Initially, he had been quite curious about this beast, but now a measure of horror had crept in. Its hide being so tough was one thing, but this inexplicable method of attack was simply unacceptable.
"It is the Plague," Mou Zilong stated coldly. "We are facing a poison-gas mutated monster; it possesses the special ability to unleash pestilence. Fortunately, we are all Divine Path powerhouses—our inherent strength is immense, rendering us impervious to all poisons. Otherwise..." He shook his head, a faint chill flickering in his eyes.
He Yiming stared deeply at the rotund, green-furred monster, the shock within him almost indescribable.
Plague.
Such an unbelievable substance being spewed from this monster's maw. If this were not in this already dead world, but rather if such a creature suddenly erupted in their original world...
The thought alone sent a chill down He Yiming's entire body; a single monster like this would be capable of snuffing out millions of lives.
"Most of these mutated creatures have thick hides and are capable of using mental projection abilities. Even a direct strike from the Thunderclap Spear often has little effect," Mou Zilong said urgently.
"How have you dealt with them before?" He Yiming asked offhandedly.
These Divine Path powerhouses had coexisted with such monsters for centuries and must have worked out some means of victory; otherwise, Mou Zilong wouldn't know so much.
Mou Zilong let out a wry smile. "Normally, this thing doesn't leave its lair. So, when confronting it, one expert at the Pseudo-God Realm would use their Divine Path Domain to immobilize it. Then, gathering all their divine power for a single, full-force strike is the only way to breach its defenses."
He Yiming paused, recalling the sight of the creature rolling across the ground. If its spherical form truly started rolling, no one would dare try to stop it. Worse still, the thing was steeped in potent venom; although the Divine Path physique wouldn't be instantly poisoned to death, proximity alone inflicted massive damage.
With a cold snort, He Yiming waved his hand, unleashing a burst of crimson firelight—the true divine power of Fire, capable of burning away all poisons in the world.
Yet, the green-furred monster let out two cries within the flames before once again rolling toward He Yiming.
Mou Zilong thrust out a hand, powerful energy surging forth, shoving the creature forcefully back. However, this thing clearly had not surrendered; instead, it persistently rolled forward again. Fortunately, Mou Zilong seemed prepared, casually pushing it away with successive palm strikes. As soon as the creature neared within thirty feet, that force would immediately propel it far away.
Even with the strength of an established Divine Path expert like Mou Zilong, he still dared not let this monster close to him, which showed just how much apprehension it instilled in his heart.
He Yiming shifted his divine power, and the rapidly freezing purple light instantly scattered downward. But to his surprise, this thing was impervious to both fire and water; even the freezing attempt failed to impede it in the slightest.
His face grim, He Yiming unhesitatingly unleashed the Dao of the Five Elements and the Dao of Light and Darkness in alternation. But this creature behaved like a stubborn, rolling stone; no matter what, they couldn't harm it.
Mou Zilong sighed deeply. "Brother He, we've encountered this thing many times before. The only method is to use a Pseudo-God Domain to pin it down. Once it cannot roll, we can gather all our strength for a single decisive blow. Beyond that, no one has ever managed to kill it."
He Yiming shook his head slightly. Facing this thing, which possessed potent mental abilities and infinite internal viruses, making approach impossible, he truly felt at a loss.
Suddenly, a figure walked forward past his side.
His eyes widened slightly, and his expression became rather peculiar. The one walking forward alone was the Divine Path Puppet, and this entity had clearly not received any explicit command from him.
However, this time He Yiming faintly sensed the subtle connection.
A portion of the Divine Path Puppet's consciousness resided within his mind. When he was concentrating his utmost effort on an unsolvable problem, he inevitably transmitted that thought to the other consciousness within his mind. As a result, the Divine Path Puppet actively moved out; it was obeying orders in this manner, which greatly broadened He Yiming's horizons.
Mou Zilong’s eyes contracted slightly. He seemed about to protest but ultimately kept his mouth shut.
The Divine Path Puppet was, after all, He Yiming’s possession. Since he had sent it forth, he must have some confidence in the outcome. Thus, Mou Zilong ultimately did not speak. However, if he knew the Divine Path Puppet hadn't been dispatched deliberately by He Yiming, one could only guess his reaction.
The Divine Path Puppet advanced with steady steps, the distance between each stride perfectly equal. There was no powerful life aura radiating from it, only a chilling aura and a power that chilled the heart.
The green-furred sphere monster seemed to pause for a moment, but it then rapidly charged toward the Divine Path Puppet.
Within its body were contained vast quantities of various viruses sourced from different parts of the universe. If it were released onto any green planet, even by itself, it could kill the majority of the inhabitants.
This was the power of poison and plague, possessing immense destructive capability against living organisms.
But alas, this world no longer hosted ordinary life. Even the few living humans and beasts possessed incomparable strength, far beyond what these toxins could directly claim as lives.
Of course, any living human would refuse to approach this terrifying entity, and this applied even to experts in the Pseudo-God Realm.
But the Divine Path Puppet paid it no mind, striding forward with great strides, and simply raised its foot, bringing it down heavily.
With the immense strength of his Divine Path Realm, this single stomp actually flattened the green-furred monster. It was like crushing a soft, bulging skin-ball that wouldn't rupture; the very center of the monster's body was deeply indented by the forceful tread. It was pressed flat against the ground, while the area surrounding its body suddenly swelled outward significantly.
The concept of belly against spine could describe nothing better.
An exceedingly unpleasant shriek erupted from the green-furred monster’s mouth. Its body thrashed desperately, seeming to struggle free from beneath the Puppet’s foot, but the foot planted upon it was immovable, like Mount Tai pressing down.
He Yiming and Mou Zilong stared dumbfounded at the scene. The green-furred monster that both of them desperately tried to avoid was being pinned down in this manner by the Divine Path Puppet. The sheer might of this Puppet left them speechless.
Nodding slightly, He Yiming remarked, "Brother Mou, for monsters of this type, this method is certainly viable. It's worth promoting."
Mou Zilong rolled his eyes dismissively. Facing a creature oozing with venom, even Divine Path experts would find themselves deeply troubled, precisely because no one could get close to it. And anyone capable of doing what the Puppet did? There likely wasn't a second one besides this Divine Path-level Puppet in existence.
The countless green hairs covering the monster, which fire couldn't burn and ice couldn't harden, suddenly became stiffened, then shot out like a volley of ten thousand arrows toward the Divine Path Puppet.
The Divine Path Puppet paid it no heed, continuing to watch everything with icy composure.
Those long hairs did not strike the Divine Path Puppet. Instead, they suddenly exploded when they reached half a foot from its body, instantly filling the entire area with a faint, pale-green mist.
This green mist was incredibly virulent. As the mist slowly spread, enveloping the corpses of a few other monsters on the ground, the complexions of He Yiming and Mou Zilong subtly changed. For within the mist, the corpses began to dissolve at a speed visible to the naked eye, melting into a pool of green blood that flowed away to an unknown destination.
Though their spread was not fast, it exhibited a peculiar, aggressive dominance. In a moment, the creeping green mist completely submerged the Divine Path Puppet.
He Yiming and Mou Zilong swayed slightly, having already retreated far away. They exchanged a look, both filled with palpable worry.
He immediately sent the mental command to the Divine Path Puppet in his mind: Destroy the opponent instantly. At this moment, He Yiming could no longer hold back. If the Divine Path Puppet were truly lost here, he would regret it immensely.
A ghastly scream echoed from within the green toxic fog, a sound like thunderous 'croaks' erupting. However, after only a moment, these sounds abruptly ceased, and He Yiming and Mou Zilong distinctly heard a clear ripping sound.
They looked at each other, a very strange sensation arising in their eyes.
Could it be that this thing had been torn apart? Thinking of that creature's tough outer hide, a chilling feeling crept into He Yiming's heart.
Moments later, the sound of light footsteps emerged. The Divine Path Puppet had moved from its spot and walked out of the toxic fog. Yet, both He Yiming and Mou Zilong drew a sharp, cold breath.
The Divine Path Puppet’s body was now completely bare, and its skin was coated in a thick layer of green, causing a primordial sense of horror.
He Yiming flipped his wrist, and two buckets of water instantly materialized in his hands. Under the control of his powerful energy, the water sluiced down, cleaning the green residue from its body in moments.
He then tossed out a set of clothes, allowing the Divine Path Puppet to dress.
This green substance was indeed lethally poisonous, but it had caused no damage to the Divine Path Puppet whatsoever. This fact gave He Yiming a deeper understanding of its capabilities.
The Divine Path Puppet was essentially completely immune to the toxic fog.
Mou Zilong watched the Divine Path Puppet with unconcealed envy. He nodded inwardly; not only was He Yiming overwhelmingly powerful, but even a mere Puppet by his side was so formidable. When they themselves were gone, the responsibility of fighting these monsters could be safely handed over.
Suddenly, He Yiming’s heart stirred, and his face changed drastically. "A more powerful entity is coming. Silence. Conceal yourselves."
It was the first time Mou Zilong had seen He Yiming's expression so solemn. He quickly clamped his mouth shut. A strange wave of energy flashed, and the three of them pressed tightly against the stone wall. Under the concealment of the Eyes of Light and Darkness, their entire auras were completely suppressed, not leaking out even slightly.
