These two won't listen to reason, and I don't know if they'll even make it out of the District Pavilion!” Chen Feng and Ling Feng walked in, uttering the sentiment softly.
“Make way… make way…” A rough voice immediately sounded behind them.
Turning, they saw a burly man and a figure resembling a mage approaching from either side. The one who spoke was the giant.
“Hollif, this is your seventh time. Just keeping your skin intact has been a stroke of luck; why are you back for more?” the mage mocked the sturdy man.
“I… I just feel my strength is sufficient this time, is that not allowed?” the bald, strong man, Hollif, retorted, his face flushed with anger.
“Haha… I hope you fare better this time. If you still fail, it will be truly embarrassing!” the mage continued, chuckling.
“Hmph! You only got your Lingzhang earlier than me! Once I’m certified today, I’ll have mine too. What’s so great about that!” Hollif shouted.
“You too? This time, I bet it will be like last time—you’ll crawl out with your tail between your legs!” The mage laughed, then strode forward, turning back to say, “Let me tell you, this time I completed a second-grade mission and am here to claim my merit points for advancement… Hahaha…” His words were filled with arrogance and smugness.
Hearing this, Hollif’s face instantly turned ashen: “I… I’ll show you my promotion today!” With that, he marched in right behind the mage.
Watching the two enter, the onlooker blinked a few times, shook his head, and began walking back. Obtaining the Lingshi badge was desirable, but it wasn't something someone like him could aspire to; he was just an ordinary nobody after all…
……………………………………………………………………
The access rights for the Shidi had drawn a large number of free-roaming experts to register. However, very few managed to pass the trials successfully.
As Chen Feng and Ling Feng approached the great hall, they were stopped before even entering the door.
“This is where Lingshi candidates register, not a place for children to come and play. Go back!” a middle-aged man in green shouted, blocking the doorway.
Seeing how young Chen Feng and Ling Feng looked, he assumed they were mischievous youths causing trouble, hence his words.
Chen Feng stated calmly, “We are here to register as Lingshi!”
“You two?” The green-robed man sized them up, an expression of disbelief spreading across his face. “I’m not looking down on you, but registering as a Lingshi is no joke; there’s mortal danger involved. Leave quickly, or I’ll call the guards!”
Chen Feng sighed helplessly, instantly releasing and then retracting his domain. A powerful aura exploded outward like a shockwave, forcing the green-robed man back several steps.
He had no intention of harming the man, so the middle-aged person was merely pushed back, not injured.
“A Dou Zun expert…” The middle-aged man was clearly knowledgeable and his expression immediately softened into a smile. “My apologies just now. Please, come in!”
Chen Feng and Ling Feng calmly walked into the hall.
“Judging by how young they look, perhaps they are Dou Zuns who have transformed from magical beasts. Still, it’s not easy even for a Dou Zun expert to qualify as a Lingshi!” The middle-aged man, though letting them pass, clearly held low expectations.
Having guarded this place daily, he had seen countless Dou Zuns perish within the testing grounds, which fueled his skepticism. Like fine wine, the older a Dou Zun, the richer their experience, and the greater their chances of survival.
Upon entering the hall, Chen Feng felt a sense of unreality.
The interior was virtually indistinguishable from a bar. Dozens of rows of seats held a hundred or so people, scattered about, drinking, chatting, and creating a constant, boisterous noise, completely unrestrained.
At the very front was a counter laden with all sorts of wines, beverages, and snacks.
Chen Feng and Ling Feng exchanged a look, both having the same thought: Is this truly where one tests to become a Lingshi? It looks more like a tavern?
The bartender, seeing them enter, smiled. “Are you two also here to meet someone? What can I get for you? Perhaps the Azure-Blue Crisp Ice Juice…”
“We don't need anything; we are here to register as Lingshi!” Chen Feng interrupted her question.
“…The Azure-Blue Wine is mellow and delicious, with an intoxicating aroma, perhaps more suitable for the lady…” the bartender trailed off, her face suddenly contorted in shock. “What? You want to register as a Lingshi? Did I hear that correctly…”
Her voice was loud, echoing throughout the entire hall, immediately drawing everyone’s attention to Chen Feng and the young woman at the front desk.
Chen Feng was highly irritated by her dramatic reaction, his two sword-like brows furrowing. “Is there a problem?”
“N-no, no problem,” the bartender quickly waved her hands. “It’s just that this is the first time I’ve seen someone so young come to register as a Lingshi…”
She finished speaking, then fumbled to retrieve a stack of documents from behind the counter, looking up. “To register as a Lingshi, you must first sign in, and you need to pay a registration fee of 5,000 lower-grade Spirit Stones!”
“Five thousand lower-grade Spirit Stones? What an exorbitant fee!” Chen Feng remarked.
“Of course, our main goal is to prevent people without the strength from registering recklessly… Ah, of course, esteemed sir, I don’t mean you…” The bartender grew flustered, her tense face turning red as she tried to explain.
Chen Feng ignored her, pushing forward an upper-grade Spirit Stone. “For both of us!”
One upper-grade Spirit Stone equals 1,000 lower-grade Spirit Stones, so one was exactly enough.
The bartender quickly accepted it, just as a burly man strode over—it was Hollif, the one mocked at the entrance.
Hollif shouted as soon as he arrived, “Process mine first! I must receive my Lingshi badge today and put that guy in his place!” His rough voice boomed across the hall.
The bartender clearly recognized him and said, “Esteemed Hollif, please wait a moment. After I process these two, I will assist you…”
“Are they here to register too?” Hollif glanced at Chen Feng and Ling Feng, a flicker of disdain in his eyes, but then he broke into a smile. “With them participating, my chances of winning the ‘Death Race’ just got even better, hahaha… Though I fear they won’t even make it past this stage before being eliminated!”
The Death Race was one of the stages of the Lingshi assessment.
Knowing Hollif’s temper, the bartender ignored him, took out the paperwork, and turned back to Chen Feng. “Name?”
“Orochi!”
“Age?”
“Seventeen.”
“…Seventeen? Wait… What? You are only seventeen?” The bartender let out another sharp yelp.
Her cry instantly drew the attention of nearly everyone present.
“Is there a problem?” Chen Feng was clearly annoyed by the woman’s behavior.
“N-no, no…” the bartender stammered, visibly nervous and breaking into a sweat.
She had processed many applicants, but this was the first time she had encountered a boy so young applying for the Lingshi position. Temporary assessments were risky; one could easily die during the tests. Generally, people wouldn't apply unless they were highly confident or possessed special means of escape.
She quickly finished Chen Feng’s paperwork and began processing Ling Feng’s. By the time Ling Feng stated her age as sixteen, the bartender was no longer surprised; too much surprise leads only to numbness.
With the procedures complete, the pair was directed to an inner chamber to wait.
As soon as the two left the hall, the noise inside immediately escalated.
“A sixteen and seventeen-year-old boy wanting to apply for Lingshi now? Aren't they just coming to cause trouble?”
“Who knows? Maybe they are just here for show. How profound can their cultivation be at such a young age? I bet they’ll be crying and running out after failing the first round!”
“Mmm, that makes sense…”
Everyone was discussing, unanimously convinced that Chen Feng and Ling Feng would fail the very first stage.
Hollif certainly shared this view. After paying his fee, he followed Chen Feng and Ling Feng into the inner chamber.
Upon entering, Chen Feng saw over a hundred people waiting. A sweep of his spiritual perception revealed that they were all Dou Zun level experts—one even possessed the strength of a Ninth Level Dou Zun.
After waiting for about an hour in a corner of the room, an elder and a middle-aged man walked in from inside.
“There are 148 people wanting to test for Lingshi today: 72 martial artists and 76 mages!” the middle-aged man explained to the elder.
The elder nodded, looked over the crowd, and then moved to a high platform on one side of the room, speaking loudly: “All of you are here to test for Lingshi. You are undoubtedly aware of the difficulty. The assessment is divided into four stages; only by passing all four will you be awarded the Lingshi badge. The Lingshi examination is held once a month, and today is the day. Last month, 213 people came to test, but regrettably, not a single one passed. I hope that today, one of you will achieve your goal and become a member of the Lingshi!”
As the elder finished speaking, a wave of commotion rose from below.
Two hundred and thirteen people tested last month, and not one passed—the difficulty of the assessment was self-evident. No wonder it was hard to become a Lingshi; that ratio alone indicated its severity.
Seeing the disturbance, the elder continued, “The four stages of the assessment are: the first, testing strength and reaction; the second, testing speed and agility; the third, the Death Race; and the final stage is a live duel. You must pass one stage before proceeding to the next, or… I trust you all can guess the consequences!”
With that, the elder ignored the rising clamor and turned to the middle-aged man. “You arrange the martial artists; I will arrange the mages.”
“Yes!” The middle-aged man acknowledged and descended the platform, shouting loudly, “Martial artists, please follow me this way!”
The elder called out from the other side, “Mages, please follow me this way!”
The first two stages differed for martial artists and mages, so they proceeded in different directions.
Chen Feng and the other 72 martial artists followed the middle-aged man out of the room and soon arrived before a small, dark door.
The middle-aged man explained, “This is the first stage, primarily testing strength and reaction speed. Above the door are two magic crystals, one red and one green. If the red crystal lights up, it indicates the person inside has either failed, died, or escaped through the side door. If the green crystal lights up, they have passed!”
Everyone looked and indeed saw two fist-sized crystal orbs above the black door.
“A final reminder: all attacks inside are real. If anyone cannot dodge them, please use the side door provided. We take no responsibility if you are killed inside!”
“Next, the first person enters!”
Hearing this warning, those who had been full of confidence suddenly felt their hearts pound, and they hesitated before the small door.
“What are you afraid of? If you won’t go, I will!” the Ninth Level Dou Zun shouted, striding in.
About five minutes later, just as everyone was growing anxious, the green crystal above the door suddenly lit up.
“First one through!” the middle-aged man announced.
Seeing someone pass eased the tension in the crowd slightly.
Next, a Third Level Dou Zun stepped inside, but less than half a minute later, a miserable cry was heard, and the red crystal flared to life—failed!
No one knew if the unlucky soul had died or escaped through the side exit.
Then, people continued to enter, some succeeding, some failing. Chen Feng observed carefully: any expert at Seventh Level Dou Zun or above managed to clear this stage smoothly. Since his spiritual perception surpassed that of a Ninth Level Dou Zun, he had nothing to worry about.
“Next!” the middle-aged man called.
It was then Chen Feng and Ling Feng’s turn.
“I’ll go first,” Ling Feng said calmly, stepping lightly inside. After a short while, the green crystal above lit up, signifying success.
Ling Feng’s own cultivation was at Seventh Level Dou Zun, coupled with the innate advantages of the Phoenix Clan, her passing was considered normal.
Seeing Ling Feng pass, Chen Feng stood up and strode toward the small black door.
………………………………………………………………………………
“Do you think this kid will get through smoothly?” Hollif, standing behind Chen Feng, asked the person next to him.
A man in black robes scanned Chen Feng with his spiritual perception and replied, “A mere Second Level Dou Zun. I think it’s risky.”
“Heh, if a seventeen-year-old Second Level Dou Zun can pass this, then I’ve been wasting my time these past seven times!” Hollif declared.
The man in black clearly knew of Hollif’s "glorious achievements" and nodded in sympathy.
Setting aside his youth, if a Second Level Dou Zun could pass, then logically, all of them should pass too.
“Didn’t that girl just pass smoothly?” another person chimed in. “I heard she was only sixteen, and her energy fluctuations seemed to be only Second Level Dou Zun power…”
This statement immediately silenced the speakers. After all, if they were going to cite the youth and low cultivation of the boy, how did the girl accompanying him pass so easily?
“Pure luck!” Hollif’s cheek twitched as he ground his teeth. “I refuse to believe two teenagers can both pass! I’ll bet this boy fails!” He then turned his face to the remaining crowd. “Who among you dares to take a bet with me?”
“I’ll bet!” a dark-skinned man called out.
“Good. Who else?”
…………
In a short time, the remaining people formed a small betting pool, but only the dark, thin fellow bet that Chen Feng would pass smoothly.
After nearly five minutes, someone suddenly yelled, “Look! The result is coming!”
The others quickly looked up at the door, where the red crystal flashed twice.
“Ha! So he failed, did he? Hand over the money!” Hollif roared immediately.
The dark, thin man’s face immediately twisted in anguish. He had lost big… betting against dozens of people single-handedly, he’d probably lose his very underclothes…
But before he could dwell on his misery, a loud BANG echoed. The red crystal shattered into countless fragments, followed by an earthquake-like roar from within the passage!
The green light lit up simultaneously.
The green light meant passage, but why did the red light explode?
Everyone exchanged bewildered glances, utterly stunned.
Even the dark, thin man momentarily forgot his joy, standing frozen, unsure of what had just happened.
………………………………………………………………………………
Entering the black door, Chen Feng was met with a long, narrow passage. Every dozen meters or so, there was a narrow side door—these must be the so-called escape routes.
As Chen Feng walked into the passage, intending to deploy his domain, he felt a strong suppression against it in the surroundings.
“No wonder Dou Zun experts fail here even with their domains. It seems domains cannot be unleashed here.”
Chen Feng mumbled to himself, stopping the deployment of his domain, and began walking forward slowly.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…”
As he moved, several sharp, whistling sounds shot in from all directions—likely magical arrows.
For a Dou Zun expert unable to deploy their domain, being subjected to magical arrow attacks at such close range was certainly a lethal situation.
However, due to his potent spiritual perception, Chen Feng reacted instantly. He agitated the power of his domain within his body and executed a Mind Teleportation spell, flashing ten meters away.
Bang, bang, bang… A few soft impacts sounded as all the magical arrows struck the spot where he had just been standing.
Even without his domain, being able to instantly teleport was akin to cheating, but Chen Feng didn't care as long as he achieved victory.
Crack… A bolt of lightning struck down from above just as he landed. Chen Feng performed another teleportation to evade it.
Attack after attack followed continuously for nearly a minute.
In those four minutes, none of the various attacks managed to touch him. Possessing the Fist Emperor’s techniques and powerful spiritual perception, it would have been shameful to be injured by such attacks now.
Dodging continuously, Chen Feng discerned a pattern: the time taken from the release of various attacks to them striking his previous position was approximately 0.11 seconds. This 0.11 seconds was too short for a normal person to react, and even Dou Zuns below Seventh Level would become mentally exhausted after four or five successive attacks and succumb to the onslaught.
These attacks were extremely sharp. A Dou Zun expert without an active domain wouldn't have a body that was excessively tough; thus, being shot dead was entirely plausible.
Seventh Level Dou Zuns, having mastered advanced domains, experienced a significant boost in spiritual perception, expanding from an initial radius of 30 meters to 100 meters. Reacting in such a short timeframe was more than sufficient, naturally ensuring passage.
He advanced over 300 meters under this barrage when suddenly the entire passage began to shake. The walls on both sides slowly started to press inward.
“It seems this is the test for strength!”
Originally, Chen Feng could have used Mind Teleportation to escape before the walls fully closed, but a sudden desire to test his limits made him halt, close his eyes slightly, and wait for the converging walls.
Standing still, every muscle in his body began to bulge in waves, rising from bottom to top. Twisted veins stood out like steel cables, radiating raw power.
He placed his arms against the approaching walls and pushed with all his might.
Screeeech…
The walls on both sides let out an ancient, grating cry, seemingly undeterred, continuing their slow advance inward.
Chen Feng’s face flushed deep red. Since emerging from the Ten Times Gravity Domain, he hadn't truly exerted his full physical strength. Now, the veins on his forehead bulged, and sweat streamed down his chin into his collar.
The wall’s pressure is immense. If I rely solely on physical power without the domain, I might not be able to push it open! Chen Feng thought.
Experts at Seventh Level Dou Zun and above could channel their Dou Qi to unleash overwhelmingly fierce strength in an instant, allowing them to resist such pressure. Chen Feng, relying purely on muscular power now, seemed to be slightly lacking.
“Fine, then I’ll add domain power!” Chen Feng gritted his teeth, his entire body’s strength surging abruptly.
His raw physical strength was nearly enough to counter the walls’ push, but the sudden eruption of domain power increased his might by nearly threefold!
To put it numerically, if Chen Feng’s base strength was 1 jin, then with his domain power unleashed, his strength instantly multiplied to 30,000 jin!
“Open!” he roared, his eyes snapping wide open. The purplish-red domain energy flowed like water through his meridians into the muscles of his arms. The muscles on his arms instantly swelled and turned purplish-red. A terrifying, unparalleled force erupted from his palms with his shout!
Crack, crack… BOOM!
The walls on both sides emitted two sharp cracks, immediately followed by a massive sound, like an explosion.
The walls, which had stood for an unknown age, crumbled under Chen Feng’s immense power!
“No way… I might have used too much force…” Chen Feng cried out miserably, deploying Mind Teleportation in several flashes to escape the passage.
As soon as he burst out, he heard a crash behind him—the collapse of the two walls meant the entire passage was now ruined!
Upon exiting, he saw the group who had already passed the first stage staring at him with wide, dumbfounded eyes.
Ling Feng walked up and asked, “Are you alright?”
Chen Feng replied, “I’m fine. It seems I used too much force; I pushed the passage until it collapsed…”
“…” The crowd.
………………………………………………………………………………
Fortunately, this District Pavilion was the largest in the Kenis Duchy and possessed a backup testing passage; otherwise, the assessments could not have continued for the next candidate.
The news that Chen Feng’s excessive strength had caused the entire passage to collapse spread quickly, and everyone looked at him with strange eyes, as if they were watching a monster.
It was understandable. The first trial tested nearly everyone’s absolute limit. After enduring a wave of attacks, their spirits and energy were already depleted. Under such circumstances, managing to push the wall to a standstill with brute force would have been a blessing; yet, he had managed to collapse it entirely...
It was utterly speechless.
But if they knew that Chen Feng had evaded those attacks without wasting any stamina, relying entirely on teleportation, they would surely shout “Cheating” in unison.
A while later, Hollylef passed the first trial as well. When he saw Chen Feng, his face was as red as a beet.
No one would be happy after losing a significant amount of money.
But difficult as the sight was, he was incomparably shocked internally... Causing the entire passage to collapse with sheer power... Good heavens, was this even human? No, was he truly a Second-Tier Dou Zun?
Including Chen Feng and Ling Feng, there were 28 people who passed the first trial. That shadowy figure who bet on Chen Feng failing also managed to pass.
Out of 72 people, only 28 remained; more than half were eliminated in the first stage.
………………………………………………………………………………
The middle-aged man walked forward again, standing before the group. He said, "Passing the first trial proves you have succeeded halfway. Next is the assessment for the second stage."
With that, he led everyone into an immense hall. Hundreds of spheres floated in the air; no one knew what they were.
The middle-aged man pointed to the orbs above and explained, "These are special magical props called 'Flying Orbs.' Their speed in flight and evasion rivals the full flight speed of a Ninth-Tier Dou Zun. The second trial tests speed and agility. Therefore, each of you will have one minute. Based on the number of 'Flying Orbs' you catch within that minute, your rankings will be set. Twenty is the passing score!"
"Also, I must mention this: you may only use your Domain for flight. If you use your Domain to lock onto a 'Flying Orb,' it will explode immediately. If you cause even one 'Flying Orb' to explode, regardless of how many you caught, you will automatically be judged as failed and barred from participating in the Ling Shi~ Assessment for half a year!"
"The speed is comparable to a Ninth-Tier Dou Zun, and we can't use our Domains—how are we supposed to catch them?" Everyone felt a knot tighten in their stomachs.
If they used their Domains, locking onto the 'Flying Orbs' would be simple, but trying to catch things faster than arrows relying solely on flight would definitely be extremely difficult.
"It's easier than you think; otherwise, why would we say obtaining the Ling Shi insignia is so difficult?" Hollylef shouted out.
Seeing that everyone had finished voicing their concerns, the middle-aged man spoke, "Now, please follow me outside. You may only enter when your name is called!"
The group followed behind them out of the hall and into a separate room. The walls of this room held a magic display inscribed with each person's name and serial number.
Chen Feng looked and saw that, for some unknown reason, he was ranked last. Ling Feng was second to last.
"It must be because I pushed down their testing wall earlier with too much force. They probably put me last to prevent further destruction!" He understood the intent after a moment of thought. If he was last, any structural damage he caused wouldn't affect the rest of the day's assessments.
"Number one, Arnold!" the middle-aged man called out.
Arnold was that Ninth-Tier Dou Zun expert.
The Ninth-Tier Dou Zun stepped out. No sound could be heard from this room; they had no idea what was happening in the hall. But everyone was extremely nervous. Catching twenty 'Flying Orbs' in one minute was not an easy task even for a Ninth-Tier Dou Zun; without skill and luck, it was entirely impossible.
Two people were sweating through their palms from sheer tension.
Upon reaching the Dou Zun cultivation level, one could almost perfectly control their metabolism, yet they were still sweating, which demonstrated the intensity of their nervousness.
Perhaps the least anxious among the remaining group were Chen Feng and Ling Feng. Chen Feng narrowed his eyes slightly, sitting on a stool as if unconcerned with everything. Ling Feng’s face was utterly placid, showing no hint of nervousness. In her eyes, this Ling Shi insignia was optional; if it weren't for Chen Feng, she wouldn't have come at all.
"Clang..." A crisp sound rang out, signaling the end of the one-minute period.
"So fast?" Everyone felt time had flown by.
"Look at the number that came out!" someone roared.
Everyone looked up and saw a vibrant red numeral written after Arnold's name on the magic wall—
27? That meant he passed!
The crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief. Just then, the room door opened, and Arnold strode in, his face beaming with excitement.
Anyone who passes will be happy, but where there is joy, there is also discontent.
Only an Eighth-Tier Dou Zun managed to catch 27—how many could I catch?
"Second..."
Another shout came from outside.
The second person was a Seventh-Tier Dou Zun, but unfortunately, he only caught 16, resulting in his failure.
Number 13 was Hollylef. He lived up to his reputation as a seven-time participant, ripping open his clothes to use them as a net, managing to catch an astonishing 31! Four more than the Ninth-Tier Dou Zun.
When he returned, excitement shone on his face. He raised an eyebrow, staring pointedly at the dark, thin fellow, seemingly to taunt him.
He also glanced at Chen Feng, seeing him with narrowed eyes, seemingly detached from everything. He muttered to himself, "You got lucky that time, but this time relies on speed and agility. Let's see how you pass this, kid!"
Thinking this, he said it out loud, slapping the dark, thin fellow's shoulder, "I'll make another bet with you..."
The dark fellow asked, "What are we betting on?"
Hollylef chuckled, "Naturally, it's about that kid. I bet he won't catch twenty!"
"What's the stake?" the dark, thin fellow replied.
"The money I won just now!" Hollylef declared.
"Deal! I'll bet with you..." The dark, thin fellow agreed readily...
............
The dark, thin fellow was number 22. Whether it was luck or using the same method as Hollylef, he managed to catch exactly 20, barely passing.
The ranking list soon appeared. Hollylef ranked first, no wonder he was so excited.
Just then, it was Ling Feng's turn. She slowly stood up and looked at Chen Feng.
"Go," Chen Feng nodded slightly.
Ling Feng smiled faintly, turned, and walked into the hall.
"Clang..." The one-minute bell sounded. Ling Feng slowly walked back in. The crowd looked up at the magic wall and were instantly stunned—the top position on the leaderboard had shifted. After the name "Mai Shiranui," a bright red number appeared!
Ling Feng's registered name was Mai Shiranui.
"What? Is there a mistake!" No one could believe their eyes.
A Ninth-Tier Dou Zun had only caught 27 just moments ago. How could this young girl, who looked like only a Second-Tier Dou Zun, catch so many?
Everyone found it unbelievable.
However, Chen Feng found the result perfectly normal. Ling Feng’s flight speed was comparable to his own—a speed faster than a Ninth-Tier Dou Zun. If she couldn't catch that many, there would truly be a problem.
"Number 28, Orochi!" Chen Feng’s name was called from the room.
Chen Feng stretched, stood up, and walked straight out.
As soon as he stepped out of the room, the entire chamber erupted.
"How many 'Flying Orbs' do you think he'll catch?"
"I say at least 30!"
"How is that possible?"
"He came with the girl. That girl caught that many; I guess he won't be weak either. 30 is possible!"
............
Analyzing this way, Hollylef's face instantly turned grim. He roared boisterously, "I don't believe he can catch that many!"
"Even if he doesn't get 40, if he gets 30, I win," the dark, thin fellow laughed.
"Do you think 30 is easy to catch?" Hollylef retorted. "I still believe..."
However, as he spoke, he felt shaky inside. If someone had told him before that a sixteen-year-old girl could catch forty 'Flying Orbs' in one minute, he would never have believed it. But having witnessed it firsthand, he now felt anything was possible.
"God, please let him not catch twenty, not catch twenty..." Hollylef mumbled.
But this time, Heaven seemed to be playing a cruel joke on him, or perhaps simply ignoring his pleas. Just as he was praying intently, he heard a collective gasp from the crowd.
"How is this possible..."
Everyone froze when they saw the vibrant red number behind Orochi on the magic wall.
………………………………………………………………………………
Chen Feng walked into the hall and looked at the spheres dancing in the air.
"You have one minute. The time starts now!" The middle-aged man's voice echoed throughout the hall through the magical communication device.
Chen Feng pushed off the ground, his muscles tensing instantly. With one stomp, he launched himself into the air.
He utilized no Domain power whatsoever, relying entirely on the Wukong Technique!
"Whoosh!"
He vanished from his original spot and instantly appeared in front of a 'Flying Orb.' Dou Zun experts couldn't teleport without their Domains, but he could use Mind Teleportation! Thus, his "cheating" career resumed.
The figure in the air flashed, instantly disappearing and reappearing. With every flash, a 'Flying Orb' was captured and tossed into a bag held in his other hand. This bag was specifically for holding the flying orbs; he had collected them at the door before entering the hall.
Only half a minute had passed, and Chen Feng stopped, standing perfectly still, looking up at the ceiling. There wasn't a single 'Flying Orb' left. In half a minute, he had managed to capture all of them and place them in the bag.
"'Flying Orbs' are too few; not enough to catch!" Chen Feng sighed, waiting for the time to expire.
"Clang..." A crisp sound rang out.
"Number 28, Orochi, 40 Flying Orbs..."
A string of scarlet numbers instantly appeared on the magic wall.
