Thousands of pterosaurs soaring in the sky circled above, like a dark cloud rising overhead, the sound of the pterosaur flock flapping their wings roared through the air, dizzying.
On the ground, the giant pterosaur suddenly tilted its head back and let out a long roar; the piercing shriek, like the clash of metal and stone, echoed in the air for a long time, refusing to dissipate.
This was… the cry of a Wyvern!
After the dozen or so pterosaurs at Longtu Mountain performed the Dragon Blood Sacrifice, they all evolved into Wyverns. The Wyverns' sound was sharper than that of the Pterosaurs, but their deterrence was far more potent. This was deeply etched in Chen Feng's memory, so when this roar sounded, he immediately recalled it!
It seemed this colossal pterosaur must be the Pterosaur King that Vena had spoken of!
Ordinary pterosaurs were Tier Three Magical Beasts, but the Pterosaur King was born with a higher concentration of dragon blood than its kin, ranking a full level above the standard pterosaur. While an ordinary pterosaur only needed to reach Tier Four to evolve into a Wyvern, the Pterosaur King required reaching Tier Five to achieve that transformation!
Judging by the sheer size of this Pterosaur King and the sound of its recent roar, it was clearly a peak Tier Four Magical Beast; evolving into a Wyvern was only a matter of time!
Following the Pterosaur King's cry, the pterosaurs in the sky slowly descended in circles. Thousands of them landed simultaneously, raising a wave of imposing might that was so powerful that even Chen Feng, whose will was like iron, couldn't help but turn ashen-faced!
The cloud-like swarm of pterosaurs slowly descended, covering several li in area. If this mountain hollow hadn't been so vast, accommodating this many pterosaurs would have been a true challenge! It seemed the pterosaurs had chosen this location for a reason!
The powerful air currents generated by the pterosaur flock landing whipped up blades of grass and snow from the ground, sending them scattering and floating in the air, unwilling to settle for a long time!
Although pterosaurs were only Tier Three Magical Beasts, possessing such a massive contingent created an unparalleled pressure. Vena had dismissed the combat effectiveness of the Pterosaur Knights, but if one truly had a thousand dragon riders mounted on pterosaurs, even an army of ten thousand, let alone a hundred thousand, would pale in comparison to the sheer awe they projected!
Once all the dragons landed, they bowed toward the Pterosaur King centered among them.
The first pterosaur that had arrived stood up, letting out a few low growls. Chen Feng, not being a Dragon Speaker, couldn't understand the words, but based on the tone and movements of their calls, they appeared to be engaged in a heated discussion!
After a moment, the Pterosaur King seemed to become agitated with surprise, spinning twice on the spot before suddenly letting out an immense roar towards the heavens!
This sound carried even more presence than the last, a resounding dragon's cry that traveled far, causing every pterosaur on the ground to tremble violently, frozen in place.
As this dragon's cry propagated, a brighter roar echoed back from the distance—the sound of a Wyvern!
A string of dark silhouettes flew in from the distant horizon, moving at speeds more than ten times faster than the pterosaurs from before. Before the sound had fully subsided, a dozen Wyverns zipped through the air with a whistling sound!
Seeing these Wyverns, a strange smile immediately spread across Chen Feng's face, a fierce wave of excitement surging through his core.
This… this was the very flock of pterosaurs that had evolved into Wyverns through the Dragon Blood Sacrifice offered to him!
Taking a deep breath, Chen Feng calmed his frantic emotions, fixing his gaze upon the dense mass of pterosaurs filling the hollow.
Upon the arrival of the Wyverns, these pterosaurs involuntarily began to tremble. The pressure transcending their very species left them utterly powerless to resist!
The Pterosaur King's previously high-held head slowly lowered upon seeing the contingent of Wyverns, its massive eyes filled with unconcealed reluctance.
The dragon lineage possessed a strict hierarchy. Although pterosaurs were a collateral branch, the accumulated might of the dragon blood concentration meant they could not muster the slightest resistance!
Seventeen Wyverns hovered briefly before slowly descending.
These Wyverns appeared quite slender amidst the crowd of pterosaurs, yet in the eyes of the grounded dragons, there was no hint of contempt, only a mixture of fear and envy!
The fear stemmed from the inherent racial pressure, while the envy was natural, as they could clearly see that these Wyverns had evolved from their own kind!
The evolution of a Pterosaur into a Wyvern was a phenomenon seen perhaps once in a millennium. Aside from the Pterosaur King, who could advance as its inherent dragon blood density deepened with cultivation, what other pterosaur could ever gain such an opportunity for advancement?
Now, the seventeen pterosaurs that had left their tribe to serve as mounts for humans had not only successfully advanced, but six of them had reached Tier Five! (Of the 17 evolved Wyverns, 11 were Tier Four, and 6 were Tier Five!) This level of evolution, if one were to claim it didn't incite jealousy among the other pterosaurs, would simply be a lie!
"Pterosaur King Liander meets the esteemed Wyverns!" The Pterosaur King bowed low and suddenly spoke in human language!
The Pterosaur King speaking human tongue? Chen Feng was utterly stunned!
For a Magical Beast to articulate human language, it needed to possess at least Tier Seven strength. The Pterosaur King was only at the peak of Tier Four, yet it could speak the language of men—truly beyond comprehension.
The smallest Wyvern among the group stepped forward. Chen Feng glanced over and recognized it as the fire-attributed pterosaur, the one that had advanced to the peak of Tier Five.
This Wyvern lifted its head and roared once; the sound held a hint of displeasure. Pterosaur King Liander slowly raised his head, seeming to disagree with the Wyvern’s decision.
Chen Feng could not understand the Dragon Speech and had no idea what they were discussing, but he held a peculiar intuition that the content of their exchange must be related to him!
Chen Feng wasn't sure why he felt this way, but he was certain it was connected to the original Dragon Blood Sacrifice.
The price paid by the pterosaurs for the Dragon Blood Sacrifice was tenacious belief, a belief that remained lodged in Chen Feng's mind, though faint enough that he usually couldn't perceive it. Now, upon suddenly seeing these Wyverns, a vague sense naturally arose within him, though the specific content of that sensation remained incomprehensible to Chen Feng.
The small Wyvern waved a wing, stepped forward, and suddenly radiated a powerful Dragon Might!
Chen Feng's sensitivity to Dragon Might was relatively acute; even from a great distance, he could faintly perceive it.
The surrounding pterosaurs felt the pressure of this might and simultaneously pressed their bodies flat against the ground, appearing entirely incapable of resistance.
Liander first struggled to stand upright, but after a moment, he finally couldn't resist, slumping to the ground, his large, round eyes filled with terror.
It seemed that even reaching the peak of Tier Four was insufficient to overcome the innate racial suppression.
"Esteemed Wyvern, I fear… if we proceed with this, it might incite panic among the humans!" Liander spoke, his voice carrying the human tongue.
The Wyvern before him shook its head, seemingly unconcerned by his words, and let out a low growl.
Liander pondered for a moment before finally nodding reluctantly, his posture conveying extreme unwillingness.
Just then, the Tier Four earth-attributed Wyvern, the first one to accept the Dragon Blood Sacrifice, suddenly leaped up, flapped its wings, and soared into the air, roaring toward the crowd of Wyverns—a sound filled with excitement and joy.
Chen Feng was greatly mystified. What on earth could have made this Wyvern so elated? Before he could ponder further, the Wyvern in the front let out a fierce cry and flew straight toward the hiding spot where he was concealed!
