior. Now, at the Battle Venerable level, and with his physical body having been recently nourished and strengthened by that energy (Faith Power), why not try the 50x Gravity Domain, reserved for early Saints!
He acted as soon as he thought of it—this was Chen Feng's usual style. Without another word, he walked directly toward the circular door marked with '50'.
"Dragon God, you cannot enter... it will be dangerous..." Meinhart cried out anxiously. He started to follow, intending to slip into the domain after Chen Feng, but then stopped himself, shaking his head as he stepped back out.
Meinhart sighed in relief: "He came out immediately. The 50x Gravity Domain is only for those at the early Saint stage. The Dragon God appears to possess only the strength of a Third-level Battle Venerable; if anything were to happen inside, it would be catastrophic..."
However, before he could finish his lament, Chen Feng emerged from the 50x domain and immediately plunged into the circular door marked with '100'.
