Wohr was the capital planet of the Davo Republic, and Wohl City was its capital. If Wahr was the heart of Davo, then Wohl City was the heart of Wahr.
Wohl City was not only the political center of Wahr but also a thriving economic hub. In the annual rankings of the top one hundred national cities, it was invariably number one.
Wohl had three spaceports in total. The Third Spaceport, located in the northeast corner of Wohl City, was the nation's most advanced, having only been completed and put into operation the year before last.
It housed the most sophisticated equipment, the most developed transportation network, and the most comprehensive functions. It didn't just service the takeoff and landing of atmospheric craft; it could also accommodate starships. It was a super-station integrating an airport and a starship harbor.
The daily flow of people here was immense, as it served as the nexus for the entire nation. At almost every minute, no fewer than ten aircraft were taking off or landing.
"We will be arriving at the spaceport in five minutes. Please prepare for disembarkation."
To the sound of the sweet female announcer, Zhong Yun awoke from a deep slumber, stretching languidly.
Those two fellows who claimed to be police officers were quite high-ranking; they had even arranged a luxury cabin for him. They must be people from the government.
Why would people from the government be looking for him?
Zhong Yun fell into contemplation. He possessed too many things that surpassed the current era. If you asked why the government was seeking him out, the reasons were numerous indeed.
Take the 'Seven Fairies'—as far as he knew, there was an extremely grand flower exhibition scheduled for next year, to which foreign dignitaries would be invited. It was a massive event, and perhaps the government wanted him to cultivate another pot of 'Seven Fairies.' After all, the 'Seven Fairies' were nearly extinct; if they could be displayed at the exhibition, it would certainly boost the nation's image immeasurably.
Another possibility was that mechanic, Huang Jian, a B-Class technician. However, the technology in that machine wasn't anything spectacular, and he had already destroyed the device. The nation wouldn't mobilize such an effort just for that, surely?
Or perhaps he had inadvertently let something slip somewhere without realizing it?
Of course, it was also possible that his parents had noticed his absence and hired someone to find him. But did they possess that kind of leverage?
The worst-case scenario was that ZER had been exposed—at least partially.
Thinking of this, Zhong Yun couldn't help but frown, though the anxiety he once felt was gone. He decided to wait and see, meeting the person seeking him first.
They say confidence stems from strength, and that was entirely true. He was no longer the average middle schooler who could be pushed around. Hidden behind the Moon (Note), a starship belonging to him was waiting. With a single command, he could storm into Wohl within thirty minutes. Even if the situation devolved into the absolute worst, he could evacuate his family to his own planet.
With that contingency plan in place, Zhong Yun was brimming with assurance.
As Zhong Yun was deep in thought, the aircraft landed.
Zhong Yun rose to pack his belongings, preparing to disembark. Just then, a tall flight attendant in a short-sleeved uniform approached gracefully and inquired politely, "May I ask if you are Mr. Zhong Yun?"
"That's correct."
"Someone wishes to see you, sir. Please follow me." The flight attendant made a gesture of invitation.
Here they come.
Zhong Yun smiled faintly, asking no one in particular who wanted to meet him. Amidst the gazes of the dozen or so other passengers in the luxury cabin, he picked up his backpack and followed her out.
The flight attendant led him off the aircraft via a special access ramp, leading him into a restricted corridor.
The special corridor was reserved for VIP passengers for rapid transit; one could not enter without an escort from the airport staff.
Zhong Yun stood on the moving walkway, leaning on the handrail to admire the curves encased beneath the uniform of the flight attendant ahead of him. Under his unabashed gaze, the flight attendant remained utterly oblivious—truly well-trained.
There were very few people in the corridor. Occasionally, a few individuals approached from the opposite direction, exchanged a glance, and then moved on.
After walking for about five minutes, the sound of conversation drifted from an intersection ahead. Zhong Yun glanced over and saw a group of young men and women emerging from the intersection in front. Trailing behind them were several tall men whose alert demeanor instantly identified them as bodyguards of some sort.
Zhong Yun generally paid no mind to such people, but he was surprised to spot a familiar face in the crowd. He thought, what a small world, to run into him here of all places.
The man was laughing and chatting animatedly with a group of young women. As if sensing Zhong Yun’s stare, his eyes flicked over casually. The moment they locked onto Zhong Yun, a bright spark ignited in those eyes, vanishing so quickly it was almost imagined away.
Zhong Yun’s heart leaped. Does he want me dead?
Having 'died' countless times in 'Combat Simulation Training,' Zhong Yun had become exceptionally attuned to killing intent. Though the man’s glance was fleeting, Zhong Yun distinctly perceived the sharp, frigid murderous aura within it.
Why does he hate me so much?
Right—because of Yun Qi. Zhong Yun instantly grasped the key reason.
This man had displayed intense hostility towards him during their first meeting. Given his recent closeness with Yun Qi, anyone who looked into it slightly would know. He must have caught wind of something, leading to such a profound killing intent.
Fei Yingming, I haven't provoked you, yet you wish me dead. If that’s the case, don't blame me for being ruthless.
Zhong Yun thought silently.
Indeed, the person directing that intense killing intent toward Zhong Yun was Fei Yingming, whom he had encountered at the Fiel Garden Estate (See Chapter 006 for details).
Just then, Fei Yingming's group erupted in laughter. Zhong Yun looked over and saw the group of men and women pointing and gesturing toward his direction. It seemed Fei Yingming had just been bad-mouthing him.
Childish.
Zhong Yun paid them no mind, turning his attention back to the beautiful woman beside him.
"This way, please."
A few minutes later, the flight attendant led him out of the corridor and onto an elevator. Without needing to look back, Zhong Yun could feel the substantial gaze fixed upon his back.
After ascending three floors, the flight attendant led him out of the elevator. After rounding two corners, she pushed open a door. Once he was inside, she quietly closed it.
"You must be Mr. Zhong Yun?"
Inside stood a man in his early thirties, exuding an aura of sharp capability. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes upon seeing Zhong Yun, but his expression was warm yet perfectly polite.
"I don't believe I know you," Zhong Yun said, shaking his hand and looking puzzled.
"You do now," the man chuckled heartily. "My name is Zhao Dai, and I am the Security Manager for the Yidao Group."
The Yidao Group? Zhong Yun was inwardly stunned. Why would someone from the Yidao Group be looking for him?
(Note: Regardless of what the Moon is called elsewhere, I shall directly translate it as 'Moon' henceforth.)
