The sky shook with a colossal sound, like a muffled thunderclap, as three inky-black spatial rifts tore vertically downward from above, utterly unrestrained.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Leo, Feng Xiang, and Lord Ziyuan felt an immense surge of energy bearing down on them. They tried to move, but it was as if they were ensnared, utterly unable to budge, and were struck squarely by the dark spatial rents, plummeting directly from the sky!
Saint Domain powerhouses could indeed tear spatial fissures with their formidable combat skills, so while this level of assault caused injury, it was not instantly fatal.
In the vast, cloudless expanse above, a dazzling white light flashed. Five elders in white robes materialized simultaneously in the air, their sleeves billowing in the wind as if they were celestial beings descending.
“Greetings, Lord Dragon God!” the five bowed in unison toward Chen Feng.
Their voices rose together, their frequencies seemingly perfectly matched, creating a sound that was exquisitely pleasing to the ear.
The Dragon Clan excelled in the Dragon’s Roar, their control over sound having reached the zenith of refinement. Thus, whether intimidating foes or speaking casually, they could weave these vocal techniques into their address, producing vastly different effects.
As the five spoke, an invisible force enveloped Chen Feng, gently lifting and depositing him just above their formation.
The Dragon Clan hierarchy was strictly observed. Even though the five elders were senior in generation and older in age than the “Lord Dragon God,” they dared not fly above him.
There was only one Dragon God; he must forever occupy the highest peak!
Leo and Feng Xiang soared up from the ground, covered in dust, their previous arrogance vanished, replaced by faces etched with fury: “The Tujian belongs to us! Does your Dragon Clan also intend to lay claim to it?”
However, as they yelled, they noticed the five’s deferential attitude toward Chen Feng, and realization dawned, causing their expressions to change drastically.
“Leo, Feng Xiang, how dare you show disrespect to Lord Dragon God! Are you taking advantage of the Dragon Domain’s long seclusion to bully us?” Elder Long Yi’s face was grim as frost, his voice laced with an authority that generated a deep-seated sense of helplessness in the listeners.
“No…” Leo and Feng Xiang waved their hands hastily upon seeing the Dragon Clan Great Elder enraged. “No, no… you misunderstand!”
“Misunderstand? Are you implying all five of us failed to see clearly?” Long Yi’s face was tight, his snow-white beard whipping in the wind.
“No…” The two men were at a loss for words. In the heat of the moment, they hadn't grasped the full situation, assuming the Dragon Clan’s intervention was also aimed at securing the Xuantian Tujian. But alas… the youth they had disregarded had somehow leaped to prominence, becoming the Dragon God, the inheritor of the Flame Dragon!
Though powerful figures in their respective domains, the two men instantly felt a profound dip in their confidence before the mighty experts of the Dragon Domain.
The Dragon Domain rarely interacted with the other major domains, focusing almost entirely on the Dragon God’s mandate. Even the “Ten Selections Tournament,” only open to the world's strongest, never saw a participant from the Dragon Domain.
Yet, no one dared to underestimate the Dragon Domain’s strength; on the contrary, it inspired a fundamental sense of dread.
Rumor had it that if someone from the Dragon Domain had entered the “Ten Selections Tournament,” the Fist King might not have retained his title!
In a millennium, the Fist King was the sole champion of the tournament, and many speculated that the only reason his reign remained unchallenged was the Dragon Domain’s absence.
A person’s fame casts a long shadow. The Dragon Domain’s reputation across the overseas continent was not built on mere hearsay. In the past ten thousand years, the Dragon Domain had intervened only once—and in that instance, they wiped out an entire empire with just a handful of individuals. How could that not instill fear?
“Don’t let him escape!” Chen Feng commanded. Lord Ziyuan, realizing the tables had turned, was already attempting to slip away.
Chen Feng was initially stunned by the imposing might of the five Dragon Clan elders, but after a moment, he reconciled with the situation. If he failed to utilize the supreme treasures left by the senior Flame Dragon, he would indeed be letting that benefactor down!
Previously, his focus had solely been on tempering himself and accelerating his cultivation. Now that he had reached the Dou Zun rank, it was time to fulfill the Flame Dragon senior’s aspirations!
Once his mind was settled, he dropped any pretense and, seeing Lord Ziyuan making a break for it, issued his command without hesitation.
“Yes, Lord Dragon God!” The two elders in the rear acknowledged the order, vanishing from the spot with a swoosh instantly.
Lord Ziyuan’s cultivation was at the peak of the Saint Domain. Even Feng Xiang and Leo could not stop him from fleeing. Although Chen Feng had issued the command, he privately doubted the two elders could succeed.
Leo and Feng Xiang focused their attention on the chase, both looking forward intently.
Lord Ziyuan’s cultivation was comparable to theirs. If these two elders couldn't retain him, it implied their power was not substantially higher than their own.
The three figures flickered in and out of sight in the air, utilizing instantaneous movement, and vanished beyond a hundred miles in the blink of an eye.
“Lord Ziyuan has escaped!” Leo and Feng Xiang exchanged a glance; the fear they felt was now markedly less intense.
Indeed, less than five minutes later, energy fluctuations rippled through the distant sky, and the two elders flew back, Lord Ziyuan nowhere in sight.
“He escaped!” Leo and Feng Xiang nodded at each other.
Although these two elders were the weakest among the five great Dragon Clan elders, the fact that they could not hold Lord Ziyuan suggested their cultivation level. The Great Elder, Long Yi, would only be slightly superior, naturally not vastly higher than their own echelon.
Realizing this, the two breathed a sigh of relief. They had been overly subservient earlier. As members of Divine Beast families, such conduct was unwarranted. However, the Dragon Clan’s initial assault with three spatial rifts had severely punished them, generating that deep-seated feeling of powerlessness and fear.
Now that they understood the power gap was not as insurmountable as initially feared, their awe dissipated.
“Congratulations to your Dragon Clan for rediscovering the Dragon God!” Feng Xiang straightened his back and cupped his hands: “However, your Dragon God just snatched something belonging to our Phoenix Clan. We expect it to be returned!”
Leo quickly chimed in: “And something belonging to our Qilin Clan!”
Long Yi stared coldly at the pair: “Does our Dragon God need to snatch what he desires?”
This tone was solemn and imposing, making Feng Xiang and Leo feel momentarily weak in the knees. Yet, they instantly straightened up—why fear? They were all Divine Beast families, and their strengths were relatively equal. Why should they be afraid of a mere human?
“Elder Long Yi, this item was indeed passed down in our Phoenix Clan. If you do not return it, I fear the Phoenix Clan may have to make a trip to the Dragon Domain to demand its restitution!” Feng Xiang invoked his Clan’s name.
“Our Qilin Clan will also exert every effort to secure this treasure!” Leo declared loudly in unison.
“Hmph, Qilin, Phoenix Clan, you are unworthy to challenge the Dragon Clan!” Long Yi roared, extending a finger and lightly flicking it. Two arcs of lightning ripped out like thunderbolts toward the two men.
Boom!
Feng Xiang and Leo didn’t even have time to react before they were slammed heavily onto the ground again. This time, Long Yi used significantly more force; both men were charred black, trembling violently, and severely injured!
“How can the difference… be this vast?” The two could hardly believe it.
Of the five great Dragon Clan elders, the two weakest were comparable to their own cultivation level. Surely the Great Elder couldn't be this monstrously powerful! One strike, and they couldn't hold their ground…
“Reporting to Lord Dragon God.” The two elders who had pursued Lord Ziyuan reappeared in the air: “Lord Ziyuan refused capture. Your subordinates have executed him!”
“Executed…” Feng Xiang and Leo felt their vision darken, nearly fainting.
Those two were gone for less than five minutes and had executed an expert of their own rank. They had assumed the elders had let Ziyuan escape…
With these five working in concert, forget the eight elders of their own clans—even adding another eight wouldn't be enough to match them…
Before their lamentations were even complete, they heard the “Lord Dragon God” say: “Oh? Killed him? Well, killing him is fine then!” His tone suggested he hadn't considered the matter significant at all.
“Lord Dragon God, the Ziyuan Demonic Territory dared to offend you. Your subordinate suggests we annihilate that force, lest every stray cat and dog believes the Dragon Domain is easy prey!” the last of the returning elders bowed deeply.
“Very well. You two go. Execute any who resist. If they surrender, then place the Ziyuan Demonic Territory under the jurisdiction of our Dragon Domain!” Chen Feng instructed.
The Ziyuan Demonic Territory was, after all, one of the three great powers of the overseas continent; total annihilation was impossible. If they could subjugate it, they would gain the capital needed to fulfill the Flame Dragon senior’s wish of planting the banner of the Dragon Domain across the myriad worlds.
“Yes, your subordinate obeys!” The two elders turned and vanished instantly, reappearing a thousand meters away. Judging by their trajectory, they headed straight for the Ziyuan Demonic Territory.
Feng Xiang and Leo exchanged another look, their eyes now filled with profound terror. They had initially expected this young “Lord Dragon God” to be measured and reluctant to antagonize the major powers, but he proved even crueler than the Great Elder Long Yi!
With such a “Lord Dragon God” presiding, the Dragon Domain’s dominance was inevitable. It seemed the major powers of the overseas continent were about to face a complete restructuring of their hierarchy…
Great Elder Long Yi gestured toward Feng Xiang and Leo: “Lord Dragon God, how shall these two be dealt with?”
“These two?” Chen Feng glanced at them.
That single look caused goosebumps to rise simultaneously on both men.
“One is an elder from Lingfeng, the other from Leidi. We shall not kill them.”
“Hoo…” Hearing this, both men breathed a huge sigh of relief. It seemed the youth wasn't entirely heartless. Just moments ago, they had been prepared to attack him themselves; had the Dragon Clan not arrived, they likely would have acted. Hearing the youth spare them now brought immense relief.
“However, let’s break both of their arms, cripple their cultivation, and send them back. That way, we avoid souring the goodwill between the Phoenix and Qilin Clans…”
Upon hearing this, Feng Xiang and Leo saw black, and both promptly fainted.
