My update speed just can't keep up with those people working standard office hours—they can pump out ten thousand, fifteen thousand words a day. As for me, I type agonizingly slowly, averaging barely a thousand characters per hour.

Yesterday, my supervisor told me if I couldn't finish the work, I should just leave and not expect a cent. It’s so depressing. Is this really how the real world operates? How is it that the strangers online, whom I’ve never even met, are kinder than those around me? My computer's CPU fan broke, and I asked a colleague who happened to be traveling to Xining—we’re over 500 kilometers away—if he could pick one up for me. He refused, saying it was too much trouble. Yet, in my book, I casually mentioned it, and already several readers have offered to buy one for me!

Sometimes I have to wonder, has human nature really withered down to such a thin state?

Ah, but this book has, at least, allowed me to meet so many friends. Though I don't know their names, I often feel they are infinitely better than those in my actual reality!

Huh? How did I drift off topic? I was supposed to be campaigning for monthly tickets, and now I'm philosophizing about life! Sweat...

Last night, I ended up sleeping at the internet café again. By the time I finished the two chapters around 1 AM, it was too late to go back home, and even if I did, I wouldn't know how to set up the automated release for that morning's chapter to upload on time.

I'm heading back to the project department for lunch now. After eating, I have to go back to the construction site. I genuinely hope that when I return from the site at six this evening, I'll see the monthly ticket count has broken into the triple digits...
