Far in the distance, a formidable aura approached from ahead. A host of over a hundred monsters drifted slowly forward along the cavern.
Among this horde, there were surprisingly more than fifteen golden monsters, which moved in pairs, spread out cautiously, seemingly searching for something.
Yet, they clearly found nothing, and moments later, they finally departed slowly into the distance from another direction.
On the cavern ceiling, Mou Zilong let out a long sigh of relief, forcing a wry smile. "Brother He, your appetite is too grand. These few are certainly not something we can devour."
Not far from him, He Yiming also offered a bitter smile. "Brother Mou, the searching capability of the Eyes of Light and Darkness is limited. It cannot clearly discern the specific situation, nor can it sense the exact number of powerful individuals; it only shows clusters of small red dots. I only knew there were golden monsters in that group, but I never expected such a large quantity."
In truth, the abilities of the Eyes of Light and Darkness extended far beyond that, but this place seemed enveloped by a strange power, significantly diminishing the effectiveness of this Divine Dao treasure. Naturally, seeing the full picture became impossible.
Mou Zilong shook his head slightly. "It's a good thing you weren't impulsive just now, otherwise, this old life of mine might truly have ended here today."
He Yiming chuckled dryly; thinking back now, his heart still pounded with lingering fear.
If they had jointly attacked, even against four or five golden monsters, they would have been confident in annihilating them all while using the Mutated Thunderclap Spear.
However, the greater the number of golden monsters, the more powerful the might they could exert. No matter how self-assured He Yiming was, he didn't believe the few of them could handle more than fifteen golden monsters.
Mou Zilong sighed softly. "If there were a Pseudo-God Realm expert here, then even up to twenty golden monsters could be slain."
He Yiming’s heart stirred. Although he had never witnessed the strength of a Pseudo-God Realm expert, he could imagine the immense power they possessed from the highly respectful tone Mou Zilong used.
His divine sense suddenly tightened, and He Yiming’s expression shifted slightly. Within the view of the Eyes of Light and Darkness, a green light spot abruptly appeared.
This sudden discovery left him utterly bewildered.
Although Mou Zilong had mentioned that this Divine Dao treasure could monitor activity within a hundred-mile radius, it was clearly ineffective here. Being able to display the red light spots of powerful beings within a hundred zhang was already quite an achievement.
And over these past three days, their scope of movement had not been large. To minimize encounters with others or venturing too deep into the caverns to meet large contingents of golden monsters, they had only engaged in minor skirmishes near the periphery.
Despite this, their gains over these three days had been quite substantial, but the good times seemed to have ended. Those golden monsters were no longer scattering but beginning to appear in droves.
Once there were more than eight golden monsters, He Yiming would avoid them like the plague, absolutely refusing to risk an attack. Yet, even so, they had slowly been moving deeper, until this moment when he unexpectedly discovered a differently colored light spot.
"Brother Mou, I've found something strange," He Yiming stated in a deep voice. "A green light spot."
Mou Zilong had already heard about the effect of the Eyes of Light and Darkness from He Yiming. He frowned, his expression changing slightly. "It might be a Mutated Death Creature."
He Yiming’s spirit soared. He had already hunted over a hundred golden death creatures. Having seen their strength multiple times, the initial shock had worn off, so he felt a sense of anticipation towards that mutated monster.
As if sensing He Yiming's thoughts, Mou Zilong did not try to dissuade him, merely saying, "Brother He, every one of these mutated monsters possesses at least one special ability. If you encounter them, you must be extremely careful."
He Yiming sobered instantly. Mou Zilong had repeatedly emphasized this point. He already harbored deep apprehension regarding those mutated creatures.
Of course, this did not make him retreat; instead, he felt a surge of anticipation. He wanted to see what kind of entity could warrant such high regard from a Divine Dao expert.
The three of them advanced silently. Without resorting to their Divine Power, the three moved cautiously, equally failing to alert anyone.
After rounding a few passages, although they spotted two larger groups of monsters along the way—one group with only four golden monsters—He Yiming suppressed the urge to strike. Because, at this moment, he was intensely eager to see the appearance of that legendary powerful monster.
The deeper they went into the passages, the more intricate and winding the paths became; it would have been impossible for anyone to silently map them out.
However, He Yiming and the other were not worried; since the cavern walls here could not withstand the attack of a Divine Dao expert, they could always blast their way upward whenever they wished.
The closer they got to the green dot in the Eyes of Light and Darkness, the slower He Yiming's pace became, as an indistinct sense of danger began to creep into his heart.
His brow furrowed slightly. He was quite clear about the capabilities of the Eyes of Light and Darkness; before he made a move, these monsters should have no way of detecting him. Yet, this strange feeling intensified, causing a growing uneasiness in He Yiming’s heart.
"Gua..."
A bizarre croaking sound suddenly echoed from ahead, and this sound was as resonant as a tiger's roar, chilling the bone.
He Yiming’s eyebrows lifted slightly. He slowly rounded the preceding bend and finally beheld the mutated monster that Mou Zilong had mentioned many times.
It was a spherical monster covered entirely in green fur. Its size was vastly different from those compound-eyed ape monsters; they could not possibly belong to the same species. However, beside this green-furred monster, there were two golden ape monsters and several other monsters of various colors, all surrounding the green-furred one.
What astonished He Yiming even more was that the gazes of these monsters were fixed intently in his direction, as if anticipating something.
He Yiming’s heart turned cold. He immediately understood: these creatures had sensed his presence and were therefore on high alert.
He tightened his grip on the Mutated Thunderclap Spear but did not immediately attack, because he abruptly noticed that although these monsters had adopted defensive postures, they showed no signs of aggression, and their compound eyes darted around nervously, failing to lock onto any target.
He instantly realized that these monsters knew he was there, but under the concealment of the Eyes of Light and Darkness, none of them could actually see his figure.
"Gua..."
Another loud cry rang out from the middle of the monster group, and only then did He Yiming realize that the call of that green, spherical monster was so distinct.
"Attack," Mou Zilong’s voice came from behind without hesitation.
He Yiming flicked his wrist, and the Mutated Thunderclap Spear shot out, transforming into a bolt of lightning in mid-air, aimed straight for the green, fuzzy sphere.
A sharp, piercing sound of blades cutting through the air echoed. The eyes of the two golden ape monsters showed extreme terror. It seemed that after hundreds of years of confrontation, they held a profound fear of the power and effect this weapon could produce.
However, something happened that was entirely unexpected by He Yiming.
Just as this seemingly certain spear shot passed between the two hesitating golden ape monsters and was about to pierce the green spherical monster, the spear abruptly halted mid-flight. The sharp tip of the piercing weapon stopped rigidly inches from the monster’s face, and a fierce, killing aura instantly permeated the air.
He Yiming’s body flashed forward. He let out an exclamation of surprise, finding his failure this time unbelievable.
He could feel it—an evil, chilling will emanating from the Mutated Thunderclap Spear, forcibly blocking its trajectory.
This was the power of will, and it was incredibly strong.
With an angry snort, the glowing Mutated Thunderclap Spear immediately exploded from within.
If it were an ordinary Thunderclap Spear, not only would it fail to detonate mid-flight, but even if it did explode successfully, the concentrated pure Light energy within would be insufficient to purify the outer shell of any golden monster, let alone this green monster.
But the Mutated Thunderclap Spear in He Yiming’s hand was clearly different; what was sealed within was the formidable power of the unity of Light and Darkness.
That supreme force, which even in the Western World, only the Pope of Light and the Dark Council Leader could unleash together.
Instantly, countless exploding fragments burst from the center. The golden monsters on both sides were the unluckiest, their bodies embedded with fragments born from the power of Light and Darkness.
Piercing shrieks drowned out all other sounds. When they finally stopped moving, they had already lost their lives.
Of course, the sudden fatal wound on their throats also played a significant part.
The other, weaker monsters undoubtedly suffered a catastrophe. Their bodies were flung outward as the immense power was unleashed, especially the green-furred monster directly in front of the Thunderclap Spear, which was tossed up like a ball, while vast amounts of the combined Light and Darkness power stabbed into its surface like gushing water.
A heavy impact sound rang out as the green-furred monster slammed violently against the opposite wall, but He Yiming’s eyes instantly narrowed.
Its formidable mouthparts exploded, and many fragments struck the monster's body directly, but neither the flying shards nor the potent Light and Darkness energy caused even the slightest damage to it. It fell from the stone wall, letting out a roar filled with rage.
He Yiming frowned, suddenly catching a sweet, fragrant odor near his nose. His body swayed slightly, and he nearly stumbled and fell right there.
His form flashed, and Mou Zilong was already moving forward. But instead of attacking the monster, he unhesitatingly reached out and grabbed He Yiming, pulling him back rapidly as if flying.
Only after they retreated more than ten zhang from the green-furred monster did He Yiming’s mind suddenly clear.
