With a heavy thud, Fang Senyan slammed onto the ground. He immediately felt a stinging, then numbing sensation on the skin where he made contact, which rapidly ulcerated, dissolving as if being digested and greedily absorbed. Even while being "digested" in this manner, Fang Senyan remained strangely calm. He struggled to lift his head and managed a smile toward the shadowy figure.
"Can you take off the mask so I can see you?"
"Why?" the shadow asked flatly.
Fang Senyan gave a wry smile.
"If I guessed correctly, then you are that young murderer, Fang Lin. The one who so ruthlessly took a life with his own hands as a youth?"
"Yes. Continue," Fang Lin replied, his voice slightly hoarse.
Fang Senyan was silent for a moment.
"I am an orphan. Even my memories before the age of three were completely shattered and sealed away. So, I don't know what my parents look like. Such an experience is incredibly cruel, not just for me, who is near death, but for any ordinary person! So, I wanted to see your face because I wanted to know what my father looked like, to face death with fewer regrets."
"Heh, heh, heh, heh, heh." Fang Lin's laughter was intermittent yet utterly resolute, clear like the action of raising a knife to strike, then raising it again to strike. "If you hadn't brought it up, I hadn't remembered what I looked like for a very, very long time."
As he spoke, he removed the bronze mask from his head. Fang Senyan looked intently, but the next second let out a sigh! Because the face beneath the mask could hardly be called human; it was a countenance twisted and mutated as if wax had melted. Only the mouth and eyes were visible, marked by three deep, black pits.
More terrifyingly, Fang Senyan observed that Fang Lin's back was pressed flush against space itself. He could see vast, gigantic blood vessels winding and bulging grotesquely across the spatial wall, ultimately converging like a hundred rivers flowing to the sea at Fang Lin's back. It was evident that this decaying, festering Nightmare Space had become one with him.
"Is this the price for freely traversing time and space, and being able to calculate your coordinates in other parallel spaces?" Fang Senyan murmured softly. "You sacrificed your life, your freedom. Was it worth it?"
Fang Lin sneered:
"As long as I can obtain enough Source Energy to resurrect my teammates, it is worth it! Ultimately, all of this traces back to your old man. If it weren't for trying to surround and kill him, how could my team have suffered such devastating casualties?"
Fang Senyan laughed in fury:
"By your logic, my father should have just washed his neck and waited for you to kill him?"
"Precisely!" Fang Lin stated calmly, his tone utterly unyielding.
Fang Senyan fell silent. He understood that this person before him was utterly psychologically warped; once a critical point was touched, no reason or logic could prevail. Meanwhile, a large area on his own back, nearly an inch deep, was being corroded, almost down to the bone, emitting a sizzling sound and a foul odor, as if he had been tossed into a vat of strong acid.
"Do you have any last words before you die?" Fang Lin asked coldly. "Considering you are of the same generation as my son, I can fulfill any wish or final request you might have."
Fang Senyan managed a difficult, strained smile.
"Fortunately, I've lived a rather comfortable life. There's just one thing I still can't quite figure out."
Fang Lin prompted:
"Speak."
Fang Senyan said lightly:
"According to your son—oh, no, I should say your son's clone, Xiang—you initially did not know of my existence until you inferred the presence of this oversight, me, based on my direct ability to wield the Demon Sword Abophis, coupled with the arrival of the Gold Mine."
"But an immense amount of time has passed between then and now. Given your desperate desire to resurrect your teammates, you shouldn't have delayed even a second. Why wait until now for Prince Pompalu to set up this trap?"
As he spoke, Fang Senyan's voice gradually grew louder, his eyes sharp:
"Why? Because there must be something you fear immensely! After my subordinate space, Noah C, devoured the other space, I knew what you were worried about! You also feared the powerful space behind me."
"Correct," Fang Lin slowly conceded, his voice now like two pieces of metal grinding violently together. "So what? You are completely enveloped within our space now. All external contact has been severed and masked! You can't transmit a single piece of information. What can you do?"
Fang Senyan gave a sly, mysterious smile.
"Yes, I truly cannot send any information externally. But what if my Mother Space actively seeks me out?"
Fang Lin scoffed:
"That might fool others, but not me, who is almost merged with the space! A complete Noah Space has covering several dimensional latitudes, numbering in the thousands. Furthermore, maintaining its own metabolism requires over sixty percent of its Bio-Mechanical Computer's processing power. If it could keep tabs on every single contracted member at all times, its Bio-Computer would immediately burn out. Thus, most of the time, it pays little attention to its contracted members, relying instead on the Nightmare Imprints on them to handle over 99% of matters as sub-computers. We suppressed and put your Nightmare Imprint into hibernation immediately. The chance of your hypothetical scenario occurring is less than one percent."
"Most importantly, from what I understand, your Mother Space, Noah Space C, appears to be in a state of dormant evolution after swallowing other spaces. Space dormancy is already an extremely critical matter, let alone when it's in evolutionary dormancy. Under these conditions, even if you called for help, your Mother Space wouldn't pay attention to you; at best, it would seek vengeance after waking up."
Fang Senyan smiled. If one looked closely, they could see the vicious corrosion process on his body had stopped. This was because a layer of dark red, organic material was quietly growing beneath his skin, blocking the corrosive digestive fluid. This substance was none other than the Flesh-and-Blood Armor granted to every one of them by the Noah Mother Space! The fact that this armor could spontaneously emerge to fight the decaying space Fang Lin occupied clearly meant it had been re-linked by Noah Space C, allowing it to effortlessly counter the mental suppression from the opposite side.
"If I told you I not only have a way to make my Mother Space actively contact and monitor me, but I also know the exact time it will awaken, you surely wouldn't believe me? Otherwise, how could I dare to conceal my strength up until now, being defeated so easily by Xiang?"
Everything Fang Senyan said was true. He currently possessed the fruit of the Aladdin's Lamp, an object craved by all spaces. More importantly, he had an agreement with his Mother Space: to exchange the fruit of Aladdin's Lamp for the resurrection of Mogansha!
Given how coveted the Aladdin's Lamp fruit was among all spaces, Fang Senyan was almost certain that once his Noah Space C woke up, it would place this matter high on its execution priority list. After all, the Aladdin's Lamp fruit was being competed for by many other spaces; competition naturally meant greater attention, much like a woman being pursued by two men receives far more devoted care than if pursued by one man multiplied by two.
Coincidentally, tonight was the scheduled time for the Space to awaken, as informed by the Nightmare Imprint. When he fought Fu and Xiang above the Devil's Throat, it was already past midnight. Fang Senyan was certain the Space had detected an anomaly, which was why he hid his strength and allowed himself to be captured, in order to obtain the truth and the mastermind behind the scenes.
"Actually, whether you believe me or not is irrelevant," Fang Senyan suddenly said meaningfully.
"Because it has already arrived!! Yes, my Mother Space, the incomparably powerful Noah Space C, has torn through the barriers of time and space and descended right here! Having just swallowed a space of the same tier, it certainly won't hesitate to swallow a semi-crippled initial-tier space!"
As Fang Senyan finished speaking, an indescribable force pressed down like a tidal wave. Immediately, Noah Space C's signature tentacles ripped violently through space and the outer shell, piercing directly from the void and thrusting forward to stand before Fang Senyan. Having completed its evolution, the tentacles of Noah Space C had begun to shift from physical matter towards energy. What appeared before Fang Senyan was a massive, electrically charged tentacle shimmering with azure blue, yet it mimicked the giant suction cups on the real thing with uncanny accuracy!
The original Nightmare Space where Fang Lin resided was utterly defenseless against the newly evolved Noah Space C. It was torn apart brutally, ravaged wildly, as the terrifying, electrically charged tentacles carved wantonly through the body of the original Nightmare Space, shredding vast amounts of mechanical limbs and decaying organic matter into pieces. Most fragments were deemed unworthy even by Noah Space C due to their decay and were simply left to be destroyed by the temporal turbulence.
Conversely, the original Nightmare Space could only instinctively manifest some puppets to resist, but these were instantly vaporized under Noah Space C's savage assault! Such an attack wasn't just breaking through obstacles; it was a series of continuous victories. Attached spaces were violently stripped away one by one. These corrupted, mutated remnants were scorned by Noah Space C; its sole target was the core of the original Nightmare Space—the place whose design was supposedly a one-hundred-percent restoration of the Creator's thinking. Though it appeared obsolete due to its lack of visible evolution, it held immense value for deciphering, and even restoring, the technological framework of the Creator.
