Finished the third watch, promising completion, asking for recommendation votes, asking for praise..... "God, that was exhilarating! Just a slight drawback—I wish I could have jumped in a couple of times myself!" "I think you should forget it. Everyone knows you're the most famous punching bag in our class. Every time we fought another class, you were the one who got beaten the worst." "Heh heh, but we had Instructor Wang backing us up today! Otherwise, do you think the two of us could have taken on that many?" "Instructor Wang’s combat power was explosive today. Last time during the skirmish with the Shamate, he took a few hits, but today’s opponents were much tougher, and he achieved total victory!"
Inside the taxi, Fatty Long and Hazy Mouse chattered excitedly, having completely forgotten about any potential retaliation.
Fatty Long, with his substantial rear, occupied the front passenger seat. Sun Donghao sat behind him, Wang Zhuo was in the middle, and Qi Fei was by the left window.
Fatty Long turned around and grinned at Qi Fei: "Sister Qi, that move you pulled was perfectly timed. If it weren't for you, Instructor Wang’s head would have definitely been split open by that kid!"
"Even if I hadn't helped, he wouldn't have connected," Qi Fei replied, her face flushed from the excitement, chuckling lightly. "You didn't see it, Wang Zhuo’s leg was already raised. If I hadn't blocked it, it would have kicked that guy right in the body."
Fatty Long exaggeratedly dropped his jaw into an 'O' shape: "Whoa! Does Instructor Wang have eyes in the back of his head too?"
Sun Donghao chuckled: "That's called having eyes everywhere and ears in all directions. Do you think his title of 'Action Choreographer' is just for show?"
Wang Zhuo smiled silently. He was extremely satisfied with today's outcome. Lately, as he became more adept with his Clairvoyance ability, his hand-eye coordination had improved dramatically. Basically, the moment an opponent’s muscle twitched, he could predict the target of their movement. When striking, it was as if he could foresee every action, allowing him to easily secure a complete victory when strength levels were comparable.
That sneak attack from Tietan at the last moment? He had already seen it in his peripheral vision. Indeed, just as Qi Fei said, even without her intervention, he could have easily handled Tietan.
"Right," Qi Fei suddenly remembered something and asked, "What is Sheng Xin Pawn Shop? Why did you tell them about it?"
Wang Zhuo laughed: "Sheng Xin is the place that deals with lowlifes like them. I was worried they wouldn't accept the defeat and would come looking for trouble with Fatty Long and Hazy Mouse later."
"You know people at Sheng Xin?"
Fatty Long jumped in quickly: "One of his neighborhood uncles is the boss of Sheng Xin, and he treats Wang Zhuo really well."
During their swimming sessions these past few days, Fatty Long had learned Cheng Tiankun's whereabouts from Wang Zhuo and was somewhat aware of Sheng Xin Pawn Shop and Ding Ren.
In his view, Wang Zhuo was his backer, and Sheng Xin was Wang Zhuo's major backer. With these two powerful patrons, Fatty Long felt he could stand a bit taller, which was why he dared to be so arrogant toward Da Yu and the others today.
"The bond between friends is higher than the sky and broader than the earth; those moments, we will surely remember..."
A mobile phone ringtone suddenly cut through the air. Sun Donghao answered, spoke a few sentences, then covered the mouthpiece and asked, "My brother is calling; he wants to know if we want to meet him."
Wang Zhuo asked, "The one from 110?"
"Yeah," Sun Donghao nodded. "He says those guys have already fled, and the responsibility for this incident doesn't lie with us. If we have time, we can go back and give statements."
Wang Zhuo looked at Qi Fei. She shook her head: "I won't go. I need to go home and change."
Wang Zhuo also shook his head: "I'll take Sister Qi home."
"Then we won't go either," Sun Donghao replied, sending a message before hanging up after a few more words.
Wang Zhuo reached forward and patted the driver's shoulder: "Master, pull over."
"Why get out here?" Fatty Long, watching Wang Zhuo pay the fare, followed him out of the cab, puzzled.
After the taxi drove away, Wang Zhuo finally spoke: "Take separate taxis home. You two shouldn't wander around either; just stay put at home for the next couple of days."
Sun Donghao asked, "You don't want that driver to know where we're going, do you?"
"Correct," Wang Zhuo smiled. "When we left, those thugs likely memorized the license plate number of that car. If they look into it, they’ll find your place."
"This counter-surveillance skill," Fatty Long exclaimed, shaking his head repeatedly and giving a thumbs-up. "Incredible! Professional!"
Sun Donghao patted Fatty Long’s shoulder: "Go home and get online. Don't come out for the next two days."
The two taxis separated on the street. Wang Zhuo and Qi Fei sat side-by-side in the back seat of the car, exchanging a knowing smile.
"Sister Qi, where do you live?"
"I live in Jiangyuan. Why don't we drop you off first?"
Wang Zhuo pondered for a moment. Going to Jiangyuan meant crossing districts; the taxi ride would take at least forty or fifty minutes.
"How about this: my place isn't far from here. You can quickly go shower and change clothes first?"
They had rushed out from the swimming pool, leaving no time to shower and change. Wearing damp swimsuits was uncomfortable, and the pool water wasn't entirely hygienic; leaving it on for too long would affect their health.
Qi Fei hesitated: "Going to your place... it might not be convenient, right?"
She genuinely wanted an immediate shower and to change out of her swimsuit, but showing up unannounced at a young man's home to bathe felt awkward, especially if his elders were present.
"It’s fine!" Wang Zhuo grinned slyly. "I just bought that place. No one lives there yet; my family doesn't even know. It’s just up ahead, only three minutes away!"
"Alright then, I'll go to your place," Qi Fei agreed, feeling an inexplicable flutter in her heart for some reason.
The taxi stopped at the side entrance of the Hong Kang Sheng Shi complex. They both got out. A warm summer breeze brushed past, invigorating and refreshing.
"This complex is nice; you have good taste," Qi Fei said, nodding repeatedly as they walked shoulder-to-shoulder beneath the tall plane trees, observing the neighborhood's environment and amenities.
Wang Zhuo scratched his head and laughed: "What do I know about choosing houses? I just went for the most expensive one."
Qi Fei couldn't help but smile faintly: "A little nouveau riche."
Taking the elevator to the sixteenth floor, the top level, Wang Zhuo explained: "This complex doesn't have higher buildings; the sixteenth floor is the highest. I chose the largest layout—two hundred sixteen square meters."
Qi Fei asked, "Why choose the top floor? Repairs during the rainy season can be troublesome."
"You'll see in a moment," Wang Zhuo played coy, leading Qi Fei into the apartment.
Sunlight streamed freely through the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, splashing across the living room floor. The room was spacious and bright, with understated, elegant decoration. Qi Fei sincerely complimented it.
"Follow me."
Wang Zhuo led her to the kitchen and pointed toward the platform outside: "The answer is right here."
Only then did Qi Fei realize that the top floor included an approximately thirty-square-meter platform. It wasn't only decorated with a few potted plants but also featured a small pool built into it, where lotus flowers grew and koi fish swam.
"You didn't build all this, did you?"
"It’s from the real estate company. They temporarily stored these here until their new model unit was decorated."
The two approached the lotus pond. The water was crystal clear, and streaks of colorful koi darted among the lotus leaves. Qi Fei's childlike spirit flared up; she kicked off one of her sandals and dipped her small, mutton-fat-like foot into the water.
The water, warmed by the sun, felt pleasantly hot around her foot. Qi Fei couldn't resist kicking a few times, splashing up a ripple that disturbed several swimming fish.
"Go take a shower first. I'll show you around after," Wang Zhuo suggested.
"Okay."
Upon seeing the bathroom, Qi Fei was slightly surprised. It was constructed entirely of frosted glass panels, allowing shadows of the person inside to be visible from the outside!
However, she quickly relaxed. This kind of frosted glass bathroom was currently trendy. In reality, it only revealed vague human silhouettes; it was impossible to make out any clear details.
Even so, Qi Fei felt a blush creep up her cheeks and shyly asked Wang Zhuo, "You're not going to peek at me, are you?"
Wang Zhuo grinned widely and shook his head quickly.
