This structure was riddled with countless openings; from the outside, it resembled a honeycomb magnified thousands of times, an immediate sight that sent shivers down the spine.
He Yiming had never encountered anything like it, so he had no idea what this structure represented. Yet, he was certain this was the only place he had seen since arriving in this world that was not composed solely of sand.
“I must be crazy,” Mou Zilong muttered, “Why did I agree to come here with you?”
Hearing the grumbling of the veteran Divine Path powerhouse behind him, a trace of happiness surfaced on He Yiming’s face. “Because you wanted to come here too.”
Mou Zilong paused, considering it seriously for a moment. “Perhaps, but I would never venture this deep alone.” He gestured toward the area ahead, likely the only non-sandy region in this entire world. “From what I know, the most dangerous monsters here are not those golden creatures. So, once we enter, proceed with extreme caution.”
He Yiming’s expression shifted slightly, surprise coloring his tone. “The golden monsters aren’t the strongest?”
In his estimation, the power of those golden creatures was already capable of contending with Divine Path powerhouses. If there were anything stronger, even Ma Yu and the others might struggle to fight them.
Mou Zilong’s expression grew grave. “Brother He, purely in terms of raw strength, those golden monsters are indeed top-tier. But among them, there are some rather peculiar ones.” He frowned, thinking for a moment. “Some mutated variants. Their strength might not match the golden monsters, but they possess unique abilities that pose a substantial threat to us.”
He Yiming nodded slightly. These death entities were certainly not simple; otherwise, they wouldn’t be causing such headaches for so many Divine Path powerhouses and Divine Beasts.
“Why aren’t Ma Yu and the others afraid?”
“Because Ma Yu is at the Pseudo-God realm,” Mou Zilong said with envy. “Once his Pseudo-God aura spreads out, no subtle change within a ten-mile radius can escape him. All mutated monsters are eliminated by him from a distance before they get close, posing no real challenge. But it’s different for us; if we venture deep, the possibility of being ambushed is very high.”
He Yiming pondered for a moment, then broke into a light, self-amused laugh. “It doesn’t matter. Perhaps I have a way to solve that.”
Mou Zilong regarded He Yiming with a look of suspicion, but after a moment, he finally nodded. Deep down, he was eager to see just how many secrets this young Divine Path powerhouse, who had brought him so much astonishment, truly possessed.
As they advanced toward the strange structure, He Yiming was surprised to find that the closer they got, the fewer of those terrifying death entities he could see. It seemed this wasn't the monsters' lair, but rather some kind of forbidden ground.
As if sensing He Yiming’s confusion, Mou Zilong said solemnly, “Brother He, do not let your guard down. Normally, only high-tier death entities appear here. But every century, countless monsters descend from the sky to this spot. Their numbers can blanket the entire ground and obscure the entire sky. Even now, these high-tier monsters, of varying strengths, must not be underestimated.”
He Yiming’s expression hardened, and he nodded seriously, releasing his spiritual sense to carefully observe their surroundings.
Finally, they arrived, safe and sound, before the massive structure, a lair that spanned over a hundred miles in length.
Here, the voids peppering the entire nest became even clearer. The pitch-black openings stretched endlessly. Though they hadn't entered, one could easily imagine the interior passageways being a complex, interconnected maze.
“Brother Mou, will we get lost once we go inside?” He Yiming asked hesitantly.
Mou Zilong chuckled darkly. Instead of answering, he simply stretched out his hand and pointed downward lightly. His immense divine power, along with the surrounding Heaven and Earth energy, surged downward, crashing heavily into one of the openings of the lair.
A huge sound echoed in the air, and the interior of that opening instantly tore apart. The middle section connecting two previously separate holes vanished without a trace.
He Yiming looked on, baffled by the action.
“Rest assured, Brother He. This structure cannot withstand the impact of a Divine Path powerhouse. As long as we continuously attack upward with the might of Heaven and Earth, we can easily retreat at any time,” he paused. “If not for this reason, Ma Yu and the others wouldn't dare venture deep inside either.”
He Yiming nodded slightly, but his gaze suddenly sharpened, and his expression flickered.
Below, the large hole Mou Zilong had forcibly blasted open was slowly healing, and the speed of its recovery was certainly not slow. In less than half an hour, it had completely reverted to its original state, showing no trace of damage.
“This… this is…” He Yiming asked in disbelief.
Mou Zilong shook his head with a bitter smile. “Brother He, this is the other marvel of this place. No matter how much we destroy it, it will restore itself in a short time. Even if all of us old fellows join forces and blast this thing into dust, the result is always the same.”
He Yiming nodded heavily. He finally understood why these people, knowing this place was the stronghold where the death entities descended, never bothered to destroy it.
It was because they simply couldn't.
Still, these death entities were formidable to have constructed something like this; it was truly unbelievable.
“Brother Mou, is there truly no way to destroy it?” He Yiming asked casually.
Mou Zilong hesitated for a long time, then lowered his voice. “That divine beast known as the 'Divine Calculator' once said that if a Divine Path powerhouse with the Five Elements Body cooperated with the Fire Element’s premier Divine Artifact, the Nine Dragon Furnace, they might be able to use the Five Elements Grand Reincarnation Flower to utterly destroy this place. But that is clearly impossible.”
He Yiming’s mind stirred, and his eyes lit up slightly. “Why is it impossible?”
Mou Zilong chuckled. “I know you possess the Five Elements Body, making you the unparalleled Five Elements Divine Path expert of this era. However, the Fire Element’s premier Divine Artifact, the Nine Dragon Furnace, disappeared without a trace thousands of years ago. Moreover, even if you possessed the Nine Dragon Furnace, I wouldn't want you to use it.”
This time, He Yiming was genuinely perplexed. Mou Zilong harbored deep animosity toward these death entities, yet he seemed hesitant about taking such decisive action.
Mou Zilong sighed softly. “You just saw Yuan Juan, didn’t you? She is a Divine Path Elder from the Glazed Cave of the Southern Border, and the Nine Dragon Furnace was the treasure guarding that cave since its founding. Although it vanished later, she is extremely unwilling to accept that loss. Both before entering this place and after entering, she has mentioned multiple times her desire to recover the sect’s supreme treasure. She is Ma Yu’s wife and has an intimate bond with the White Tiger. Therefore, anyone possessing the Nine Dragon Furnace will bring about immense calamity and endless trouble.”
He Yiming’s brows furrowed deeply. He inwardly cursed, realizing that the fact he possessed the Divine Artifact Nine Dragon Furnace was hardly a secret. Every peak Human Path expert who entered here at the same time as him knew the situation clearly.
He was certain that once these people ascended to the Divine Path, or if someone mentioned the Nine Dragon Furnace in their presence, the news of him possessing that artifact would spread like wildfire to the ears of all Divine Paths and Divine Beasts.
Shaking his head slightly, He Yiming found this situation a real headache. To have such bizarre misfortunes appear out of nowhere was truly unimaginable.
“Brother He, what’s wrong?” Mou Zilong asked suspiciously.
He Yiming waved his hand slightly. While he got along reasonably well with Mou Zilong, this man clearly couldn't solve this issue. His gaze shifted, and he stopped moving. He quickly retreated a small distance. “Brother Mou, look there.”
Mou Zilong looked intently and saw more than ten monster corpses lying within one of the massive openings. Due to the angle, they hadn't noticed them earlier; if He Yiming hadn't glanced in that direction by chance, they would have missed them entirely.
The two exchanged a look and, without hesitation, flew toward those corpses, arriving moments later inside that particularly huge opening.
Their movements were exceedingly cautious, their divine senses fully unleashed until they confirmed there were no ambushes before safely landing.
Turning over the corpses, they were greatly astonished.
There were two golden monsters and more than ten death entities mixed with red and blue armor. Judging by their appearance, they seemed to have been wiped out in one go, and the state of battle did not appear fierce.
Mou Zilong flipped over the two golden monsters and snorted. “They just died; their mouthparts have been pulled out. If I’m not mistaken, they were killed by Ma Yu and the others.”
He Yiming nodded slightly. Only they possessed such immense power to slay these monsters in such a short time. On their journey here, they hadn't seen a single monster, likely because Ma Yu and his group had conveniently dealt with them; otherwise, their journey wouldn't have been this easy.
Mou Zilong pointed at the large opening before them. “Brother He, they must have entered through this passage. Should we find another way, or follow them?”
He Yiming shook his head. “I don’t want to meet them face-to-face. Let’s find another place.”
Mou Zilong was unconcerned. “The paths inside here are like a maze. Even if we follow them in, we are highly unlikely to cross paths.”
If He Yiming hadn't possessed the Nine Dragon Furnace, he wouldn't have minded encountering Ma Yu and the others, but now, it was absolutely preferable not to.
He pointed toward the top, and just as He Yiming was about to speak, his expression suddenly changed. “Be careful!”
Mou Zilong was about to ask when he sensed an overwhelmingly powerful, chilling cold emanating from within the cavern. The two looked at each other, both managing a wry smile.
It seemed this opening must be a place of great importance, otherwise, so many monsters wouldn't be appearing around it.
He Yiming waved his hand, making a cutting gesture. Mou Zilong’s eyebrows arched, and he nodded proudly.
