Though the foul temper in his chest had been vented this time, he found no satisfaction, only a strange sense of deflation!
His success in killing Jimmy hadn't stemmed from his own strength, but from the aid of the Pterodactyl swarm. Without them, facing Baron Ans, a third-level Dou Shi, alone would have left him feeling utterly powerless!
With a sigh, his desire for true strength intensified. If he returned to Dragon Mountain with the swarm, he could certainly exact vengeance, wiping out the three families in Dragon Mountain Town who had harmed him! Yet, for this reliance on external power, he felt an inexplicable, deep-seated revulsion.
The humiliation he suffered, he had to repay with his own hands. Using outside help was the mark of a coward! He absolutely had to reach the Dou Shi cultivation level quickly; only then could he seek revenge!
Chen Feng clenched his fists, his solitary figure perched atop the Pterodactyl King, looking profoundly desolate from afar. “Are you… that black-robed person from that day?” Judy followed closely behind the swarm, moving unhindered to the outskirts of Gnam Town, shouting up at the silhouette in the sky!
Chen Feng turned, glancing down at the young woman who was faintly sweating. He had noticed her the moment she appeared amidst the ruins of the Governor’s Mansion, but he had paid her no mind whatsoever. She was merely a girl, with no connection to him, save for the fifth-level Dou Core that had undoubtedly vanished in the Pterodactyls’ onslaught.
Chen Feng paid no heed to the immense value of a fifth-level Dou Core. In this world, if one possessed formidable strength, anything could be acquired; he cared little for money, an external possession. His sole focus now was mastering how to elevate his cultivation and unleash more of the skills of the King of Fighters! “Yagami Iori!” Chen Feng murmured lowly, looking at the attire he wore, which was identical to the one in the game.
His favorite character in the King of Fighters series had always been Yagami Iori. He held immense admiration for this cool and stylish man—a figure burdened by rebellion and solitude, an unparalleled powerhouse who scorned all supreme existences in the world, an arrogant figure always making a bloody entrance in the KOF saga! He was arguably the most popular figure, yet also the most feared.
Truthfully, in his past life, he never imagined he would one day wear Iori’s clothes and possess his power that surpassed all limits! Now that it was realized, he felt an indescribable loneliness settle in his heart. Perhaps he was inherently a solitary person, one who could not afford attachments or constraints. After battling Qilin and being inexplicably teleported here, he was rescued by John and Yas. He did not wish to owe anyone favors, nor did he want to be shackled by this feeling of warmth! Living alongside John and Yas was too placid—so placid it made him feel like going mad! Under the influence of the Dark Qi Cyclone power, he felt he would eventually collapse under such a mundane existence! “Tss-tss!” Chen Feng scratched his mass of crimson hair. To grow stronger, he needed constant combat. Only in battle could he find the true thrill of life! As the thought struck him, his fingers tightened slightly, and several strands of bright red hair detached, drifting slowly down into the air. The Pterodactyl King seemed to comprehend Chen Feng’s mood. With a roar, the entire swarm thundered across the sky, flying far toward the horizon…
Judy gently picked up a lock of red hair floating down onto the snow, gazing at the retreating figure in the sky, suddenly overcome by a pang of loss. In the brief moment he turned his head, she had caught a clear glimpse of his features. Not handsome, perhaps, but the inherent coldness and arrogance in his demeanor were qualities unmatched by the self-proclaimed elites among the youths in the Imperial Capital. What was this person’s name? Who was he? And who was his master? Judging purely by his appearance, the red-haired youth could not be much older than she was. Yet, his power… Recalling how he reduced a fifth-level Dou Shi to ash with a single move inside the ‘Foot’ chamber sent an inexplicable chill down her spine! If only he could join her for that upcoming event! With him, victory would be absolutely guaranteed. But given his icy demeanor, would he ever agree? Judy shook her head secretly, wrapping the few strands of scarlet hair in a handkerchief, placing it tenderly over her chest, and remained standing there, lost in thought! However, whatever he was, he had gifted her a fifth-level Dou Core. How could she rest easy without offering thanks in person! Since he could command so many Pterodactyls, and the Pterodactyls resided in the Glacial Demon Garden, she was certain she could find him waiting outside the Glacial Demon Garden. Her Dou Qi surged, and her body moved like a nimble swallow across the snow, swiftly speeding toward the direction of the Glacial Demon Garden!
Chen Feng returned to his senses when he reached the mountain hollow where he had first encountered the Pterodactyl King. “True Dragon Lord, we…” The Pterodactyl King, Leander, looked at Chen Feng with hesitation, speaking haltingly. Chen Feng had not brought the seventeen Wyverns with him; he had left them behind. Seeing Chen Feng arrive now, they greeted him with cheerful cries. “What is it?” Chen Feng glanced at him. “True Dragon Lord, where do we go now?” Leander inquired. “Where?” Chen Feng was momentarily stunned. This question stumped him too. He sought strength, yet did not wish to be bound by kinship. Although he wanted to leave this place, where should he head? “Where can I receive better training?” Chen Feng suddenly asked. “For tempering, the best location is naturally the Glacial Demon Garden,” Leander shifted his tone. “However, True Dragon Lord, as a member of the Dragon race, slaughtering some low-level magical beasts is appropriate…” The Glacial Demon Garden? Chen Feng shook his head. A place rife with magical beasts and ferocious creatures was not where he was going. Having just left Dragon Mountain, he lacked the fortitude to immediately venture into another desolate wilderness! What he lacked now was not experience teetering on the brink of life and death, but a systematic understanding of Dou Qi, of power itself! In his past life, he was just an ordinary college student, utterly ignorant of cultivation and growing stronger; he would have steered clear of even two petty thugs on the road. Transmigrating with the consciousness of a simpleton, his mind contained only the suddenly surfaced memories of the King of Fighters, leaving him a complete novice regarding the application and principles of Dou Qi! Although he could gradually grow stronger by relying on the sudden KOF memories, this passive acquisition annoyed him intensely. To genuinely become a strong practitioner, he needed to forge his own path! With this realization, Chen Feng asked, “Where can I systematically study martial skill knowledge?” “Study martial skills?” Leander was taken aback, then after a moment, replied, “If you wish to acquire knowledge, the place is naturally Tianfeng Academy! The continent’s foremost Magical Martial Academy!” “An academy?” Chen Feng blinked, a bitter smile touching his lips. He hadn't expected such a thing to exist here! But Leander was correct; an academy was indeed the best venue for gaining knowledge! Yet, the thought of enrolling in an academy felt utterly incongruous for him. If anyone claimed Yagami Iori would enroll as a student, any KOF fan would likely beat that person to a pulp! If Iori dared to be a student, who else would dare to be a teacher? Orochi? (Or perhaps sweeping the world? The author’s self-indulgent note, which may be ignored.) Sighing, he shook his head. “Are there any other options?” “Apprentice yourself to a powerful expert!” Leander offered.
Seeing that these were the only methods Leander could suggest, Chen Feng decided to end the discussion. “You lead these Pterodactyls back to the Glacial Demon Garden!” Leander understood his meaning. “And what about you, True Dragon Lord?” “Me?” Chen Feng shook his head, falling silent. “Leander wishes to follow the True Dragon Lord!” Leander quickly stated. “Follow? No need!” Chen Feng shook his head and stepped onto the ground, gazing at the setting sun. The mountain wind whipped through his crimson hair, making him appear quite dashing. Although Leander desired to follow, one look at Chen Feng’s expression told him the decision was final; nothing he possessed the authority or nerve to change regarding the True Dragon Lord’s resolutions! “True Dragon Lord, you are departing. These Wyverns…” Leander hesitated again. These Wyverns were consecrated by Chen Feng’s Dragon Blood sacrifice. As their ranks increased, they naturally would no longer obey the Pterodactyl King. Since they were Pterodactyls by origin, they couldn't join the true Dragon race either, leaving them temporarily uncertain! Chen Feng grasped their dilemma. With a wave of his hand, the seventeen Wyverns, as if sharing a telepathic link, flew to surround him. Chen Feng was no Dragon Speaker; he didn't know how to communicate with them. Just as he was about to ask Leander to relay his intentions, a strange sensation arose in his mind! With a moment of deep thought, Chen Feng recalled the origin of this feeling—it was the persistent will that had flooded into his mind during the Dragon Blood Sacrifice with this group of Wyverns! It hadn't been strong then, but now, with the dragons gathered around him, he felt that stubborn willpower clearly! And this willpower grew more intense as the Wyverns drew closer! It seemed that when he first subdued them, they merely felt gratitude, not this fierce level of subservience. After so many days, these Wyverns had finally surrendered their will to him without reservation! Dragon Blood Sacrifice? Willpower? What possible use could this willpower have? Could it enable some special form of communication, like a soul contract? If communication were possible, how should it be done? Since it was called a Dragon Blood Sacrifice, did it mean he should merge this willpower with the Dragon Blood within his body?
The moment Chen Feng conceived of it, he acted. He slowly calmed his consciousness and began merging the willpower lingering in his mind with the Flame Dragon bloodline within his body! To his surprise, the moment they merged, this drop of blood infused with the collective will of the dragons suddenly surged uncontrollably within him, as if trying to combust! “Mad blood!” Chen Feng’s expression changed drastically!
