Judy watched Jimmy leave the room, slowly bringing her hands out from behind her back, rising from ** and walking to the door. She had long since broken free of the special ropes binding her hands and feet; lying down ** pretending to be helpless was her strategy for escape.
Having been captured and brought here by Jimmy, the perimeter outside would certainly be heavily guarded. If she truly wanted to escape, there was only one way: take Jimmy hostage at the first opportunity!
Otherwise, how could she, with only the cultivation of a Fourth-Tier Fighter, possibly navigate her way out of the City Lord's Mansion, teeming with experts? Gazing at the ancient-looking dagger in her palm, Judy sighed softly.
This dagger was a gift from her father last year—a magical dagger! It was one of her most cherished possessions.
With this dagger, her actual strength could allow her to contend with a Sixth-Tier Fighter! If Jimmy had only stepped a little closer moments ago, she could have used this dagger to subdue him and simultaneously reclaim the Spirit Core the man in the black robe had given her.
Thinking of the black-robed figure, a flicker of guilt crossed Judy’s face. She didn't know this person's origins, yet he had been so generous, casually gifting her a Fifth-Tier Spirit Core.
And now, she hadn't been able to protect it! However, one question constantly weighed on her mind: why was this person being so good to her?
Did he, like others, desire her beauty and seek to flatter her? Although the black-robed man wore a cloak at the time, she could clearly sense that he held no other intentions towards her!
She knew very well the devastating effect her appearance could have. Putting aside the young nobles, she could easily find a hundred men in the Blood Wolf Mercenary Corps alone who admired her!
Especially the Vice-Captain, Griff, who was her most loyal follower. If her father hadn't issued the order this time, he probably would have followed her!
But if Griff had come, she wouldn't have been captured. Griff had just broken through to the Fighter Master realm.
If a Fighter Master had been present, how would Jimmy have dared to use force against her! Thinking of this, her thoughts drifted back to the black-robed man again.
Who exactly was this person? He clearly didn't take the City Lord's son's status seriously, killing his subordinate outright!
And that cerulean flame that instantly incinerated a person—the memory alone sent a chill down her spine. Shaking her head, slightly bewildered, she quietly pushed the door open, only to find the small courtyard surprisingly empty!
With a light leap, her body silently slipped out of the courtyard like a nimble wildcat. As the Third Young Miss of the Blood Wolf Mercenary Corps, her status was highly respected.
Her father, Old Wolf Head, doted on her, meaning she could have virtually anything she wanted within the Corps! Yet, despite her high standing, she hadn't developed a spoiled temperament; instead, she practiced diligently and held herself to strict standards, just like everyone else.
As a result, she reached the cultivation of a Fourth-Tier Fighter by the age of fifteen. With her Fourth-Tier Wind Attribute Fighter cultivation, she moved with exceptional agility within the City Lord’s Mansion.
“Roar…” Just as she wondered why the entire compound was devoid of people, she suddenly heard a colossal dragon roar from the sky. A moment later, she saw a red-haired youth standing atop a gigantic Pterodactyl, issuing a command that shocked her to the core: “Kill them all!” “It’s him!” Judy instantly recognized his voice from that single sentence and knew his identity!
It was none other than the black-robed figure who had given her the Spirit Core! The Pterodactyl King received the command, roared once, and magic immediately rained down from the sky as if it were limitless.
Thousands of Pterodactyls could not simultaneously cast spells, or the air would be depleted of magical elements, creating a magical vacuum. The principle of magic involved forcefully gathering the ambient magical elements using the caster’s own mana to complete the spell.
A magical vacuum zone referred to a situation where too much magic, or magic of excessively high power, was used in one location, causing all the magical elements in that area to be absorbed, leaving the region temporarily devoid of any magical presence. The Pterodactyl King had actually brought three thousand Pterodactyls this time—three thousand Third-Tier Magical Beasts.
If they cast spells simultaneously, given the power of a Third-Tier spell, it would not only cause a magical vacuum zone but would surely induce spatial distortions and a series of other questions. The Pterodactyl King naturally understood this, so he divided them into three squadrons, each composed of a thousand Pterodactyls, to cast spells concurrently!
The power unleashed by a thousand Pterodactyls casting spells at once was immense. All one could see was massive rocks, water jets, hailstones, fire… spells of various attributes howling across the sky, simultaneously bombarding the relatively small area within the courtyard.
The ground instantly transformed into a living hell! However, the Anle Group, composed of 500 Ninth-Tier Fighters, was incredibly formidable.
Most of the thousand third-tier spells struck their position, yet they failed to even breach the surrounding Dou Qi shield! The moment Chen Feng shouted "Kill them all," Baron Ans and Jimmy were already surrounded by these 500 men.
Fighters possess immense power in close combat, but without particularly potent Dou Techniques to aid their ranged attacks, they become ineffective. It was like if Chen Feng lacked the Dark Hook Hand skill from the King of Fighters, he would have to charge right up to an opponent a hundred meters away before he could land a strike.
With the Pterodactyl swarm flying overhead, the 500 Fighters, no matter how strong, couldn't reach them. They were simply receiving blows, resulting in a strange spectacle: a cloud-like mass of Pterodactyls overhead continuously showering magic downwards, while a group of Fighters on the ground could only keep emitting Dou Qi to form an energy shield, desperately defending themselves!
After 5 seconds, the first group of 1,000 Pterodactyls finished casting their spells, and the second group immediately followed up. During this brief interlude, the magical elements in the air had already begun to recombine.
“Boom, boom, boom, boom!” Explosions erupted incessantly. Several surrounding walls of the courtyard had already collapsed due to the turbulent air currents.
As the magical bombardment continued, a Fighter in the Anle Group finally ran out of Dou Qi and was blasted into a shower of gore! Once the first casualty occurred, this type of attrition spread like a plague.
By the time each group of Pterodactyls had unleashed three barrages, fewer than ten Fighters remained standing on the ground. Baron Ans and Jimmy, protected by the desperate efforts of these men, remained completely unharmed.
Baron Ans looked at the corpses littering the ground, the arrogance he had displayed earlier completely vanished. He never imagined that the power structure he had painstakingly built over such a long period would disintegrate under the enemy's attack in less than three minutes!
He had thought the arrival of the Pterodactyl swarm was for an alliance, to realize his dream of unifying the Luoqi Empire. He never expected they were here for revenge.
The intense contrast nearly drove him to a mental breakdown. “Why?
Why did you offend that True Dragon Lord!” he shrieked, gripping his son. The current situation existed solely because his most favored son, Jimmy, had crossed paths with that red-haired youth!
Jimmy stared at the youth riding the Pterodactyl King, feeling as if he were dreaming. Heavens, what had he done… Ignoring the farce unfolding between the father and son on the ground, Chen Feng stamped his foot on the Pterodactyl King: “Kill them all!” The Pterodactyl King roared, and another series of explosions echoed from the sky.
Baron Ans and Jimmy had no time to resist before they were blown into shreds of meat! When the thick smoke cleared, the once magnificent City Lord’s Mansion was unrecognizable.
The exquisitely crafted buildings had been razed to the ground. Flesh and blood were scattered everywhere, and streams of blood flowed from the bombardment-carved gullies towards the streets outside the mansion gate… The greatest power in Gnanmu Town had vanished into thin air in less than five minutes.
And the mastermind behind it was merely a youth under fifteen years old! “What happened at the City Lord’s Mansion?” a passerby asked in horror, looking at the cloud-like mass of Pterodactyls.
“You’re clearly out of touch! I heard these Pterodactyls are here to pledge allegiance to the City Lord!” said another person who appeared to be well-informed.
“Pledge allegiance to the City Lord? Are you kidding me!
These are Pterodactyls, the Pterodactyls of the Imperial Pterodactyl Knights!” The first man clearly didn't believe him. “Tsk, you wouldn’t know.
My cousin’s nephew’s sister’s brother works at the City Lord’s Mansion. I heard he’s some kind of Vice Steward, very high status.
He told me the City Lord plans to recruit some Pterodactyls to be his subordinates soon, to establish his own Pterodactyl Knights!” “Establish a Pterodactyl Knights? No way!” The first man’s mouth dropped open in shock at the news.
Seeing the other’s astonishment, the well-informed man smirked proudly: “How about that? Shocked, right?
I was stunned for a long time when I first heard this. If our Lord has Pterodactyl Knights protecting him, which outsider would dare cause trouble here!” The first man nodded, his face filled with longing as he gazed toward the Lord’s Manor, his heart brimming with envy.
“The Lord is truly amazing. We are so lucky to have such a Lord in our lifetimes!” the man muttered to himself.
“Of course! Out of the 10,000-plus lords in the Luoqi Empire, which one compares to ours!
Not only does he possess the strength of a Third-Tier Fighter Master himself, but I hear he also commands an entire legion composed of high-level Fighters! It’s terrifying just to think about it!” the well-informed man agreed.
Just as the two were swelling with pride over their Lord’s might, the ground began to shake violently. Intense explosions continuously sounded from the direction of the City Lord’s Mansion.
Within a few short minutes, the entire mansion collapsed… “This…” The two stood frozen in place, dumbfounded, like simpletons. Why were these Pterodactyls attacking the City Lord’s Mansion?
Weren’t they supposed to be pledging allegiance to the City Lord? Forcing down the shock in their hearts, the two swallowed hard and looked at the cloud-like swarm of Pterodactyls in the sky.
In the shadow of one Pterodactyl, they seemed to catch sight of a slender, tall figure… PS: Finally caught up! I only slept three and a half hours last night, and I almost fell into a ditch while dozing off at the construction site today… I rushed to the internet café after dinner and started writing here.
There will still be a chapter tomorrow morning. Book friend Northern Cowboy, who is a CPU fan enthusiast, already bought [the item] for me in Dalian.
Thank you so much to him! Although Old Ya is having a very hard time now, even spending the night at the internet café today, rest assured, Old Ya will maintain an uninterrupted update of 6,000 words daily!
Now that it's on shelves, if I'm a man, I can't back down! I have to push through even if I die!
I’ll say the same old cliché: Old Ya’s current subscriptions are very poor, only increasing by 200 total yesterday and today, sweat. If you have the ability to subscribe, please give one.
Old Ya knows others are updating 10,000 words after going on shelves, and I've only updated just over 10,000 words in three days! Shouting this out feels a bit excessive, but Old Ya is truly trying hard, honestly, Old Ya is just too exhausted!
Since the strong recommendation started, I haven’t slept more than 5 hours a day. Please forgive me for the slow updates!
Also, monthly tickets—I only have 40 right now. Sigh, others are already in the hundreds.
Why is there such a huge gap for a new book! If you have monthly tickets, please cast them for Old Ya!
If it gets to the end of the month, Old Ya will miss the monthly ticket PK rankings! Thank you everyone, I beg for monthly tickets!
